PART 10

Neha had stayed late in college as she did not want to ride home with her sisters. She knew Naina would have told them everything and they would be ready with a million and one questions for her. She was not ready to answer them yet. She sat on the bus looking out the window, she had to go home. She didn't want to answer all her sisters eager questions, she didn't want them to advice her about what to wear, what to say and she didn't want to go on the date with Shiv Khanna.

Neha stepped in the house, and even before she could kiss her mom good-evening she was whisked away by her sisters to her room. Her sisters sat with her on her bed, silent for a moment and then Shewta and Natasha spoke at the same time.

"What did Shiv say? How much does he like you?"

"Guys, I don't know, I am not feeling too well. I don't think I can go to the date." Neha got off the bed and went and sat by her window.

"You just need some rest Neha. Come Natasha and Naina, we will go to my room and decide everything, let Neha relax before her date." Both Shewta and Natasha left the room, but Naina stayed behind.

Naina went and sat facing Neha, while Neha continued to look out the window. "What is it didi? Why don't you want to go on the date? I mean Shiv is so charming, you will have fun with him. I am sure he has something great planned." Naina smiled looking at Neha.

Neha looked back at Naina and returned her smile but did not say anything.

"Ok di, I will leave you for a bit so you can relax." Naina left the room.

"But that is thing Naina, Shiv is so charming. I don't know if he will fall in love with me or not, but I might not be able to stop myself from falling for him." Neha whispered to herself as Naina shut the door to Neha's room.

"So where are you meeting Shiv?" Natasha asked Neha as she looked through Neha's closet looking for a nice dress for Neha to wear.

"He said he would pick me up at eight'o'clock."

"What? He is not coming here! He can't come here!" Shewta yelled

"But what is wrong Shewta?" Naina asked bit surprised at Shewta's sudden reaction

"Have you gone mad, what if he recoganizes the house?"

"He has never been here." Neha replied this time

"What about Mama and Papa. No we can't take any chances, he is not coming here. Phone him and tell him you will meet him somewhere."

Naina rolled her eyes, and picked up the phone and passed it to Neha. "We can't take any chances di!" Naina mimicked Shewta, making Neha giggle, while Shewta glared at Naina.

"What am I suppose to say to Shiv?"

"Just tell him that you will meet him at the restaurant or wherever instead, it's not rocket science Neha." Shewta replied sounding a bit frustrated.

Shewta now walked up to the closet, "Natasha please go tell Neha, what to expect from the date, so she knows exactly what to do. I will look for a dress." Natasha quickly left. All three girls looked at each other, trying to supress their laughter. Who knew Shewta would stress this much over something other than her career.

PART 11

Neha stood in front of the movie theater waiting for Shiv. She looked at her watch hoping Shiv would get there soon as the movie she wanted to watch was about to start. Neha was glad she had suggested the idea of watching a movie to Shiv. Watching a movie meant not having to talk to Shiv too much. Neha smiled, feeling proud at her smart idea, while looking down at her watch, again. When she raised her head, she found Shiv standing in front of her. Neha's heart skipped a beat as she stared right into Shiv's eyes. Shiv smiled and asked, "so what's plan?"

"Well..., I was thinking maybe we could watch...umm..." Why had Neha suddenly forgotten the name of the movie, why had her mind just gone blank, she tried hard to think of what she had to say.

"I was hoping we could go for dinner instead, I mean it will give us a chance to talk to each other."

"Umm....actually I already ate, I thought we were going for the movie so I ate..." Neha had a guilty look on her face, as she lied about having already eaten.

"Oh okay I guess we will watch the movie then. Let's go buy the tickets." Shiv lead the way. Neha wondered if she had annoyed him. What if he was hungry, Neha had not even considered his hunger. But why did she suddenly care about his hunger or how he felt. She decided to put the thought aside and just watch the movie.

It had been half hour since Shiv and Neha had been sitting in the movie theatre and no one had spoken a word. Neha had no idea what was going on in the movie, because her mind was concentrating on what Shiv was thinking, and whether she should say something or just be quiet? "Oh, gosh, I am so hungry, why did lie. What if my stomach growls? Who cares, even if does, why do I care if Shiv thinks I am liar and doesn't like me...and why is this movie is so boring. Oh gosh, this is not turning out well." Neha was busy thinking to herself when suddenly she felt Shiv's face very close to her own. Her heart started to race as she could feel his breath on her neck, Neha just froze.

"This movie is quiet boring." Shiv whispered into Neha's ear.

"Huh?" Neha turned to face Shiv and once again she was looking directly into his eyes. Except, this time they were a lot closer.

"Let's get out of here, this movie is just too boring." Shiv whispered again as Neha turned back to look at the movie screen, unable to understand the reason why it felt like her heart had stopped beating every time she looked into Shiv's eyes.

Before Neha could reply Shiv got up and started excusing himself as he walked passed people sitting in their row. Neha quietly followed.

"Shiv, what do you want to do?" Neha asked as she caught up to Shiv.

"I don't know, maybe we could go for a walk or something?"

"Oh okay"

Neha and Shiv walked side by side on the empty road. Neha slowed her pace as she turned to look at Shiv, "Shiv can I ask a question?" But before Shiv replied Neha continued, "are you sure you don't have the wrong sister?"

Shiv now stopped, turned towards Neha and gave a her a puzzled looked, unable to understand her question. "I mean, are you sure you didn't want to date Naina. I mean if you made a mistake I can don't mind, I can ask Naina out for you." Neha smiled at Shiv and continued walking even though Shiv still stood.

Neha suddenly felt Shiv hold her arm and slowly turn her around. He looked at her for a moment and then took her face in the palm of her hands, and placed an ever so gentle kiss on her lips. "I have wanted to do that for a long time." Shiv smiled at Neha.

Neha found herself once again lost in Shiv's eyes. Why was it so difficult for her to look away this time. She was so close to Shiv that she was sure he could hear her heart race. Shiv once again brought his lips close to Neha's. Neha closed her eyes, she knew there was no point in trying to resist. "I really like you Neha. I like you a lot. You are really different from any other girl I have ever known. And normally I would have kissed again, but I want to treat you differently, like I have never treated anyone."

Neha opened her eyes, but before she could look into Shiv's eyes, she looked away. She knew Shiv would not kiss her again, but she did not know about herself. Neha smiled.
