UnRes
Now I am hitting myself hard as to why did I have to Res first, after the part 2!
The first part alone made me wonder which school did I study in, how bad is my English, I wasn't worried about the story, but my lack of vocabulary. Really, now I know why people join forums and are this brilliant.
I have just finished reading Part 1 and kept reading right till the end, without a blink.
While doing that, I did get a Jab we Met Geet wala vibe, then a hint where you may not like dancing in Baaraats, like me, or the weird aunts and uncles pestering youngsters about their future or the Kabatoor Ja Ja, given the superb touch or letters/chithiyaan. So many things ran through my mind, rather than soaking all the wonderful words, feelings, I was stuck with drawing conclusions about your source, inspiration for this write-up.
I kept wondering about the train ride, do people really tend to wear make-up, and travel. I actually travel like a bhangi, as in, wear rough clothes, barely manage to keep my hair straight. It depends if the coach is A/C or not, I prefer the khidki wali like Khushi. Being on a journey of 60+ hrs allows me to go back and relive some memorable moments. I guess Khushi was on a shorter one, hence the beautiful description of her beauty, it after all lies in the beholder aka Arnav.
Oh the bonding with strangers - It happens every time! I have met the most fascinating and interesting people when I travel, with my family of course.
Oh yes the khanna - Well.. We always prefer ghar ka, chahe ek din ke liye ho ya teen! Like I said, so many memories, wonderful experiences are relived.
Panni leaking - She could have used a Mayur Jug, or held the bottle in her hand, bag mein daalne ki kya zaroorat!
The best part I love about this is the authenticity, the simplicity, the way you have a knack for detail, be it the mausam, the handwriting, the loud band baaja, the attires, the thought processes, the feelings - They are all so real, even if it is fiction, one cannot relate to them, actually imagine ourselves in the same situation. You not only touch hearts, but our minds too. You connect with your audience in the most sophisticated manner. It is meant for all - An avid reader would adore it, a hard-core romantic would love it, a professor would grade it a A+ and for a simple person like me, I would be inspired by it, as in, be true to yourself. I assumed everyone else who commented or even liked to be some sort of expert in the language, and clearly appreciate the talent in it's true sense, with a short to the point response, unlike me.
The letters - Such classic romance! People do tend to forget nowadays with all the technology that how meaningful and heartfelt is a hand-written message from a loved one. That actually rishte were fixes by those means, abhi bhi I presume. It was an era and you brought us, or rather took us back into that era. Such a soothing feeling one gets when they see a letter, written by someone close, it brings out the creative side, helps us dive deep into it, learn the art of wooing, with mere words, and that they can be powerful and enraging than the actual contact, as per your narration. Hope I got that right, if not I apologize.
Well, will do read part 2, would love to keep the suspense as a reader. You took the liberty to spend quality time in coming up with it, the least I could do is wait and read after a while. Cherish part 1 in it's entirety, learn a few new words, brush up my vocabulary honestly.
Love how you leave things at a cliff-hanger, like a true story-teller, because one can never get enough of it, craves for more! Hope that inspires you to continue to mesmerize us with your clear, in-born talent.
