Chapter 219- The Speech

It was the first public speech for Ankush after the election announcement was made. For past one week he was only doing door to door campaign. Now a stage was set for his speech in one of the schools.

Crowd was coming to the venue and soon the hall was filled and people started standing. Vindhya, Poorni and Aakash also decided to join for the programme. Soon Ankush came and then there was loud cheering as he went up the stage.

Ankush told namasthe as he was garlanded and people even put garlands of currency notes on him. Ankush had never liked currency garlands, but then certain patrons will be offended by that. So again that had to tolerated as part of the campaign.

When welcome speech was done Ankush was to come and explain his vision for Jaipur and what all he will planning to do for the city.

Ankush scanned the crowd as he took the microphone. He could see two of his brothers as well as some of his father's cronies in the crowd. He knew they had come for trouble making.

He started his speech. He spoke about starting drug de addiction centres as he felt among the youth the drug problem was major and the there was serious deficiency of medical professionals who can help the victims to come back to normal life.

He talked about how drugs are destroying youth and he was saddened to see even children as young as 13-14 years falling prey to it and destroying life. He talked about setting up special cells to deal with drug smugglers and small time traders who supply drugs to school children.

Then he talked about various other things his party was planning to roll out and also about the new era of Information Technology that was going to come, as he was about to conclude the speech, he heard a snide remark.

" Ankush Setia is it that this time also you plan to run away after giving big big promises " Ankush turned to look and saw one of his father's crony.

" Yes yes what big campaign he ran for Sati prada and ran away in the middle. Now after so many years how could you come. Arent you ashamed " asked another.

" Yes Ankush Setia tell what is the guarantee you wont run away this time" told the third.

Ankush smiled. He had expected this and he had come prepared for this also. He looked at the crowd.

" I guess I owe an answer to that. But before I answer I would like to ask few questions to my brothers standing there"

Ankush could see his brother's were fidgeting uneasily they had not expected this and now they were finding no way out.

" Ask whatever you want. That doesn't change the truth you are a coward " told one of his brother.

" Bhaiyya what is truth let the people decide. By the way do you know Dharini's husband's name"

Ankush brothers looked blank. He couldn't answer

" Well don't answer maybe you forgot, do you know where Dheeraj is working" continued Ankush.

Beads of perspiration from coming from both his brother's forehead. They understood what was Ankush going to imply and found no way to escape it.

Crowd was now curious seeing no answers from his brother's.

" One last question. Atleast this you should answer. Dharini have a boy or a girl "

" Boy," " Girl" came two answers from his brothers and Ankush suppressed the laughter. Crowd was bemused.

Ankush turned to the crowd " Now you would be wondering who Dharini and Dheeraj are. They are our niece and nephew. Children of our only sister Arathy. Dont you find it strange that her two mamus don't know her husband's name. They don't know whether she has a boy or a girl. They don't know where their nephew Dheeraj is working. So my dear friends in the next meeting of Aravind Setia don't forget to ask why did Arathy's kids Dharini and Dheeraj grew up with me and no one in our family knows anything about them. Have their father ever visited them. If not why. You will get answers on why I went away 13 years back"

Now leaving Sati Prada campaign. I didn't go simply. CBI enquiry was ordered on Shobha Sharma's death. Now again it is upto you to ask what happened to it . Thank you " told Ankush as he came down the stage and walked toward the entrance as loud applause followed.

When he came near his brothers he told " Bhaiyya do come for Jagratha at Tilak's place this year. I will request Tilak to send a special invitation for our family. There are some interesting things lined up for you there" told Ankush and walked away leaving his brother's stumped.

Mahantji and Setia looked into the TV news which said Ankush Setia has raised the questions on the effectiveness of CBI enquiry on Shobha Sharma's case and now people are debating on it. Mahantji began walking back and forth in the hall. He has to do something. Things were falling apart. Now what was that this Ankush planning for Jagratha. Nothing was coming to his mind.

Great that the like minded cousins of the Rajput family are breaking out /already broken out of their respective parents influence and will join hands.

One more Jagarta and more drama. Ankush seems to be able to double guess his dad's moves. Interesting contest. Looks like Arvind Sethia will now use brawn power and not brain power.
