Chapter 2:
Old wounds
Virats POV:
There was something about airplane bathrooms that freaked me out. Don't know what. But I don't know the way the toilet has no water and just sucks all the air of the world is creepy as hell and on top the sound of the flush can give anyone a heart attack. The way the bathroom is all compact and made up of that akward metal folding door is annoying .
I shrug the thought of the disturbing bathroom as is walk down the planes aisle, back to my seat.
Manvi was sitting on the seat towards the aisle. I tap on her shoulder and she stands up right away. "Oh you are back" she says and Gives me way to my seat. I just nod at her with a smile.
After we both settle down on our seats manvi rips open her blanket from a sealed packet that the plane had provided. I had to say no matter where you live, your style stays the same. I say that because manvi opened the packet with her teeth. How typical Desi. But I don't mind. Manvi was always the typical Desi type.
"It's chilly in here" she says and snuggles with her blanket. "Precisely" I reply with a smile.
I swear I was a wimp. Talking like such a sobered up man. Me and manvi used to be high even though we weren't really high. Because that was what we did to each other.
After manvi disapered from my life I often used to think about what happened, how I could have handled the situation differently. I feel guilty on what I did.
"So virat.." She said and I snapped out of my thoughts. "Hmm?" I asked her looking straight into her eyes. "Where do you live ? You just said you're going to new york to check on your resteruants there. So do you live in Chicago ?" She asks with a fascinating look. I pull half of her blanket and cover myself a little on the feet. "Actually I live in California. I go around the country alot thanks to my resteraunts . but you live in Chicago right?" I ask. Manvi blinks a yes. Strange how I understood that. "Been in Chicago since I ran away from home" she says with a smile. I look at her in amazement. "Wait I thought you ran away from college and your freinds. Did you run away from like your family? Like your home?" I ask worried about her answer. Manvi giggles and hits mY upper arm hard. "No silly. My parents are the ones who paid for my ticket to Chicago. I ran away from college and my freinds and to be honest you specifically." She said in a neutral tone. I give her a guilty look. I hold her hand and I have to say her hand was soft as a babies butt.
"Dekho I'm sorry " I say desperate for a forgival.
Manvi doesn't look me in the eyes. "Galti meri thi. I should have never kissed you' manvi says. I am stunned by her direct way of recaling *that* day.
I let out a small gasp and look the other way recalling that day. I look back towards manvi " but I kissed back". I say and manvi blinks as if she wasn't buying it. "Whatever I just don't get what happened to us that day? You were dating my best freind virat!! Do you know how much damage Maya did to my reputation after that?" She says with eyes ready to burst in tears.
I couldn't see manvi cry. I never could. Whenever I did I was always there for her. I wanted to hug her so she could feel better but the gap of 5 years and that huge fight didn't give me the right to do so. "Manvi please don't cry. I'm sorry for that. I don't know what got into maya back then. She regrets it now trust me." I say and hold manvis hand. I felt her engagement ring and awkwardly removed my hand. "Sorry" i say realising she isn't my Manny anymore. "Virat I'm sorry I ran off but know I want to keep in contact with you please! I missed you too much" she says and starts crying. I look at her surprisingly. I quickly pull out a hanky from my ripped denim jeans and hand it too her. "Don't cry please" I say . she grabs the hanky and wipes her tears and hugs me all of a sudden. I was taken by surprise I hesitantly wrapped my arms around her too. I patted her back. Her hair smelled ravishing. Haven't been this close to her since that kiss. She parted away and wiped her tears. "Sorry 5 saal ka dard tha nikal gaya" she said with a cute smile, tears still flowing. I stroke her hair lightly. "Manvi you haven't changed a bit. I love you" I say with a smile . Her smile changes to a frown. Her eyes gaze at me as if she just saw a ghost. "Excuse me?" She asks. I'm confused why she is reacting like that but then it hits me. "Oh. Stupid I have been your best freind since elememtery. Can't I love my best freind?idiot !" I say sounding casual.
