Coincidence

Manvis pov

I was late! Late for my flight! I jumped off my bed like a ninja and jammed the ringing alarm clock inside my bed side table. I looked at myself in the mirror as I stood up. I was a mess! I guess I shouldn't have partied all night. 'Oh well' i say to myself and shrug. I quickly open the front buttons of my night suite and toss it on the floor. I slip out of my pajama and throw it in the air. I'm not exactly a neat person, in fact my mom says I'm.more slobbery than my brother.

I throw the thoughts of my family out of mY head and quickly pull out my outfit that was already ironed (pressed) and hanged neatly in my cupboard. I thank god for deciding to do that last night! I quickly wear the cream colored pant and a light purple shirt. This shirt was my favorite shirt from Calvin Klein. I loved dressing formal! Well I kind of had too! I was the business executive of Bennie's, a corporation that manufactures graphic t shirts for other companies. We kind of play the role of a middle man.

I quickly wear my engagement ring and slobber on some lip gloss. Being messy with makeup isn't my thing but I'm really late. I quickly grab my couch travel bag that I had already packed last night. The bag was a deep coffee color with delicate golden piping. I run out of the appartment door as I grab the keys from the key holder.

I enter the airport likea tornado, in speed and creating a mess by dropping everything. I rush to the main desk of my flight . "I'm here! Here is my boarding pass! Business class! " I say while gasping for breath. the front desk lady looked at me and.calmly took the boarding pass from my hand. She without saying a word typed something and then stamped my boarding pass. "You are ready to go. Gate 5! The plane leaves in 18 minutes! You might want to be fast. Thank you for flying with american airlines." She says with a big smile that I so knew was fake. I bet she has to put up and act for every annoying passenger. Damn I pitty her job. I don't even reply to her and snatch my boarding pass and run for my life.

Why did gate 5 have to be so far? I kept running and finally sighted it and rushed towards the gate. Shit! Everyone had already boarded! "I'm here I'm here !" I scream and run to the gate. The man takes my boarding pass and quickly scans it ."your good to go! 2 minutes late and you would not have been allowed to board. He says and I nod and run across the jetbridge. I am greeted by air hostesses at the end of the jet bridge . I fake a smile. I had no reason to be happy right now! I walk inside the plane and thank god I made it. I look for my seat and scream a 'yes' in my head! I got a side seat! I was weird like that usually people want window seats but I didn't and my secretary booked this flight so I didn't bother with choosing the seat. I put my laptop case in the compartment and sit down and take a deep breath. I look around me and realize a man was sitting next to me in the window seat. His jacket was covering his face. I shrug and just close my eyes for a moment of peace.

"Manvi choudry?" I hear the man next to me say. I open my eyes as if someone just woke a sleeping cat with cold water . "huh who died?", what a stupid thing to say. I rub my eyes and look at the man next to me and I am left speechless. For a moment I stared at him in shock and then I couldn't control my excitement and just screamed! I screamed like a girl does when she gets proposed!everyone in business class looked at me as if I'm a crack head. " virat vadhera! Omg!" I yell and hug him instantly. He smelled good. Really good to be honest! I parted away from him "tum yaha Kya keraha ho? " I ask with a huge smile. Omg meeting virat just made my day! "Haha manvi tum bilkul nhi badli! Mein ,tum or yeh pura plane ek hi jaga jaraha ha, new York!" He says with a giggle. I laugh at my stupidity. "Sorry sorry just got excited seeing you! Its been a long time!" I say. "Ya 5 saal! And kissi na socha tha hum 5saal baad India sa itni door mileinga ! On a plane from Chicago too new york" he says with a smile. I look at him.closely he was wearing slightly ripped jeans and a blue polo shirt and a black leather jacket. "I know right! So how have you been? Vanshika antie kesi ha?" I ask rembering his amazing mom. I adored her and she loved me too.

"Drinks before takeoff? " the air hostess asked as she held a tray with different drinks. Virats attention diverted towards her. "Ya umm Pepsi plesse" he says .

