Part 12

Silence took the Gupta Mansion by storm. A storm raged in Sumitra's and Khushi's heart as they awaited Suhasini's answer with bated breaths. Since she knew the truth now and if she doesn't agree to relationship, decides to side with honor killing, it would be a fight or a flight situation for them and they were still preparing themselves for it. Sumitra's son Nikhil was waiting for them at backyard door to help them to run away if the situation arises.

Meanwhile the conflict in Suhasini's mind was eating away her peace and she was sure that whatever decision she takes, she would not be able to embrace peaceful sleep for nights. And in the conflict of motherly love and age-old teachings to her, a side which the women standing in front of her would never expect had triumphed.

" I want to meet this guy. What is his name?" Suhasini's emotionless voice managed to increase Khushi's anxiety as her voice was anything but revealing her inner feelings.

" Arnav Singh Raizada. The Rising Entrepreneur of the year award winner." Sumitra answered on Khushi's behalf as she realized that Khushi was busy analyzing her mother's behavior to know whether to keep her hopes up or not and if it was safe to let Arnav in her father's territory or not.

" Arnav Singh Raizada? So he belongs to the reputed family of Raizadas. Jaise Ki Maine Bola, Main Usse Milna Chahti Hoon Aur Main Uske Baad Hi Apna Nirnay Sunaongi."

The determination and arrogance in her voice didn't give Khushi the right vibes but she decided that it was not the best option to reveal her fears at the moment and she would vent it to Sumitra once they reach her home.

" Theek Hain. I will call Arnav and will ask him to reach here as soon as possible. And I will tell you the details as soon as I get them." Khushi's voice lacked positivity but she knew that she couldn't afford to show her weak side to her mother, whose decision was still under covers.

" Hmm," said Suhasini as she moved away from there leaving Sumitra and Khushi in the living room of Gupta Mansion. Khushi stared at the ground unable to fathom what would be her mother's decision as her heart told her that she still loved her but her brain argued by saying that her mother would choose her husband and her beliefs against her any day.

Sumitra gripped Khushi's shoulder in an affectionate gesture before guiding her towards her home knowing that it wouldn't be the best to speak in Gupta Mansion where there was every chance for Suhasini to spy on them if at all she wanted it.

And Suhasini felt that though it was a difficult decision it was the best after pondering about it for a few moments.

" What do you think, Maa? She is thinking in the right direction?" Khushi asked hesitantly before calling Arnav as she didn't want to waste 5 years of her struggle which was to save Arnav's life and she couldn't just call him into the mouth of death even if it meant they would unite.

" I seriously don't know what Jiji is thinking. But I want you to give this a benefit of doubt, Khushi. Call Arnav Bitua here but be prepared for the worst. Warn him right now and I am sure everything will go alright even if Jiji ends up taking a wrong decision." Khushi nodded at Sumitra's thoughtful advice before calling Arnav as Sumitra rose up to leave to give her some privacy.

" Hello Arnav.."

" So Madam finally remembered me. Iss Abhaag, Patnivrata Pati Ko Kaise Yaad Kiya Apne?" Arnav's playful voice lit up her face with a smile as she chuckled lightly.

" Bas Kuch Kaam Agaya Tha Isiliye." Khushi's equally playful voice gave Arnav a hard time to control his laughter but he had to play along and couldn't afford to laugh.

" Agya De Khushi Ji. Aap Ka Hukum Sar Aankhon Par." Every worry of Khushi's seemed to come back to her again as she reminded herself of the reason she had called him.

" Actually Arnav, me and Sumitra Maa spoke to Mumma and she wants to meet you. Is it possible for you to come here tomorrow?" Khushi somber voice made Arnav's smile fade away and he immediately felt concerned towards her.

" This is good thing right? Every mother would want to see what kind of a guy her daughter chose. What is wrong in that? Of course I am coming tomorrow. Aman will be able to handle it here." Arnav's concerned voice made her heart a bit more heavy. She didn't want him in any danger but she had to trust her mother once in her life.

" It is not, Arnav. She didn't tell us what she thinks about the whole thing. I don't get good vibes from this nor does Maa but we decided to give a benefit of doubt. In fact we have prepared for a flight if the situation arises. I don't even know if we will make it through if that happens though. Please be prepared, Arnav." Arnav rose up from his seat as he heard sniffs from the other end of the phone.

" Hey Khushi! I will be fine, you will be fine, Sumitra Maa will be fine, everyone will be fine, don't worry. I will ask Aman to provide some security outside to take care of the possible situation. Now relax. Nothing wrong will happen. Your Devi Maiyya will not let injustice take place. As much as I love your red nose when you are angry or sad, I don't want you to have one now." Arnav's playful statement made a smile grace on her lips as her right hand traveled to her nose and she retorted,

" And why is it so?"

" If that happens, I want to be right by your side and appreciate the beauty of it. Not think about it and feel bad for myself on how much I am missing. So you better stop crying or I will start right away." Khushi chuckled much to Arnav's relief and he chuckled along with her, feeling blissful that years of separation couldn't alter their bond.

" Theek Hai. Tho Main Rakti Hoon. I need to complete my project reports. See you tomorrow, Arnav. Bye." Arnav groaned from the other end while Khushi giggled again knowing it was to make her laugh while Arnav replied,

" Khoonkar Ho Tum Yaar. Kaam Hogaya Tho Phek Rahi Ho Mujhe. Chalo Bye."

" Arnav.." Arnav brought the phone back to his ears as he heard her voice and asked,

" Haan Khushi.."

" Be safe." The simplest of words melted his heart and a surge of emotions overpowered him but he chose to not revel his weakness knowing that Khushi would completely break down if he did,

" You too, darling."

As Arnav disconnected the call knowing she would never disconnect his call, Khushi stared at Arnav's photo as she caressed it slightly and let the emotions overpower her. Because she knew it would be gone tomorrow. This anxiety of hers would go away forever. Either they would be accepted or she would reject her family and run away and in both the ways, her anxiety would fade away.

What did the next day have in hold for them?
