That Ravi need to be thrashed but Dutta support seema and lie to nana which is not good thing as he even don't know about him ...Dutta should enquire about him as nana believes him and on other hand seema is blind in love with Ravi..well yes lets see what goes on

After long time I read your update I really enjoyed it. Dutta ka garam aur kabhi naram reaction nakusha hamesha ki tarha very caring. LTL ki yaad taza ho gaye .bahut pehly story chor di thi tab seema negative role main thi lekin lagta hai ab woh badal gaye hai us ko bhi pyar ho gaya hai ravi se . Baji rang as Dutta hit the gas pedal, and pressed the ear piece in..

"Yes what is it? I am in the middle of driving you damned oaf! he growled on the phone.Baji yelled from the other end

"calm down Bhau! just checking up on you! here Aye sahib is going over the top Dutta hasn't returned yet?.. so I thought maybe she kept you.. your dil ke rani, sniggered Baji..

"no she didn't ,I hate to disappoint you Baji.. you should know your Bhau is not that sort.. quipped Dutta,

"I am just nearly home just turned off the motorway into the suburban leading to Patil Nivas". As he expected ,Baji, Kala, his mother were at the doorstep as he quietly pulled up the handbrake of his four by four cruiser. One look at the grandiose ,dimly lit dome atop Patil niwas,made Dutta speculate, if Kanta mai would be able to adjust to her displacement. But seeing his adopted mother waving at him frantically ,chivvied him out of his vehicle and ,he strod towards his mother,put his arm around her shoulders and pressed her shoulder in his arm pit ,turned his head towards her and grumbled at everybody else ,for allowing her to stay up so late. she twisted her arm and felt his stubble cheek and snubbed him

"nobody can stop us from waiting for you Dutta ,till your return.. so don't you start ,and come now ,I feel a wave of nocturnal rush.. take me to my room" ordered Aye Sahib, the one person Dutta obeyed without reservations. As he tucked her in bed ,propped her pillow ,sat her up, he turned to look at her pensively. She knew her son's ,wide eyed gaze usually meant he carried some baggage that needed unloading. Upon asking , he uttered frankly

"Aye Sahib , just anxious if we are doing the right thing by asking Kanta mai to leave Ram Sita hivali, and come here.. I mean in her age to unsettle her?.. Dutta asked innocently

" she needs to be near me Dutta ! have you never thought that I might need family support too? she's my long lost sister, now this doesn't seem such a feasible idea that I dump all of your and the running of this house and move over to her place. so it's best she comes her.. besides don't you want to know her better? I'd like you to get to know her more Dutta.." insisted Aye Sahib so vehemently ,that Dutta wondered was he sounding unfriendly? But the truth of the matter,as Aye Sahib saw it predominantly ,it was imperative Dutta builds a bond with his real mother.. Dutta cleared his throat, leaned over his mother's bedside and pecked her forehead with his lips.. swung his fingertips to her toes ,and turned with an order

"go to sleep now Aye.. and the question doesn't arise that you leave Patil Nivas.. that day will be the end of me.. mumbled Dutta as he slipped out and silently closed his mother's bedroom door..

With just a soft glow of a single lamp stand in his study, Nana sat in his leather upholstered chesterfield designed arm chair. The idea was to maintain the mood he was in , upon arriving at the tough decision. Before him stood Ravi still shaken and slightly bruised. Nana stroked his moustache and reached out out for Seema's hand. She looked up expectantly into her father's eyes and already noted a confirmation of what she wanted. Ravi was thus given an option either he take Seema and him to his house, or the invite them here so matters could progress . Ravi ,jumped for the option that rather than his boss going over to an employee's place, his family would be honoured to seek an audience with him.

"so it's settled then! your family will come and see me regarding yours and Seema's wedding. In the meanwhile you carry your body guard duties as normal . I don't want my daughters way of life being mucked about? muttered Nana as he dismissed both of them. He had a busy day ,unusual and unexpected and at his age he should have gone to bed ages ago. Once in bed ,Nana lay awake and quietly confessed to himself it is by far easier to execute business and charitable deeds ,than to sort out familial disputes.

