I voted for the first option "Who/What show the FF is based on?" because to read something, normally, I need to know the main characters, which means I should have seen the show, not entirely, even few episodes, and if I like the couple then I can read stories written on them, this is just to visualize the story in my mind when I read, being a person who's memory is a visual one, I need to create the image in my mind and to do so I need to know the faces of the people involved in it. But this is just for the Fan Fictions, for books I do the opposite 😆 😆

After this main point it comes what is the FF about. If it a dramatic/emotional story, then I read the first 2 chapters and if it attracts me I'll read it, otherwise no, mostly I prefer to read light stories with happy ending, not tragic ones with too much emotional involvement.

I don't go for those stories who have written 18+ because people put that tag just to get readers, when, some times, they are not even able to correctly formulate a sentence, I read normal stories and if in that there is chapters for 18+ people it's okay, but not stories mainly focused on sex, because I think only sick people write about that. Once i had read that type of stories, but at that time I was new to this reading thing and a little bit kid too, well if someone of 22 can consider as such 🤪 but than I realized why reading a story in which you skip many parts, yeah many times a skipped that parts, read normal stories, more light.

I don't like those writers who tend to drag the story, like writing 50 chapters for a concept when they could have wrapped it up in 20 chapters.

I don't even like stories with too many twist and turns, because you kinda lost the track 😆

Basically simple, romantic, light and beautifully written stories are my favorite ones😳.

But I would always read something written on babies🤗. For that many times I don't even care about how the writer writes and how many mistakes she/he makes, of course it should be at least readable. In this type of stories the babies should be innocent and not adults in the guise of kinds. In this stories the concept does't matter, I mean it can be on Arnav and Khushi dealing with their kinds. Arnav and Khushi got separated and she got a kid and they come back together and so on, but the happy end is badly needed

About recommended stories, I normally don't read recommended stories if I don't like the concept and the writer's why of writing.

I don't follow the mass, in fact, I am a person who tends to go against the tide, I said so because to read a story I don't need to know who the writer is, in fact I had read many stories of which I don't remember the author, this means people should read what they like and not what they think they like because many others like it/read it. If I can make the difference than I prefer to read unknown or less known writer's stories, because I think they "give more value to your reviews and thoughts" one because they have less readers and they want to know in which thing they can improve or which things they need to change to make the story more attractive. Second in this way they don't get demoralized, as opposed they start feeling that their work is good even if they don't have many readers and this makes them write even better.

Last but not the least complete stories are more attractive, because you don't need to wait to know the end 😃😆

These are just my thoughts. No offence to anyone😊.

P.S. if anyone knows stories in which kids are involved, please send me the links, I haven't read good stories since a long time, feeling nostalgic. Even stories in which Khushi is pregnant 😳

forgot few things 😆

@ the Author of this Poll: the poll is really interesting but I don't think there will be an answer who will be common to all of us, except the first option of the poll, because being on If since 2 years one thing is sure people read show, no better say, couple oriented stories only. If they like the couple than then will surely give a read to FFs written on them.

😊

thank you very much Preet.
That was also really nice in depth explanation into your approach to reading a fan fiction. There are a lot of stuff I can relate to there. I'm pretty sure you have read all the baby arshi stories I know. They're pretty popular.
I hope more people take part in this poll.
So far it seems who the leads are is the most important reason.

No need to thank.

Yeah I have read many stories. Don't know if all, there are many writers.

Btw one point that matter is how the story is narrated; it is written in first person of third one. That metters a lot to many people, to me yes. I read mainly stories narrated in the third person, except for 2 authors for whom I make an exception because they write too well.

^ Didn't think of that one, but that could make a lot of difference. First person stories are not the same as third person narratives. I think it is harder to write first person as you have to get into the head of the character.

yeah! For me is tough.
Because while reading you feel like you are the person who is doing or thinking those things and I really don't want to feel anyone's emotions, because mine are already too much for my poor heart and brain 🤣

Another think for which I leave reading a story is the too much suspense and cliffhangers, where the author doesn't reveal anything and you are not even able to elaborate or guess the next one scene. Those stories are really boring. I think people should write stories on new freshen themes but write them in a way that the reader gets an idea of what can happen, not those stories in which you don't know what happened, or what is happening and what can happen. These are the stories that normally have too many twist and turns, it makes you feel like the author is confuse or hasn't planned the story before writing and now is just experimenting.

Emotions are a hard thing to handle. Whether it is your own or a character's. It's amazing how as humans we can suspend disbelief and really connect with characters that are in effect not real. That amazes me.

Hmmm... again something I did not think off.

I wanted to vote for 3 factors actually but couldn't.
I can't read any other fiction which has characters other than Arnav and Khushi since it is my favourite and i started reading because of them.
Then I select by the writer's style(for which I have voted), I love reading all the genres almost since I like reading variations and creativity of the individual's minds. Some of the particular concepts and themes thrills me but I read almost ranging from intense, crying one's to tummy-holding funny ones.

A simple thing is that I read any FF and I love it as it makes me feel good. It helps to uplift my mood and I love those writers who cause this mood change 😊

I wanted to select few options, but I can't. So I chose the first one. If the story is about Arnav and Khushi, I try to read that one. I don't read any other stories.

Thank you Rishaal. For both taking part and the comment.
How important the couple on which the FF is written about is very important as the poll shows.
Definitely, seeing variations in writing ans creativity is a cool thing about this FF forum. There are so many styles and moods and concepts. If it's a original idea, it's a bonus.

Hi AKhushi,
Thanks for taking part.
I purposely made it one choice only because I wanted to know and make people think about their main reason for choosing to read a story. Even I had to choose only one choice. That was a hard choice to make.
