Understanding Khushi

chapter 1

Khushi wiped her tears and moved out of arnav's room. She still couldnot believe that after everything she and arnav had undergone together arnav still held on to the Contract marriage thing. With great difficulty she convinces herself that she had kept herself in illusion that arnav will change towards her. It was true that arnav now knew that she was also a victim ,but he still considered her to be his contract wife.

With determination to accept the truth of her marriage and silently move out his house at end of six months, she wiped her tears and moved down the stairs towards kitchen. She prepared plates for everyone and sent them to everyones room with help of hp and jp. She sent Jp to arnavs room with his food ,medicines and coffee as she did not wish to face him. She then silently moves out of the kitchen and goes to the terrace to be able to cry freely so that nobody could hear her.

In the room

Arnav was pacing, thinking he would win back his khushi his wife before the end of six months.He silently looks out towards the poolside, moves out and looks at the sky and apolozises to his mama and khushi's parents for bringing out the contract thing to stop khushi from leaving and hurting khushi and also tells them that he had no other choice because khushi being selfless would not have listened to anything he said.

He further promises them that he would wipe away all her tears and bring so much love and happiness in her life that she will forget all these hurtful things she had to endure. He promises his mama that he will make himself repent everything wrong he did to khushi with his heart and his suffering and tears will act as balm of khushi's wounds. Little did he knew that his tears and wounds were the one that hurt his khushi most.

While he was entering back inside his room he realised somebody knocking his door .Just then JP entered his room with his food and coffee stating he had to take his medicines too, which were also lying along his coffee in the tray. JP exited the room,without asking arnav knew that it was his khushi who had sent him this food and medicines cause she was the only one who would care for him so selflessly after everything.

But little did khushi know that arnav more than medicines and food ,needed her,just a look of her and all his pain would lessen and his determination to woo her back would cement further in his heart.

When after an hour of crying at terrace khushi had decided what to do, she realised that arnav had made it all easy for her...when all this during the kidnapping trap she had forgotten that there was this news ,which will change everyones life forever. So she decided to go with the flow... wait for another 10 days marking end of six months, till then stay as invisible as posssible. at end of 10 days return back to her buajee's house.

make arrangements for babujees treatment and her responsibilities before...

She returned back to arnav's room ,to find him sitting on the recliner and his food untouched. Arnav knew khushi must not have had anything . He asked her if she wanted him to eat his food and medicines she must eat along with him. Khushi wanted to refuse but then she thought about his diabetes and he had to take care about himself because anjali di needed him. Realising that whether he loved her or not ,she had always loved him, and still loves him, she gave in and went down and got a chappati and small amount of dal for her.

Both of them sat silently and ate , khushi made sure arnav took his medicines and then collected everything to send them back to kitchen. She came back arnav's room to find him waiting for her. He looked straight into her eyes... his eyes speaking loud volumes... khushi understood each one of his emotions but didnot react. She had to be strong. Arnav broke the trance and said "Khushi I know, you and me both..." but couldnot complete it.He again tried "Khushi I know you understand me even when I am not able to say it.I just want you to share my bed with you. I promise I would not cross my limits and you know that,however bad I am,I still respect you and value your self respect. ...(pause)...Its just that sleeping close to you ,holding your hand gives me peace and serenity which I have never found in last 14 years. Its gives me power and determination to fight against anything that wants to hurt you and di...please khushi..."

Khushi loves him so much, She knew whatever he said earlier was to stop her from going and he becomes desprate when it came to her and in his desparations he resorts to his anger which makes his take these hurtful ways. So she couldnot deny him anything...Not when he was so vunerable...so she moved ahead and lay herself on his side of the bed... she did not know what came into her mind , that she occupied his side which he had never given her...she waited for his anger ...but it never came.

He came over and occupied her side of the bed ,pulled the duvet, came closer to her , held her hand and slept almost instantly.