It was crack of early dawn. The sun's rays poked out and zapped the slightly frosty fields , with it luminous columns of energies galore. The sleepy world turned sides and began to rise. Hearths were lit up ,humans were involved in acts of ablution. Naku too woke up offered her prayers and then both her and Roops go straight into first meal of the day preparation . Naku fixed her chunni and tied it tightly around her tiny waist ,it became a nuisance , slipped constantly off her shoulders and was in the way! as she set the simple dining table in this house. She looked across to Roops who fixed her hair and then cast her eye on the clock that graced the mantel piece. Naku frowned , it was past six am and the shop had to be opened before eight am and Saab had'nt even arrived. She dialled the mobile he had presented to her in the hope of getting some clarifications about his arrival.

With a crooked smile he answered her call, and refrained to respond for a while, as her repeat of her Saab! Saab! gave him a mischievous joy

"hummm speak up girl! what it is? haven't even woken up yet and you come down upon me like a shrilly annoying alarm!

"what? you still in bed oh Sahib?what will happen to gul bahar?

"nothing Naku.. gul bahar will there exactly as you left it.. hasn't moved, no earth tremors reported in the news! teased Dutta.But Naku was far from amused and miffed she replied

"Sahib, here time is ticking away and you are not even dressed, more then that ,had breakfast , and ohhh gawwd you have to still cover the distance to get here

"just be quiet ,woman! such a drama queen you are, listen Naku , you are the placid one out of us two. That's how Dutta likes it , a calm wife.. Like soothing balm that fills the senses with tranquillity and transports me into a land of still, chill, bliss!.. Naku giggled and covered her mouth with her palm .Roops looked at her daft friend and signalled with her hand what was so funny. Naku mouthed Sahib.. and Roops just rolled her eyes and pinned her chunni on one of her shoulders . Naku dabbed the corner of her eyes , as the extended but supressed giggles made them water and she replied to him

"look Sahib, it's day break , just woke up ,am ready , so this is not the appropriate time to mention tranquillity, if at all you should come out with words of wisdoms then "rise and shine!, seize the day! would be better..sahib are you seriously still in bed? awwaaaee, come soon.. Sahib" she pleaded in a mildly coquettish tone.

"your wish is my command Naku , he replied.Soon after the bell rang! and Naku opened the door and before her dressed in his security services black uniform stood Dutta his arms spanned across the outer door post. Naku looked up into his narrowed eyes which from her green eyes slid down from her chin to her exposed neck from her scoop neck fitted shirt. Dutta twitched his jaw and raised an eye brow which made Naku clumsily release her knotted chunni from her waist. But as it happened ,the more she struggled and yanked at the chunni to cover her bodice the knot tightened. Dutta sighed , rolled his eyes and sided his face so she could calm down. but when he turned his face , cast his eyes down, Naku still dug her finger tips into the stubborn knot but to no avail. Dutta dropped his spanned arms and poked his head in her face..

"accept it Naku.. the knot wants me to dig in! to open it.. hummm? here let go let me do it" offered Dutta and he only leaned his upper back , positioned his long slender fingers and with the pincer grip of both his hands he opened the knot.. tenderly lifted the chunni with two fingers of his hand and hung it on Naku's shoulder. She looked up into his hooded lion like eyes and blushed profusely. Slowly she reached out for the chunni he hung on her shoulder , and slowly spread it across her bosom. Dutta bowed his head with approval then looked up at her

" are you going to keep me waiting at the door ,or ask me to step in?.. and another thing , I am starving , give me food! he ordered as he moved in past Naku by the door. Kanta mai was already in the courtyard ,as she watched ,amused the complete door scene between her son and Naku.. Kanta mai , opened her arms wide ,and Dutta first bent and felt her feet then, fell into her arms. Kanta bai felt the back of his head and prayed, if only this big strapping lad of hers can recognize the touch of his real mother , she could own him as her own son straight away. She ran her hands protectively over his strong wide back. But then the moment ended.. like it had too! but then a mother 's love never ends.