"Anything for you mam?" She asks me. "AAA apple juice ?" I ask her. She smiles and hands the cup. I turn back towards virat. He takes a sip from his drink and gulps it down. "Aa ya she's amazing. She is still is in Mumbai. She was so sad when you left all of a sudden. You left before graduation which threw us all off" he says with a dissapointed expression. I sigh "virat what happened back then was the reason why I left. I was just confused and a bit hurt I guess." I say and chug my entire drink in one gulp. He gives me an interesting look "you ran away from our freindhip manvi! You didn't even give me a chance to take things under control!to fix it! I missed you! Where were you when I needed my best freind?" He says and looks out the window to hide his face. I tap his shoulders "were we even best freinds in the first place?" I ask and before he could reply we got interrupted by the Capitan who said we are starting to take off. There was an akward look between us and virat just ruffled his hair . "your engaged?"

He asks looking at myring finger that had a medium sized diamond ring. "Haan, his name is rahul. We met at MBA classes 2 years ago" I say casually. He nods . "well congratulations " he says. I give him a big smile. "What about you? Still with Maya?" I ask with a fake smile. ". Yes. We were going to get married last year but decided to postpone it. So we are living in right now" he says. I open my eyes big "wow living in? So you and Maya finally did it?" I ask without hesitation. Virat laughs "yes we finally did it but we did it 4 years ago after graduation. You had left werna meri best freind KO pata nhi hota kya?" He says with a smile. "Does she still hate me?" I ask quickly. Virat laughs again."more than god hates Satan! " he jokes. I look at him startled. "Right " I say akwardly.

Me and Maya used to be best freinds in college ,its crazy how everything changed in a blink of and eye.

"Manvi what happened that night , I'm sorry" virat says . I try to ignore him I didn't want to talk about it so I pretended I didn't hear him. I look the other way so that he thinks I'm thinking something and really didn't hear him. I turn to him "so what do you do?" I ask him casually. He was a bit hurt that he didn't get the reply the was expecting. "I own a small resteraunt chain around america" he says and pulls out a magazine from the seat pocket and flips through the pages. "You?" He aasks with his face still in the magazine. "Business executive of a graphic t shirt company" I say casually. All of a sudden the plane started shaking and instantly grip virats hand in fear. He looks at me. "Oh sorry" I say and pull back my hand. "Haha isn't it funny" he says. I shrug not knowing what he meant. "Its funny how we were so close that we shared a bed without hesitation today we can't even touch our hands" he says. I look at him with wide eyes."umm virat you make it sound like we slept together. " I say. Virat makes an obvious face . "haha no I didn't mean it that way".

*Flashback*

" virat ka bacha idhar ao" I say as I run after him. He jumps over my bed and dodges the pillow I threw at him. "Missed me missed me bet you want to kiss me" he says with a silly face. I fake a vomit. "Tujhe kiss kere meri jutti" I say. He laughs "face it your scared of my girlfriend werna kub ka you would have kissed me",he says and continues running around my room. " shut up virat she is my best freind I would never do that to her! Your a jerk of a boyfriend vese bhi!" I scream n finally grab him and pin him.to the bed ."haah mess with me" I say. Virat uses his strength and flips me over. This time he pinned me down. "Get off me !", I yell. " one condition!, can I sleep over!' He says and let's go and looks the other way. I pull my top down and sit up properly. He seemed upset. I tap his shoulders. "Kya huwa?" I ask. Virat turns around n laughs. "Manvi tum jub serious hoti ho toh bander lag ti ho" he says and laughs at.me. I roll my eyes. "Fine you can stay ! But on the floor!" I say and throw a pillow on the floor. Virat laughs again "kyew tujh sa control nhi hota? I'm too irresistible?" He asks while laughing. "Ek toh I'm letting you sleepover because your parents are probably screaming their guts out at each other at your house and upper sa dimakh kha raha ha mera" I say and virats smile turns into a frown. His parents issue was something that was obvious but whenever it was said he would be broken. "I'm sorry and pillow leke aja upper." I say

Its crazy how we used to be so close and now we have nothing to say. We were so close we had no formalities. We didn't care about stupid stuff like our gender differences. What mattered was that we were best freinds who could joke on the craziest things. But who knew so much would happen. How we would end up hating each other yet falling in love at the same time.