That moment khushi realised that it is going to be difficult for her. She knew Arnav held and protected what he loved. and she knew that moment that he loved her with all his heart and soul...he could not express but his actions speak spoke louder than his words .They way he held her, her hand. She knew that he was not the man who left what he loved. He was the one to fight till he gets what he loves. And she knew HE LOVED HER ,but She also loved him and She had to leave him to save him from the PAIN.Thinking over of taking each day at a time she too slept...snuggling closer to her husband...seeking his warmth...his love...Arnav too relaxed more and pulled her closer onto himself...making a silent promise that it is always going to be this way. His wife shall always remain within confines of his arms.He will make sure of that because he knew this is the only happiness he ever got in his life sent by his mother... and he will hold onto it forever.

chapter 2

in the early hours of morning

Arnav and khushi were sleeping peacefully after long time finding solace and peace in each others arms.

khushi was snuggled completely in his chest and arnav had interlocked both his hands around her. khushi had buried her head inside the crook of his neck, her one hand held onto his collar tight and other was wound around his waist.

The early morning light slighly disturbed Arnav's peaceful slumber and he slowly woke up feeling very peaceful and conent. then he felt some light breathing on his neck to realise that his khushi was all plastered into him. breathing in his neck, holding him tight. he watched both of them in such a state and a small smile adorned his face. His determination further cemented to always keep her this close to him.

He looked at her, she looked so pure and beautiful ,void of any makeup. he wondered she could give his any million dollar model a run for money even without any make. Thus making him realise that no wonder he had so much talent to identify beauty and so it was so apt for him to have such a beautiful wife to complement him perfectly.

He could not remove his eyes from his sleeping angel and at that moment a thought crossed his mind ...may be some day when he and khushi will start there own family, he will have a small beautiful daughter just like khushi , who will just like khushi snuggle comfortably in his arms and he will have two angles snuggled within confines of his arms...,he blushed at the thought of his.Just as he was about to move bit , khushi and moaned at loss of his warmth,making him go back to his position. He held her more tightly and pulled her towards himself and she came in without any resistance.

After an hour or so Khushi started to get awake so Arnav pretended to be asleep. Khushi woke up realizing her position.She tried to wriggle out but found her laadgoverner to be very strong. She found so much peace over his face that she couldnot will herself to wake him up. So she just decided to enjoy his love and warmth because may be this was all that she may get in her this life. So she remained the way she was the whole night, just seeing her love Arnavji. unkown to her ,her devi maiya had different plans for her.

20 minutes later arnav thought that only keeping her confined will not help.He will have to show her that he did not meant what he said and he had no intentions of ever leaving her because she was, is and shall always remain his, his wife and that he loved her dearly and that contract was never true...it was absolutely fake.He was pondering on how to show that to khushi when he thought why show? why not just give khushi all he would give to his wife...i.e. LOVE ,ATTENTION ,POWER OVER HIM and demand his rights and love equally.

He opened his eyes to find khushi looking into his eyes. The trance broke when khushi realised she was holding him, she panicked and looked at him fearfully ,awaiting his anger and started to remove her hand from his collar and waist when arnav held and stopped her hand, she feared but what he said next just blew away her fears and senses

" Khushi its ok!! relax you can hold onto me whenever and wherever you want, it dont mind it infact I love it. You dont need to be afraid, you can do that, you are my wife."

just as khushi was about to pull away she found arnav climbing on top of her and pinning her belo him very gently, she voiced herself " what are you doing?" to which he moved closer to her ,when he was almost brushing her cheeks he spoke " you are my wife and I am allowed to love my wife anyway I want" then he gently kissed her on both her cheeks and got down from top of her and left for his jogging.

after a few minutes khushi came out of the trance to understand that what just happened was real and she felt absolutely happy,she got up,tided the bed and collected her clothes and left for bathroom. while bathing she realised that arnav was trying to woo her and she cannot give in to his wooing. Making her decision she got dressed and moved down for preparing breakfast.