"so I hear you haven't eaten , Naku get something for him and let a ,erhhh, me feed him by my own hand today" Dutta was a bit taken aback and turned his eyes towards Naku , who bowed her head once and blinked her eyes just the once too, encouraging him to let her. Dutta doubled his chin in compliance and then impressed upon Naku

"get a move on Naku! you were the one whinging about opening the shop ,now you stand there staring me in the face", he grumbled. He felt like a child being fed by his mother, as he chomped at the dhai dipped morsel of the fried flat bread.. Kanta bai just studied his stubble face ,how he parted his lips and received the morsel of food drizzled with a mother's love. Her eyes welled up at the sight of feeding him. Such a miracle this was, she could never imagine god would forgive her ,take pity upon her, and drop her once abandoned son into her the mantle of her elderly years... Dutta suddenly stopped eating and noted her tears and reached out for her hand tenderly and said with utter understanding

"I know Kanta mai you are saddened by leaving this place, your home for many years.. but what say you, if I help you do the packing? mai.. there's not much you need to take only take those things that mean the world to you.. mai.. I want you to stay with your immediate family, besides these two girls will be coming eventually to live at Patil Nivas.. thanks for feeding me mai, seems like I hadn't eaten since ages.", said Dutta with an odd lump in his throat. As he stood up from the table , Naku fought back the tear from the corner of her eye.She wished he would learn about the fact that Kanta bai was in actual fact his real mother. But Sahib ,she mused, the fear of how you will react to this news? resides in the hearts of your loved ones.

Dutta called out for Krishna and asked him what he had done all this time in his absence. With a big smile the lad assured Dutta , like a responsible man he had helped pack Kanta Aye's chosen belongings in two wooden crates. Dutta runs his fingers with affection atop Krishna's head. It was only two packaging boxes ,carried and loaded quite easily by Krishna. Naku like his mother moaned to Dutta , they might be too heavy to lift on his own. Standing by the open boot Dutta folded his fingers at Naku and beckoned her closer to him glared at her and muttered

"stop molly coddling him Naku, he's a growing lad ,lifting a bit of weight here and there can only toughen and flex his sinews not sprain them, understand! besides stop being his amma! ,he stopped when he saw how she pushed her fine bottom lip out, shamefaced .One look at it and he rolled his eyes and firmly told her

"go now and gather the rest of mayee's belongings . But soon enough small batches of women accompanied by ruggedly dressed children began pouring in from both sides of the street and surrounded his loading car. Roops opened the front door of the hivali and the groups of women and children carrying simple flower garlands and packets of homemade fare piled into the hivali. It was clear to Dutta who the people sought. Maiyee came out soon enough garlanded , her arms spread lovingly around some of her adolescent students. Dutta and Naku watched from a distance and Dutta's eyes moistened at the sincere and humble farewell of these poor folks. Krishna stepped forward and confronted the crowd

"hey every one! why the tears? Kanta bai is going from this house to a better place. She goes to her family house.. her son's house! he declared boldly as he turned and pointed to his Dutta Bhau and then with much clout he announced,

"Dutta Bhau lives at Patil Nivas ,where Kanta bai will be living with him.. and I can tell you he is not Bhau in name only.. he has a big heart ,so any personal problem ,just let him know at Patil Nivas and you'll be out of it soon! announced Krishna with much conviction. Dutta sided his face and whispered down to her

"what leadership tutorials do you give him Naku, look how he makes promises to people in my name". Naku smiled politely and felt she had to respond

"he's right Sahib... you have a good heart , a willingness to help the vulnerable especially, and what's more , Naku knows that you probably are grateful to my Krishna for saying what he said.. on your behalf, isnt that so Sahib? Dutta bowed his head once as he looked up to kanta mai,it was high time that the replacement teacher arrived now as he had arranged. She arrived eventually a mid-forties widow from a nongovernment organisation, who would reside at Ram Sita hivali and teach the underprivileged children of the area like Kanta mai did.

Hence Dutta moved through the crowd to the front door where mai stood and behind him followed the replacement. He turned to the crowd and called out as he pointed to the widow beside him

" so everybody , Dutta never leaves jobs unfinished.. Kanta mai wanted that tuitions at this hivali should continue.. this here is meera bai your new teacher ji! from tomorrow all mothers and sisters ,make sure the children turn up to their classes! It'll be business as usual! and he clasped his palms together and raised them above his head , among cries of Dutta Bhau! dutta Bhau! soon enough he passed meera bai to Roops to settle her into the hivali and show her around . Then he turned,and enveloped his arm around Kanta mai shoulders and bade her to head for the car.. Kanta mai looked back at the crowd of women and children, with mixed feelings .She smiled and wept tears to celebrate the past, plus in anticipation of auspicious times ahead.

