Coming to thinking...
How many people would have supported Arnav & Lavanya relationship if Kushi and Lavanya roles are reversed? (i.e. Arnav & Kushi married for Aarav and he is still alive or not) and Arnav & Kushi in the process of separation and Arnav & Lavanya are in relationship. Would we still support Arnav & Lavanya or want Arnav & Kushi to reconcile as wedding is utmost sacred relationship etc.?. What will be our perspective?. Does names and characters hold so much importance to change our POV?
@ Bold, Jay, since this story is a fanfic, which by definition is based on pre-determined, characters who have been etched out by the original writers of the show, my answer is a big YES. Yes, it matters to the extent nothing else will be acceptable. The main protagonists of this story are Arnav & Khushi... It is their love-story. It is how they overcome all odds & come together in the end. And they have to be together in the end, there are no two ways about it.
That said, every FF does have a very unique & distinctive storyline. But the main characters like Arnav & Khushi will to a certain extent have some broad characteristics that are similar to the main show... For instance, they can't be dishonest, they can't lie & cheat, they have to have some noble characteristics, and most likely but not necessarily, are downright stunning to look at etc. etc.
So that being the case, in an ArHi fanfic, Khushi would never do what Lavanya has done... She won't sleep around & bear somebody else's child & blame it on Arnav. She won't cheat him into a marriage by not being completely honest. She won't be pigheaded & nasty. (Well strictly speaking she can & I think there are some stories out there that have been written quite negatively, but then, I wouldn't classify them as ArHi FFs simply because they break this golden rule.) Because generally speaking, the characters have to meet a certain criteria...
So your question about a permanent relationship between Arnav & Lavanya does not meet the criterion of being an IPK FF. They could definitely be in a permanent relationship in any story but it wouldn't be an ArHi FF...
Again, this is just my POV, you or others may or may not agree with me & that's ok. :) I am not trying to shove my theory down anybody's throat, just offering my two cents on this topic. Not intended to offend any one.

Super analysis Geeta. I do agree if this is not Arshi FF then I will want Arnav and Kushi to separate and move on. In Arshi FF I will never want Arnav & Kushi separated 😊. This was just my random thought during lunch break 😉

Though I do take your point jduke, my heart, like Pixie's, will not accept any other combination but Arnav and Khushi!

Not a problem Jay... It was a very good question, which I have thought about very often myself when I read certain comments that are so biased towards Arnav & Khushi, that they forget that the other characters can be right & are right. Just because they are ArHi, you cannot turn a blind eye to other's sensibilities... For example their parents in this story... They have every reason to object to this relationship. Imagine being in a relationship with a married man like Arnav, will any of our parents approve?? But just because they are ArHi, we want their parents to approve regardless of anything else... 😆

Yes, no parents will agree on their daughter relationship with a married man or even divorcee when most eligible grooms are in queue for her. I would have happily selected Aman for Kushi 😆😉

So true Geeta and Jay. Just because they are ArHi, we become so biased towards them. In many cases even before a story has actually begun, we want them to unite.😆Imagine if Khushi was our sister and she fell for a married man who is still not divorced, we will start giving her all sorts of lectures and advices.