The house was quite and she busied herself to prepare the breakfast. Just then Payal entered the kitchen, she seemed lost and khushi understood maybe akash jeejaji was upset with her. Her doubts got confirmed when akash came down but didnot even glance at her jeeji very unlike his usual lovey dovey self.

She again cursed herself for being the reason. Just as payal left the kitchen, mamijee entered the kitchen and cursed her for such state of anjali bitiya. And khushi cursed herself for being there.mamajee was so engrossed in ranting curses and blaming her that she didnot realise that khushi had burned her hand and was trying to stop her tears. After few minutes after giving her instructions about the breakfast she left. Khushi paid no attention to her burn and carried on her work.

All the breakfast was layed on the table, she had taken care that everything was according to anajalij di's diet chart. The whole house slowly came down for the breakfast and everyone was surprised to see anjali also coming to the table. just as khushi saw her coming she escaped from there not wanting to hurt her more and went and sat on the terrace crying her out. Whole time during the breakfast two people missed khushi and exactly knew why she was missing. her arnavji and nani knew what she was sacrifising for this family.

the breakfast was joolly and happy affair.

after breakfast all dispersed. Arnav told akash and him shall work from home for a few days. Arnav went to his room to find khushi missing. He went searching for her to find her on the terrace, sitting in the shade doing some piece of writing in some thick diary, but soon was distracted towards her swoollen eyes and he knew she had been crying. he went towards her and without any warning picked her up. not listening to her constant ranting brought her to his room and sat her on the recliner. But khushi got up and said

"You dont need to do all this...

why are you doing this...

as we know I am the cause behind everything ...

then just let me suffer for these nine days before end of our contract...

already I am the reason for shyamji's betrayal, anjaliji's state, and now jeeji's state...

pause

i was the reason behind breaking of jeeji's first marriage and I cannot afford again become the reason of her failed marriage. I can see jeeji and akash jeejaji drifting apart and I am the reason...so I beg you to not make my going away difficult and let me complete these 9 days here quitly and I promise I will go so far away that not even my evil shadow will touch you and your, my jeeji's family...

just let me suffer...

see the reason you married me was anjali ji and I married you for my jeeji

so let us not complicate it . lets not bring our feelings and guilt into it. Let the contract serve its purpose

and then you can move ahead...

marry some girl with status and money...

have a happy family with her...

your di will be happy...

mamiji will be happy...

akash jeejaji will be happy hence jeeji would be happy...

and about me, dont worry, I am so use to this Pain that I no longer feel it.

My happiness holds no consequence... no value...

if so many people can be happy at my cost ... than why not...

I am nobody...just an orphan...and shall always remain so...MY happiness is not Important...so just let it be..."

she chocked and fell down crying.

Arnav couldnot take anymore , his patience snapped. he knew his anger would do no good but right now he had to tasks in hand. firstly to tell that what all she has said is all bullshit and secondly put some brain inside that dumb Akash and mamijee too.

The words ...

cause behind everything...

let me suffer for nine days...

i will go far away...

you marry somebody...be happy...

i am use to pain...i no longer feel it...

my happiness is not important...

echoed in his mind, determined to wipe away all these depressing thoughts and accusations from her mind and heart and to make her understand her importance in his life, his family, her family and her happiness,he in two steps moved towards khushi picked her up. Pinned her to the nearest wall. trapping her between her two strong hands...he calmed himself down...and spoke to her in a controlled and authoritative voice.

his voice and manner was not of buissnessman or a brother. It was of a husband, a poccessive husband, a lover and most importantly a protector an soul mate who was out to protect what was his, his khushi, his wife . And he shall protect it at any cost.

chapter 3

Arnav though had pinned her down on the wall but his hands which held her were strong and firm but not hurting. He held her in a protective and poccesssive manner. He knew khushi had suffered ,that she had convinced herself that she has been destined to bear this hurt and happiness.