The congregated pockets of women and children slowly dispersed as Krishna slammed the boot shut and Dutta helped mai to get into the front seat .She had of course noticed that briefly Dutta had words with Naku at the side of the car and she shook her head slightly and gently tapped his upper arm and coaxed him with something he accepted ,but not wholeheartedly, his grim face showed it. Kanta bai smiled and mused a touch of anger was perhaps inherited from her. She felt his presence behind her, as his arm went past her and pulled opened the car door for her. Yes seeing people during the farewell did make her gloomy but the prospect of being close to her son was a tremendous reason for exultation.

It was now in her hands to be more proactive in ensuring that Dutta settles down soon and that too, one that she suspected he likes. Kanta bai turned and gazed at his profile and requested that with regards to opening up Gul Bahar. Roops and Krishna could be left to deal with it, as she preferred Naku to setup her things at Patil Nivas . Dutta shot a narrowed eye curious gaze at Naku through the rear mirror in the hope of gathering her reaction. One hasty response of her twinkly green eyes supplied him with the answer. Dutta braked and pulled the handbrake up as he waited to let out Roops and Krishna out and Naku too, slipped out of the back seat of the land cruiser . Dutta who alighted from the car, tilted to the side, stretched out his arm and grabbed her just above the wrist and whispered hoarsely so it was inaudible to Kanta mai

"and where are you going to my pretty maid ? didn't you hear mai say you'll have to come with us to Patil Nivas.. you dare disobey her?" Naku turned her neck and replied

"see these Sahib.. the keys to the shop ,I have them and now look at that queue of customers at the entrance, don't mess with them at least , now let go of me." Naku ordered gently with a wee giggle and felt his fingers reluctantly relaxed over her tiny wrist and she scampered off,cut through the crowd and unlocked and unset the alarm of the shop. Dutta felt his stubble chin , as he watched amused how the customers trickled into the shop one by one , to buy their flowers for their morning worships. He was pleased as he gathered that the shop garnered enough business for Roops and Naku to live off comfortably with dignity. But he pulled his bottom full lip into his mouth and pondered , ideally he would want her to live beside him at Patil Nivas! Naku returned and stood before him expectantly

" come on then , I have returned Sahib! now what are you waiting for? and he lowered his head and studied his nails and replied out of turn

" waiting for you to stay at Patil Nivas in such a manner ,that you may never that place! Naku giggled and brushed past him to pile into the back seat and he whispered briskly before she slid into the car

" don't keep me waiting for too long Naku.. to wait is not my strong point " she turned to look up at this stubble face and teased

" have you not heard that good things come to those who wait ? and she pulled the door inwards and he slammed it shut in a sulk ,walked around the vehicle , lurched into the front seat ,adjusted the mirror on her face and drove off at a steady speed towards Patil Nivas.

As expected Baji ,Aye shahib and Kala waited avidly and received with equal warmth Kanta bai. Baji and Dutta both unloaded the two wooden crates of mai's belongings and transported it to the room beside Aye sahibs that was earmarked for Kanta mai. Once the two sisters sat down beside each other to exchange pleasantries. Kala Tai stood up and headed for the kitchen to get refreshments. Dutta stood with his arms folded across his chest, and gradually gave Naku a visual message of,making herself useful!

" Naku ,you're not a guest in this house... Tai you sit yourself down ,now that Naku is here she'll be tickled pink if she is given the honour of making the chai.. isn't that right Naku? semi teased Dutta and Naku blushed in awkwardness ,giggled and headed towards the kitchen. As she returned soon after with the tea and sweetmeats. Kala pointed her finger at Dutta

" you better watch your self Bhau , Naku is the would be daughter in law of this house with plenty of support systems around !her apart from your self.. so be mindful she is not treated as a servant! scolded Kala in an older sibling tone. Naku looked defensively at Kanta mai who added on her behalf

" in place of being Naku's mother ,I can say with conviction ,that Naku will truly consider herself as part of this wonderful family if she in the role of poviding rightful service to all who reside here.. it'll give her a sense of belonging, that she missed out on a great many years of her life.." Aye Sahib smiled benignly and dabbed a tear from the corner of her eye with her pallu

" yes Kanta , your Tai has been very blessed in terms of children.. all the ones I have been bestowed with, by Jagdammba's grace each has proved to be a gem and now I share my gems with you two. Both sisters reached out for each other's hands and squeezed them gently.

