@vd thanks for coming and reading. See neither reading online or even writing online has been my forte as to some extend I also belong to the old school. Infact the time period I have set the story I am a teenager of say 14-15 years. I have also grown up writing letters, giving greeting cards and belong to non mobile era till the end of my college. Yes during final year of my college life ie 2003 some NRI friends had mobile with them, but I got it first time post my graduation, when I went for work. There were many in my batch who bought the mobile with their first salary.

Chapter 259- The Blast from the Past

Varma house was bustling. Maheswari was busy ordering servants in the kitchen. Poorni was also helping her dadi. That day late evening everyone was returning from Singapore and Maheswari wanted to prepare a good feast for everyone. It was then Vaishnav walked in.

" Dadi can I also help you in the kitchen " he asked.

" Vaishu it is better you sit and eat pakodas than come in the kitchen and mess up things told Maheswari putting a plate of pakoda in front of him.

" Dadi I know cooking, if nothing else I can prepare rice and dal tadka, cut vegetables also " he told.

" Dadi he has eagerly come to help. When I told you are preparing feast alone and I can offer only basic help, he has rushed in. He knows cooking better than me dadi " told Poorni, as the kids gathered around him calling Vaishnav Bhaiyya.

" Fine then come. Just see whether this sabji is doing good. Poorni check the milk. Let me prepare churma ladoo, and then she turned to servants supervising the way they were cutting vegetables and making the dough. When she was satisfied she sat to make Churma ladoo.

Kids also came now and then to kitchen to take snacks, Rajasekhar had also come early asking the manager to close the accounts and was reading newspaper. The aroma of good food filled the air.

" Maheswariji, where are you Maheswariji " called out couple of women. Maheswari got up and went to the hall hearing the loud voices.

" Arrey Sumangala, Pankhuri what happened why are you shouting like this "

" Switch on the television Maheswariji. Look at what is being talked about Suman bahu's family. No wonder your son died the moment you married a girl from that family. That family will be cursed by many souls and anyone going near that family will get burned " told one lady.

" What are you telling. Be clear " told Maheswari.

" Look at TV Maheswariji, everything is seen there. " told another lady and they went away still murmuring things.

Maheswari asked Rajasekhar to switch on the TV. In the Amro network breaking news was the successful sting operation of female feticide clinics in Mewar, along with the confession of the district collector Satish Kowshik telling he has aided those clinics. Images showed people throwing stones at the collector's house and police trying to control them, while the anchor was explaining the process to arrest the collector was in progress.

But it was the ad of Maryada and Bandhan that came in between that shocked Maheswari and Rajasekhar.

The ad told how female feticide was rampant in the society and how the so called progressive and elite indulged in the same. They were going to expose the Rajput family of Mewar for doing female feticide. It asked the viewers to tune in at 9 pm to watch the exclusive episode tearing apart the mighty family.

" Rajasekhar this is the last thing Suman needs now. First the truth of her family out in the open, second some ladies who are again telling about the curse in her family. I need to think how to handle her and keep her away from all this. We as a family need to ensure her mental state is not disturbed by these happenings " told Maheswari.

" Dadi don't worry too much. I feel Suman Chachi will be able to handle this. We all know right. If it was before we came to know about it, it might have been difficult for her. Now I don't think she will have any emotional breakdown " told Poorni.

" Maheswari I think what Poorni tells is true. Let us not talk about anything when they come. Let them relax and have food, then we will see " told Rajasekhar.

Maheswari nodded and was about to go in, when she saw the cars coming in the drive way. Her family was back safe and sound. First let her assure them in and then all the Maryada and Bandhan can come in. She went to the door directing Poorni to bring the aarti thali.

Bhavani was laughing like mad when she saw the ad of Maryada ya Bandhan. The men of the Rajput family didn't know what to do. They were all keeping their hands on their head and bickering against each other.

" Your daughter is the curse of this family " told Vijender to Virender.

" My daughter is the curse, what about your son, who ran away " told Virender equally back.

" Please stop this bickering and let us see what they are going to tell. I will try to talk to Prathana Devi. People here believe her " told Viren trying to douse the fire between the brothers.

" Prathana Devi, what will she do now. Her dummy that district collector is arrested. She will be trying to save herself than save us told Amrit budging in.

" Ravan's Lanka is burning. The Lanka that has burned the daughter's of this house is burning. My daughters will be happy. Their souls will be rejoicing " Bhavani continued chanting and Virender smashed another flower pot to the floor.

@jaya saw your comment now only. I have replied to Ajay. You have to take those days also, where daughters are married early. I have put 20 years for Supriya aunty's marriage, but it would have happened at 18 also, as in those days when good alliance comes girls are married and some are asked to study post marriage.

So Rajputs are kind of finished... vaishnav is so helpful and his help is also timely..

Sorry my inputs are still from the early chapters...didn't want to interrupt the present story line but still could not resist myself from writing as well. Will try to keep the number of interrupts minimal by posting for many chapters together in one...

Change in The system - what a strong concept that Supriya aunty said and Sreedhar's friends have taken it a a step forward 👏 does remind me of Rama bringing a change in the system by going with the system though he had to inflict lot of pain on himself and his beloved. Initially I was drawing parallels to Rama's character but reading the DDLJ and priest's hypocrisy now more biased to Krishna's Leela break/bend the rules to get right things succeed. Beautiful Shruthi.

I am loving the amount of positivity each one in Varma family radiate and true it starts
With the First Lady of the household. What she gives is what she gets back. She gave the goodness to her elder DILs and now they are giving goodness back to their devarani...awesome. Mahaeswari named aptly because she seems to be the source of shakthi to the Varma household. Her nature to think ahead of her times is very well justified by her family background.

That first trip to shop for Nami's dance program...oh wow wiping of the mirror you symbolically say tha he is wiping the tears of Suman...heart warming moment.

And I also like the several eye talks between Sree and Suman. Eyes can never lie and they are very powerful...and shows the depth of how much they have understood each other...