Arnav slowly came closer to her face and pinned her lower body with his lower body but it was all innocently and nothing deliberate. It was a natural response to her sagging body.He in a very calm and authoritative manner told her "Khushi you are not the reason for anything... you are as much a victim as anyone else...even more , and you are the sole reason that shyam could not harm my di, me and both families. You are the one because of whom I am standing alive ... if you would not have risked your life and saved me , I would have been dead ..." Khushi could not bear the thought of arnav being dead ...she immediately hit him slighly on his cheek and started to hit him on his chest when arnav caught her hand but she did not stop. she ranted out " how could you just say that... how can you talk about death...clearly when the thought of you dying kills me..." .She was angry now, arnav still held her hands and she shouted back again. " Mr. ARNAV SINGH RAIZADA ...I know ,I am your contract wife ,but I saved you... do you understand that ... and from that moment your life belongs to me ...do you understand this...you were the one to leave me ,when I warned you on the airport but you did not stop and walked youself into a grave danger so just...so you have absolutely no right on your life...it belongs to me...and dont you dare talk about dying."

Arnav could not believe his luck.he was thrilled.he felt like flying. khushi's outburst was like all his questions of last 14 years, his quest of last 14 years had come to an end. He got his answer that he belonged to her just like she belonged to him. His determination further cemented.

Just when he was about to answer her back ,a new realisation hit him, khushi was behaving wifely...she was claiming her stack on him. if someone else would have said this ,he would have been torn to shreads , but the claim from khushi's heart thrilled him to core which even his million dollar deal could not provide him.

This whole though process of arnav provided khushi time to realize what she had said, and the fear on her face was clearly visible. Aranv saw that and immediately he leaned towards her and kissed her gently on her lips... she was shocked and tried to move aside but arnav held her and pinned her back. And with new vigour and happiness, he tells her " Absolutely khushi...you have every right on me. So you can do anything...anything you want , just like I had and have every right on you...". he was cut in between by khushi who asked "right on me...?" but arnav stopped her. "yes I have every right on you , since the time I first met you at sheesh mahal. and I too hate it when you talk about you like this. You are the most important person in my life. Your happiness is my priority. You are not born to suffer. You are not born to bear pain".He was getting angrier word by word as he remembered her words."you are not going to suffer I wont let you suffer, you will not bear the pain...you say you no longer feel pain , yes you will no longer feel pain because I would not let the pain touch you...Do you get it..." his volume was getting louder.He saw some realisation and hope in her eyes, but he was still angry...he continued " Khushi I can not marry again. I am already married to you. You are my wife and I can only love you. and you shall be the one to bear my kids, my family ...no one else in this world can be Mrs arnav singh raizada. just keep this in your mind and just like you claimed your rights over my heart and life, I have the same rights about you. I know I have hurt you but Only I have the right to Hurt you, love you,kiss you ,pocccess you,claim you ,make up to you, wipe yor tears, pleasure you and fill your life with happiness and YOU ARE MINE SO YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO DECIDE ABOUT YOUR PAIN, IMPORTANCE and HAPPINESS."

with that he saw that she had heard and absorbed everything and He just hoped that she believed some of it atleast. She was feeling drousy and arnav understood it was beacuse of all the crying, talking and stress.So he gently picked her up ,she had no energy left to protest and carried her to his side of the bed and laid her gently and asked her to rest for a while. And before leaving her he teased her "khushi just like you claimed right over me...i love when you claim right over my side of the bed...I hope one day we shall mutually share single side of this bed." her eyes widened and she blushed with a small smile and asked "how...?"

arnav was amused at her question and decided it was better to answer her question, just to give her what he and she are going to share as husband and wife. He came closer to her and wispered in her ears " i mean me on top of you or may be you on top of me...".she blushed more and he left her to see over with his di and two more idiots in his house akash and mamiji.

