There was time when I use to shed angry tears on reading such things. But nowadays I simply laugh at their ignorance.

I think all of us have graduated to that level, when it comes to any epic.

Janaki, I can understand dear, even I was horrified when I finished POI.

Still, I read them, just to be aware of the current viewpoints, just to learn exactly what misconceptions are being spread by the authors. I have a strong intention to dispel at least some of them by writing my own book if Krishna blesses me to do so. For curing the decease first I need to know what the decease is. I have taken this work as a part of my research. So I keep bearing with the pain of reading those novels.

I haven't quite grasped what the authors of such works are trying to do.

Is it a sort of fanfiction that they are writing? For it seems to me to be as far away from the actual epic as possible. Original texts gave ample importance to each character, each detail lovingly woven in, each person explained. Texts have been diluted, and all those who were good have been vilified and vice versa.

They needlessly change the story to satisfy their own needs.
I can show you an example. Take a single incident of Draupadi sharing. What happened in the original? Was there anybody to be blamed? No. But in Draupadi-centered novels the blame goes to Yudhishthir, ignoring the fact that Draupadi too wanted it. In ArDi-centered novels too, same thing happens, ignoring the fact that Arjun had no objection in this. And in the only Bheem-centered novel I have read, Yudhishthir openly lusts Draupadi and Bheem criticized that.
Same incident, 3 different portrayals just to save the protagonist. And in every case my poor Arya is the commonly used dustbin to throw all mud.

That's just the thing.
According to the MB, they all fell in love with her, and she with ALL of them, at first sight. Mahadev said it would happen, which means that Narayana was in concurrence with it. That means that the Lord knew. Which, basically is His Leela.

So, people are disputing God's words and His Leela by saying that she was only Arjuna's wife. Are they actually that stupid, or is it mere disrespect?

Draupadi did love Arjuna the most. It was the reason she fell on the mountain in the end, but people twist that to mean she didn't love the others.

She did. She shared a special relationship with them all, just that Arjuna was her favorite since he was the one who won the swayamvar.
