Chapter One
"You know Sanyukta," Randhir whispered, leaning towards her with one hand on the bookshelf. " - You have big eyes."
They were standing in the library at two in the morning. Randhir had sent her a text message, asking her to meet him there.
"Randhir, get to the point," Sanyukta snapped, covering her mouth to stifle her yawn. "I'm so tired with your nonsense, and you know we have PK sir's class tomorrow at 8."
Randhir smirked at the beautiful girl in front of him. It was nearly two years ago when he had first noticed her - his jealousy of seeing her close to Parth was not easy for him to admit, but soon enough, he admitted to himself that he was indeed frustrated with seeing her with the other man. Now, two years later, Sanyukta was the closest she had ever been to him.
"Big and beautiful," he carried on, gently stroking her cheek with his hand, causing Sanyukta to tremble.
Noticing what his touch did to her, he smiled victoriously, allowing his hand to move up her cheek, over her ear, and into her hair.
"What - what are you doing Randhir?" she asked him, her eyes widening. One of her hands reached out to hold the bookshelf as she tried to keep her balance.
"I'm doing what you want me to be doing," he whispered again, leaning even closer to her.
He could feel his heart throbbing - he wanted to kiss her really badly right now. He hadn't kissed her in years, yet the feeling of her soft lips on his still lingered like nothing else. He could remember the taste of her mouth, the way she breathed heavily once the kiss was done. He could still hear the faint gasp that had come out of her as she realized what she had done. Oh, what he couldn't do to go through that again.
"I - I don't want you to do anything to me," Sanyukta whispered, her breathing getting heavier, her body trembling even more as his hand crept up the back of her head.
Randhir reluctantly let go of her head and took a step back. He forced himself to smirk, as if this was his plan all along. "Okay then," he told her, in a mocking tone, "Go ahead - go back to sleep so you won't be late for PK sir's class tomorrow."
Her jaw dropped open.
"Are you kidding me Randhir?" She asked, anger boiling up in her system. "You called me down here to pretend you were going to kiss me?"
Randhir felt himself smile - he loved it when she got mad, she looked so cute. Of course, he would never admit that to Sanyukta herself.
"For your information Sanyukta, I was lying about your eyes - they aren't beautiful. They're just big - and when they look at me, I feel like I'm going to burn. Why would I want to kiss someone with eyes like that?"
He could see Sanyukta fuming in front of him, her face turning red. "Randhir!" she shouted.
"Sanyukta," he replied in a sarcastic tone. "I would love it if you realized that I could find much sexier girls to kiss."
She pursed her lips in response.
"You wasted my time Randhir!" she finally said, her voice shaking with pent up anger.
"Oh yeah? You really wanted me to kiss you?" he asked her smirking. "I was bored Sanyukta, and you're a total entertainment package."
She stepped forward and grabbed the collar of his shirt. Randhir could feel his heart beating erratically against his chest once again.
"Now you want to kiss me madame?" he managed to get out, words failing him.
She looked at him in the eye and moved even closer to him, pressing her body against his as she pushed him back against the bookshelf. Randhir grabbed Sanyukta's waist with both of his hands as she slid her arms around his neck.
"We're graduating in a month Randhir. We have exams in two weeks. Please, for the sake of your grades if not mine, leave me alone!" she said as seriously as possible.
"Now Sanyukta, you didn't need to get this close to me to tell me that," Randhir pointed out with a wink, "You know, I have ways that can help you relieve some exam stress."
"Ugh you're shameless," she replied with a disgusted tone, her body still firmly pressed against his.
Randhir moved his hand up the side of her body, up to the skin behind her ear, where he tucked her hair. He leaned in to her ear and whispered, "And you're the one who decided to come so close to me."
He brushed his lips against the lobe of her ear, causing her to shiver.
"R - Randhir," she whispered.
He could feel her heart beating frivolously against his own.
"I know you want me," he whispered even more softly against her ear as he wrapped his arms tightly around her waist and pulled her as close to him as was humanly possible.
"No, you want me more," she replied stubbornly.
Randhir chuckled and buried his face in her hair. He trailed his lips past her ear and up to her burning cheek.
"It isn't your eyes that burn me, it's your cheeks," he whispered, causing her to tremble once more. "If I tell you I do want you more, what will you do?"
"I - I don't know," she said in response.
Sanyukta pulled herself slightly away from him and looked him in the eye. "I'm scared Randhir," she whispered.
"Of what?" he asked, pulling her closer to him so she could lean her head against his chest. He wanted to shield her from her worst fears. He became way too invested in Sanyukta over the last few years, and he couldn't fight the desire to protect her from everyone and everything that may get in her way.
"Of broken hearts."