Anjali's Room

Arnav entered di's room and found her to be smiling ad knitting her a sweater for her new born. He was relived to find her like this.When anjali saw his chote ,she called him to sit near her on the bed. Arnav somehow found her relaxed and normal unlike yesterday. She was loving her child again. It was a good sign. He came and sat and asked her "are you alright di?". anjali understood what he wanted to ask, but before answering him she hugged him and started to speak. "i am fine chote. what I did yesterday was a sin and I know how it must have hurt you...I am sorry and I promise I wont do it again.I know and understand how much you and everyone care and love me. ". Arnav could not understand but he thought that his di must be absorbing shyams betrayal now and was moving past it , little did he know that his di was stronger than him and she was over with shyam this morning only.

Arnav replied "Its ok di, after what happened I understand...and " but anjali interrupted him " No dont talk about it, its depressing, lets leave it. And after you married khushi ,you have stopped answering me. its ok, but I still love you."

arnav knew he had to answer his di today "no di, its not like that. just listen to me di, I know you trust me ,

Di , I had married khushi not because I loved her but because of you" anjali got curious "Khushi became my wife because of you and your child, so that I could stop shyam from hurting you."he clenched his teeth and cleared his throut." khushi married me to give shyam chance to reform back after knowing you were pregnant, and we thought he would change if he found that khushi belonged to someone else and you were pregnant. Khushi did not even know that I loved her. Infact before marriage I just cared for her, but it was after marriage I fell in love with her. Her concern and caring nature towards you was the most significant thing that made me fell more in love with her" anjali was speechless then arnav asked her "di you always said about some girl for whom my breaths will stop. khushi is that girl ,I love her a lot di. But she will never come between you and me di. just remember that". Anjali was so thrilled at hearing this from arnav ,she always knew khushi was innocent and perfect for his brother.she hugged arnav and said " i always know that chote. and I am so glad that you remember what i said and more than that , i have someone other than me to love you, care for you and dont worry i will teach her to trouble you too, just like me". arnav could not stop the chuckle that escaped. Finally his di and his khushi will again be patners to bring trouble , happiness and love back in his life. he said "how will i manage two crazy ladies" to which he was slapped by anjali lovingly.

after settling his di and content with the progress (though he had twisted the tale a bit, so that the marriage blackmail remained between him and khushi and khushi too gets due credit for what she did for his family...no their family he corrected).

he was moving towards akash only when he found mamaji, nani and mamiji in the lobby and he decided to get a closure over mamiji's matter. he came over to them and his posture and expressions told all of them that he was here for some serious buissness. he straightly came over to the matter and said " mamiji , i know you love me and di just like akash and you had dreams about my wife too. But I love khushi and she is the best for this family in ways more than you know, even me .So just because you love di and do not like khushi ,it does not mean you will put all blaim on khushi for no fault of hers" mamiji tried to interrupt but arnav cut her " just because nani told khushi to stay away from her and she went to di and then all that happened , you without knowing that khushi was not the reason behind di's such step, i talked to di, you came and complained me against her. And I like a fool lashed out on her. So just stop all this . Khushi is as much as victim as di. She has even endured more pain than di. she doesnot cry and complain that does not mean she is not hurt or broken". mamiji felt guilty and replied " i am sorry bitwa. I was wrong ,I knew it. dont worry I will reform myself" to which naniji says " you better understand that khushi has done so much for this family and she was the one to bring back our bitwa back safe." arnav could not control and blurted out " she almost died saving me nani. I had lost her. You know even yesterday I scolded her so much that she has taken the accusation all to herself. and you know she sits on the terrace with a duppatta on her mouth to cry so that nobody can hear her and notice her.So that di is paid attention too and she remains invisible." Both nani and mamiji understood his and khushi's pain and silently decided to bring happiness in his and khushi's life too because they knew that they both were the core of happiness to anjali and this house and after doing so much they deserve this happiness.