"this is all very cosy! But hate to butt into this reunion.. just one concern! Kanta mai would want to rest.. her bed has not been made! chirped in Baji and winked at Dutta who immediately looked at Naku. The silly girl much to Dutta's annoyance give him a totally blanked out, look. But lucky for him , his mother , Kanta bai spotted the eyelock between the two and suggested

" yes Naku.. could you make my bed and also set my clothes out too ,you know what not I need and how I set my clothes ," then after a pause she added

"Dutta , beta show her where my room is and she'll do the rest.." both Dutta and Naku lowered their eyes with a mixture of obedience and hard to conceal delight. Dutta pushed his long arm sideways and ushered Naku, led her up the main curved stairway that lead to the first floor sleeping quarter..

He looked back at her and whispered as she caught up with him with a couple of steps distance

"see I told you ,you need to settle here now!. You are needed here! and he missed the next step and stumbled and she swiftly caught his arm and prevented him from tripping.

"and hope you saw Sahib,what happens if one tampers with the time decreed by the gods for everything under heaven " Dutta looked down at her and she thought she suddenly saw his eyes grow dark with teetering anger

" don't give me lectures! just hurry up and follow me down the corridor to Kanta mai 's room..

Once they got to the room Dutta sat down on the settee and threw his head back and rested both his arms across the settee, threw his leg over comfortably and just sat there and watched her lay out Aye's folded clothes on to shelves of the cupboard. Naku suddenly stopped and turned her long porcelain neck as she felt his admiring gazes upon her back

"and Sahib! why are sitting there like a lemon and not giving me a hand? she challenged. Without moving an inch from where he sat ,he moved his lips and replied in a guttural tone

"because my petal! Kanta mai told you to set out her stuff .Me she only asked to show you where the room was! so done my bit! now be quiet! and don't whinge like a moaner! and get on with your job! don't have whole day to "time pass" with you! have to go to work as well! he grumbled. Naku stuffed the final set of folded clothes in the lower shelf and turned around and faced him.. and hissed

"Sahib , I too have to go to work ,in case you haven't noticed and I am not your petal!she sulked. Dutta leaned forward and rubbed his palms together, with an eye brow raised and questioned

" then what are you to me ? a thorn in my side? hummm tell me? Naku shook her head from side to side vigorously and replied

"only your Naku"... and slowly he hauled up on his long legs, strolled towards her with one arm folded behind his back.. he tilted her soft skin chin upwards with his folded forefinger and spoke directly to her green doe eyes,

"then tell me, only my Naku.. when will you be only mine forever? and he inched ahead and looped his arms slowly on the dip of her spine, and doubled his stubble chin, his mouth inches away from the top of her head.. he felt the tip of her sharp chiselled nose brush against his adam's apple.. and he pulled himself back, took a step back, sided his head backwards towards the bed..

" Naku the bed has to be made.. that's what we were sent here for ,not to engage in our own extra- curricular activities !" She giggled and then veered over to the bed. He helped her spread the bedsheet ,even shoved his fingers under the edges to tuck it in. Playfully threw a pillow at her across the bed and then another! as she ducked her head and shielded her face with her palms.. They were adults behaving like children and loving every moment of this togetherness. Once the bed making ceased, Dutta impulsively stood at the foot of the bed, and collapsed backwards on the bed! Naku most peeved , leaned over him and reached out for his hands, and with all her might attempted to pull him up.. and he with a bit of the devil on him he pulled her down wards over him..

"acting smart with a man in uniform? woman? you are under arrest! he said his ,head raised up to hers..

"areeeyee.. what the hell is going on here? thought I'd check up on you two! and you two up to no good!, said Baji as he barged into the room... to be continued Hamlet53 11.12.15