It is true i love manvi choudry but as a best freind. I missed her over the years. I love her just like I love my male freinds ,my parents. Just because she is a girl doesn't mean I have to romantically love her. Like ya we acidently kissed but that was once.
Manvi smirks "sorry was thinking typically for a while." She says and smiles and rests her head on my shoulder. "I'm sorry for the things I said that day". I look at her " can we forget that day ?" She says. Only if I could forget that day,that day left a huge scar in my heart.
*flashback*
"Manvi come on we will be late for Mayas party" virat screams out side of manvis bedroom door, banging the door. Manvi opens the door and screams "kya ha? Teri girlfriend ki birthday bhage nhi jarahi" she yells. Virat was about to reply to her but his eyes stop as he looks at manvis outfit. She was wearing a light pink dress with a sweetheart neckline and spaghetti straps on the back. The dress had a soft golden tint to it. The jewellery she was wearing was very delicate and simple. Her hair was in a messy bun along with a French braid wrapping the bun.
Manvi noticed virat gazing and she snapped at his face and gestured that where was he lost.
"Aa sorry. You look beautiful Teri shaddi ha kya?" He asked with a smirk. Manvi rolled her eyes. "No its my best freinds 18th birthday and it is ballroom themed that's why I am wearing a ball gown." She said and rushed back to her room ,holding the bottom of her dress so she would not trip. Virat smiled at her and entered her room after her. "You girls get so dressed up and yet you never seem ready." He says annoyed and sits down on manvis bed. Manvi looks at him as she searches for something in her drawer. "Be a girl for one day and you will know how much work it takes too look like those stupid women in magazines!" She said annoyingly and finds her little bobby pin and pins it in her bun so it stays in place. "What work?" Virat asks . manvi looks at him and lets out a long laugh . she walks towards her bed and sits beside him. "What work? We have so much shit to do. We have to wax,shave, bleach firstly then we have to do facials,masks scrubs,cleansing, hair care,skin CARE, mousees, gels,hairsprays, oils,hair therapy,hair masks and dies, manicures, pedi cures,acrylic nails,nail art, buffing,steaming, then makeup, bronzer,blushes,foundation,concealer, highlighter,eyebrow pencil,eyeliner ,eye-shadow,eye-shadow primer,lip pencil,lip gloss,lipstain,lipstick,melted lipstick, fake lashes,mascara,mascara primer ,Body powder,deodorant,perfume then clutches,shoes,tops,dresses, jeans,leggings,tights,yoga pants,jegings, halter tops,tank tops ,heels,pumps,flats,2 strip shoes,purses,bags,belts,jewellery, brotches, clutches and oh I forgot the most important, bras,leingere..." Virat looks at her in shock and yells "okay stop! Stop!" He yells and manvi Burt's out laughing ,seeing his reaction. "Samjh gaya meri maa! Lerki ban na mushkil nhi namumkin ha." Khair choro just get ready." Manvi laughs and walks towards her closet and pulls out 5 inch heels. As she wears them her necklace falls off her and onto the floor. She gasps seeing it fall out of nowhere. The main center stone had come out. "Shit" she screams as she picks it up. Virat looks at her with a questioned face. She holds up her broken necklace and shows it to him with a sad face. "Just wear something else. Its okay" he says and points towards the huge jewellery chester. Manvi sighs and pulls out another necklace from it and tries wearing it but she just couldn't get the clasp in place. "Virat do you mind helping?" She asks him holding up the necklace. He rolls his eyes and walks towards her and holds both side of the necklace against her neck. He looks at her back and Her neck. He couldn't take his eyes off Her upper body. He gently closes the necklace and let's go of it. Manvi who was busy in her thoughts was all of a sudden spun around. Facing virat. He was looking deeply in her eyes. She was confused at first but then she got lost in his eyes too.virat leaned towards her neck and kissed her neck lightly. Manvi shivered and pushed him away."virat?" She yells. "I ..." He said stammering not knowing what to say?. Manvi looked at him in anger. "I what? We are best freinds virat and you are dating my other best freind. How could you?" She asked. Virat turned his confused expression to laughter. "Haha you thought I was serious? That look on your face! Haha hilarious!" He says while laughing. Manvi opens her eyes wide "that was not funny! Let's go now!" She says and barges out of her room. Virat stops laughing and makes a serious expression again.