after settling with mamiji , his next target was to fix the brain of his idiot brother akash. who was just another fool like him. so he thought it was better that akash learns from his brothers mistake rather than doing it himself beacuse he might not be lucky enough to get a second chance. Just then akash came to him to get some signatures. Arnav asked him to follow him to the study. Akash followed him.

chapter 4

Akash followed Arnav to the study. Akash was surprised when Arnav closed the door of the study. Akash thought may be bhai wanted to talk something about his will or about buissness or may be about that cheat shyam. But his his bhai's stiff form told him that what he wanted to talk about was very serious stuff.

akash asked him "bhai are you ok? what did you want to talk about." Arnav gave a long hard stare to akash before he composed himself to stuff his brother with some sense. he continued " from when have you started to become like me akash. I from when have you started to judge people like me. You were always caring and sensitive. tell me akash." akash could not understand anything. he didnot understand a bit. so arnav continued " you loved payal , you married her because you were so much in love with her. right? you considered her to be good for you. you even fought with mamiji for her, Then what has changed now." Akash was stumped, but he continued " Akash you always believed her , you had faith in her love , but a little misunderstanding from that shyam took all your love and trust away. Is this your love. you didnot bother to think that if payal hid something this big, it must have been for your own good. Hiding shyams true identity was beneficial for di and infact it was more dangerous for her sister to hide it, but still she did for our di.

akash you should realise how she must have saved khushi from that shyam day and night in this house but still she kept quit for us. I know you are hurt that she kept this from you but that does not mean she cheated on you." Akash for the first time in last 3 days felt sorry for payal. but arnav still did not stop. "you know what Dont repeat the same mistake I did with khushi. I punished her for no mistake of her. And you know I almost lost her once and then I realised that I was taking her too granted when she deserved nothing but love. It killed me akash. Do not take her for granted, life may not give you a second chance. " Akash spoke cutting arnav " you are right bhai. I should not have behaved like this with her after all she did this all for us, I have wronged her and released all my frustration on her. hurt her, scolded her for taking care of khushi ji and she never complained back. I feel so pathetic."

Arnav knew his brother's lost brain was back on right track but this talk required closure so he said

" Akash even a thought of someone hurting di, hurts us to core and we get all charged up. Khushi is payal' s sister , so its natural for her to think about her well being all the time ,especially when khushi was hurting all the time. You Know We are lucky to have them because THEY CONSIDERED OUR DI AS THEIR OWN DI , BUT WE FAILED TO MAKE THEM OURS. YOU AND ME BOTH REMAINED HEARTLESS TOWARDS PAYAL AND KHUSHI RESPECTIVELY. we have hurt them and I dont know about Payal but Khushi will never be happy if payal is not happy. never". akash cuts him " bhai do not worry, I have learnt my lesson and Khushiji will be happy because I will keep payal happy. I will love and trust her always. I promise."

Arnav before existing the study in his ASR tone says "AKASH you better love and take care of payal because Payal is very important for khushi and her pain distrupts my life, khushi's happiness and I hate that. So I will be behind your butt if you disturb my married life."

Akash could not help but chuckle at his bhai's deal like approach for his wife's happiness. But soon his smile dimmed at he headed in search of his payal , his real happiness.

Akash saw payal alone in the kitchen and approached her to find her instructing HP about di's food and was sending di's lunch to her room and then everybody elses lunch tray followed, but not bothering about khushi and herself's lunch. Just then his mom approached her and asked her about her and khushi's plate to which she replied that she and khushi will have it later, the landline rang and his mom left to receive it. Akash entered the kitchen , payal looked up and she asked if he needed something, he said nothing and piled some more food in bhai's plate and then in his own plate and called HP to send bhai's lunch in his room, telling him to ask bhai and khushiji to have lunch. HP left , Payal was baffled and looked towards him to which he replied that i think bhai and khushiji can share a plate, jhoota khane se pyaar increase hota hai. Payal could not believe this change in him, he was back to his lovey dovey self, her akashji was back. before she could say anything he held her face in his hands and said " I am sorry. I love you and please forgive me. I was a fool not to understand you and took out all anger of that cheat shyam on you. Give me a chance to rectify my mistake." Payal smiled back indicating he was forgiven .So he continued so shall we go , she asked where to which he replied " pyaar badhane, jhoota khake" and payal blushed.

