Sema, this is why I hardly read Mahabharat-based novels. I can't stand the blatant whitewashing/villifying of characters, especially when the positives ones are turned bad.

I've read only one - the Palace of Illusions - and I was so horrified, I never read another.

Yes I know that Gandhari was not innocent. Once I had a soft corner for her when I was a child and just read MB but now I don't like her. She was not as helpless as I thought her to be. As a Queen definitely she had some power to save Pandavas and Draupadi from injustice done by her sons. I don't like how she cast her angry eyes to burn Yudhishthir's feet (after war). And her curse to Krishna is unforgivable.

See I have two problems with this.
1. Obviously, the vilification of Dharmaraj, who was innocent. He held onto his truth and ideals to the end, even after going through the change from Swadharma to paramarth.
2. The butchery of the Lord, perhaps even more infuriating than what they do to Dharmaraj. So now, Jagannath, the Lord, Kripasagar, Karunanidhan, is partial? He is partial to one of the Pandavas, and demeans the rest? He, to whom everyone is the same?

Dhritarastra and Gandhari are the perfect example of parents (who are more common now in today's society) who never blame their own children for anything, no matter what they do, and always place the blame on others. Whether they cheat, lie, attack others, rape women, or even murder people, they will always manage to make their child look like the victim and someone else the perpetrator.

These parents will never realize that their kids are responsible for their actions, and when their kids get punished, they go into a rage because they feel the world has been unfair to them.

If possible, they will blame God also, though it makes absolutely no sense to blame God.

And the thought of God being partial is laughworthy.

God is with justice. He is with Dharma, and whether there is Dharma, he will always be present.

So if someone wants God on their side, they shouldn't do adharma. There is no excuse for it, no justification. You can never justify unrighteousness. It's never ever okay.

So if someone is going to behave like a prick, they can't expect God to support them, and then blame Him of paritality when He doesn't.

Janu 👏👏
This is the sad truth, and that's why He said Himself that Kaliyuga will emulate the worst negative traditions that began in the Dwapar, it will be passed on as a legacy, power will be abused, truth will fail, lies will win. God will be forgotten, crimes will take over, and righteousness will be mocked.

Janaki, I can understand dear, even I was horrified when I finished POI.
Still, I read them, just to be aware of the current viewpoints, just to learn exactly what misconceptions are being spread by the authors. I have a strong intention to dispel at least some of them by writing my own book if Krishna blesses me to do so. For curing the decease first I need to know what the decease is. I have taken this work as a part of my research. So I keep bearing with the pain of reading those novels.

I know dear, in Ajaya Dharmaraj poisoned Bheem (not Duri) and it was also he who orders Dushshashan to pull Draupadi's cloth.
There was time when I use to shed angry tears on reading such things. But nowadays I simply laugh at their ignorance.