At the party :
Virat and manvi walk inside together,hand in hand. Virat sees Maya and yells "hey Maya!" He says and runs towards her and quickly hugs her tight. "Happy birthday baby" he says and kisses her forehead. Maya grips him tighter in her arms. Manvi smiles as she watches from the corridor. She walks towards them with a cute smile. "Too much PDA guys get a room" she says a giggles. Virat parts away from Maya and gives manvi a noogie . "you both are my favorite girls. What would I do without you two." He says while giving them both a headlock. "Virat let go!!!" Manvi screams and pushes him away. Virat smirks at him. Manvi rushed towards Maya and hugs her . "happy birthday Maya! I love you" she says and Maya hugs her tighter." Ok enough of the lesbo show girls. Let's get this party started" he says. Manvi and Maya just roll their eyes at him. "OK enough everyone on the dance floor now " virat says and starts jumping in excitement. "Virat its a ballroom party not a disco party. Only slow sophisticated dances." Manvi says as she stops him. Maya laughs , "exactly. I'm going to have a father daughter dance with my dad. Virat why don't you dance with manvi." She says with a smile. Virat looks at manvi with a smile. He holds up his hand "may I ask for your hand for a dance Mademoiselle" virat says with a smile. Manvi looks at him shocked. "Haha why not" she says with a giggle and holds virats haroom. They both walk towards the dance floor and are in the middle of the room.
Virat fakes an ugly smile "don't know how to do this" he whispers. Manvi gives him a look. "Don't worry follow my lead" she says and moves back then front. She leads him throughout the dance.
The song changed and manvi immed iately recognized it. "This is my favorite song !" She yells scaring virat. He looks at her amazed. "Mein agar kahoon?" He asks. Manvi nods her head. Virat giggles and gestures as if he will puke. Manvi is stunned by his prefence of the song. She hits his arm lightly "its awfully romanticc" she says with s lovely look. Virat keeps shifting his position according to manvis dance. "You mean just awful" he says . "Tch shut up and just dance" she says.
Manvi swiftly follows the songs beat and guides virat with It.

Virat stares at manvi because she was really enjoying ballroom dancing. " OK now you have to spin me and I can't guide you on that so good luck" Manvi whispers.
Virat gulps and spins Manvi and catches her as she leans on her back. Manvi was diaganol to the floor and virat was holding her back. He was so lost in the twinkle of her eyes that he froze their.

He gazed at her beauty . Manvi was lost in his eyes too. She didn't look at him as she always does. She didn't consider him her best freind anymore. She felt comfort on his arms. Virat leamed closed to her face. Manvi closed her eyes. She didn't know what was happening but she had lost control on her body. Her body was lost in a bliss.
"So guys wasn't that a great song"/ Maya says as she walks toward virat and manvi. Virat and manvi come out of their embrace . virat panicks not knowing what is happening or where he is. He instantly let's go of manvis back and she falls hard on the ground. Manvi is taken by surprise when the floor hits her back hard.
" ouchh" she screams immediately.
Virat and Maya look at her in shock on the ground. "What the hell how did you just drop her like that" Maya yelled with big eyes. Virat who was standing on Manvi moved his leg on the other side . Manvi had fallen in between his legs because of the dance position she was dropped from.
Virat offers her his hand and pulls her up. Manvi scuffs dirt off her dress and looks at virat ashamedly. "I'm sorry" he says not looking into her eyes. Manvi doesn't say a word and walks away. It was clear that she was mad. "Shit" virat yells.
*flashback ends *
'Attention passengers. We are preparing to land. Please faten your seat belts and position your seats upright. We shall reach Chicago in 32 minutes'
I gulp as I hear the captains announcements. I had only 30 minutes left with Manvi and she was sleeping on my shoulder.
I want to wake her up so I can spend these 30 minutes with her but I also want her to get her rest and besides she is adorable when she sleep despite the fact she is a witch when she is awake.