In Arnav's room

khushi woke up after her little nap and was happy that arnav loved her, but her decision was made. She was content. She got up and saw Arnav sitting on the poolside working on his laptop.Then she saw a trolley in with his lunch. She was baffled to see the quantity of the food, by that time arnav also saw what she was thinking. So a naughty thought crossed his mind and with his smirk he said " I think HP wants to save his dish washing time. So lets help him,we can share a plate my wife, come sit I feel feed you. You know if di sees me like this, she will tease me to no end everyday till I run away" She smiled and decided to enjoy the moment. They fed each other and than sat down holding each other.

The dinner was again a quit affair with chote and di together and payal and khushi together. khushi could see that her jeeji was happy and she was thrilled.

they all retired for the night and again arnav and khushi slept like previous night and the night was even more passion filled for akash and payal. erasing all their pain.

Chapter 5

When Arnav woke up next morning he found himself tangled with khushi. She was sleeping in confines of his embrace, he felt like stopping the time at this moment. This moment was so serene and peaceful . The kidnapping track had made him accept things that he never found courage to express. He had said I love you to her, he had confessed he had given her complete right to her over him. But still so much was left which he wanted to tell her , confess to her. And he will do so, but in appropriate time so that it reaches her heart and most importantly he wanted to tell her the answer to " why does it always matter"(kyun pharak padta tha hamesha). This time he knew the answer would leave her completely overwelmed. She will get what she always deserved , his love, his passion, his poccessiveness, his confession .

He was not in the mood to get up but he had to go for his daily jog. He slowly got up and saw that khushi had frowned at loss of his touch. He was so happy that she also wanted him as much as he wanted her. These feelings were so mutual. He smiled and left for jog.

When he returned back he found her to be busy in the kitchen with payal.she looked ethereal in her simple yellow salwar suit sans any makeup. Her long slender neck was adorned with his mangalsutra and small studs in her eyes.Her delicate wrists were adorned with simple yellow and orange glass bangles. He had always admired her style of dressing up so simply and yet look so beautiful and this natural beauty of her had captured his heart. She looked better than any of his makeup made million dollar model, she could give any of them run for money. He decided at that instance that he shall launch an indian range of attires on her name.

He went upstairs to get ready, little did he know that wooing her is not going to be that easy. Just as he entered his room HP came asking him about a diary which he found on the terrace. Arnav immediately recognised it to be Khushi's. He took it from him and locked the door. He decided he was khushi's husband so he could read her diary too. He opened it and was shocked to find it seemed to be some kind of account book. The first half of it was full of some expenditure details. He looked at the other half. The first page of it dated some 2 years back , it was a diary entry were khushi wrote about her wish to persue MBA from IIM lucknow was fulfilled. Though she had cleared the exam easily but fees was a problem for her, but soon she thanked her devi maiya for getting her the tata student of the year scholarship which would fund for her higher education. Aranv was shocked . for the first time he found that there are people who are still so grounded. Reading through several pages he found that khushi was a double graduate in economics and mathematics and was a university topper that's why she was awarded with the scholarship. No wonder why she was so sharp with mathematics and business strategies. At that moment another thing strikes his mind that he was such a fool, he always thought that khushi was little uncomfortable with English but he realised that she was not uncomfortable but infact she was well versed with both the languages, she never found it difficult to understand or interpret English because she never required any help in his all English office. Actually she translated all his heavy English so easily in hindi so easily because she understood all of it so easily. He found his Harvard brain almost useless , this should have clicked him back then, that she understood it all too well that is why she could answer back or how could she translate his Harvard English so effortlessly if she did not understand it. Many instances pointed to it first she answered that pam model of his who was accusing her in English only, then those fools who came to cheat in his company too only spoke in English only. Lavanya too was weak at hindi and often communicated in English and khushi always understood her. He laughed at his foolishness and then wondered to ask khushi if she was graduate in hindi too because he found her hindi too diificult.

