Now that I'm done with all of my tests for this week, I can update with a lighter heart.

Chapter Two: Excerpt

A portly woman dressed in a green sari with a red border, made of the finest Kancheepuram silk opened the door. She carried a plate with a lighted diya, fresh vibuthi streaked right beneath her large red bindi. The traditional, six diamond flower earrings glinted from her ears, a matching nose ring sitting neatly on the corner of her nose.

"Enna ma, naaldre mani than aarthu! Who on earth could be ringing the doorbell at four thirty? Aiyo!! Ithu enna?!" The woman stepped back, her mouth falling open into a comical O' as she appraised the exhausted looking Khushi and Arnav standing outside her door.

Arnav's once pristinely ironed suit was now wrinkled and smelled of musk and sweat, his hair even more ruffled than it was before. He looked haggard with the thick layer of stubble on his cheeks. Khushi's arm had a light purplish bruise from where one of the men had grabbed her. A streak of mud ran from her lower jaw to the corner of her nose, her hair pulled back messily into a bun that was falling apart.