Flicking through several more pages he was shocked to discover that Khushi had two siblings, twins, poorvi and poorav , 4 years younger to her , who she had always kept away from home due to some threat, first at Banglore for schooling and then sent them to London for higher education. She was their sole guardian. He was confused that why would khushi keep them away but his understanding told him, it must have been something really big that she had to take such a step. But he wondered why he had not seen them ever and even khushi and payal never mentioned them. His query was answered in later pages of the diary where she mentioned some threat to lives of twins at lucknow during there visit to payal's previous broken marriage. He realised there was more to the story and he knew that khushi would confide in him when he will woo her back. Going through pages after revealed lot about how she alone used to manage the finances of their education and living along with her and payal's education too. She mentioned about missing them and waited eagerly for both of them to turn over 21, so that the danger to their lives was no more. He explored further to find her to be very talented and her diary gave him an insight of her pain and burdens she carried behind her smile. The smile which used to hide her pain , the act of jalabi making was just a mask to deviate people from seeing through her pain. Today his respect for her sored higher. Now he realised that how and why both of them understood each other so well because they made same kind of efforts for their di and twins respectively. Both of them feared for them, cared for them so much.The diary revealed so much . He decided to explore some more from payal later on.

The later pages of diary were recent , when they met at sheesh mahal and payal's marriage broke and khushi held herself responsible. Then what he read further increased his guilt further. He was the sole reason that even after completing her MBA khushi could not go and receive her degree because the tapes that he had released had tarnished her image so much that she had to leave for delhi without attending her award ceremony . He made a note of going and personally collecting her degree with all dew respect.

He was about to close the diary when he thought of gong through the first half too. Now he understood that those were here expenses and financial details. Those were the details of her siblings fees etc how and when and what amounts were to be paid. All there expenses and requirements were listed out with budget. The later pages were filled with the details of loans she had borrowed and returned after payal's marriage broke and her father had become ill and she was the sole bread earner in the house. She used to manage all the expenses.

It had all the details of expenses she had managed and arranged for payals marriage with akash. It mentioned she had single handedly managed the entire wedding from a fixed deposit of her, which her parents had kept aside for her.

What followed next was her list of her father's treatment expenses which she met from her KKGSR dabba service which seemed to have earned handsomely but still could not meet the treatment expenses so Khushi had sold her jewellery which her real parents had kept aside for her wedding( her adopted parents were unaware of it).She had mentioned it in the diary just to keep a record.

The page second last and last written page shocked him. It stated "LOAN FROM MR. RAIZADA" Its had five columns i.e date, amount,reason, interest and payable amount. And the table held several records. The 1 lakh she had to pay for leaving the job, the 30,000 thousand for damage to his car, the hospital bill of 2 lakh he paid for her father , the 20,000 thousand lehanga he gave her as a tip, the 300 rupees she borrowed during holi and lastly her daily expenses for six months of contract marriage. She had even calculated interest on each of them and the whole grand total of some rupees 5 lakh 70 thousand was already calculated. Arnav closed the diary and held it close to himself.

His heart was in pain as he remembered how he called her to be opportunist when she never kept a penny of anyone else's. He cried, he had to rectify this too. His wife was independent women with self-respect and he loved that about her. He fell in more love with himself.

After a few minutes he composed himself and said "I will make sure you always remain independent like this, but I will love that you will be dependent on me, not because of my ego but because I will provide me with the satisfaction that you willingly depend on me and you need me.

He gave the diary back to HP and asked him to ask khushi about it, without telling her that you gave it to me first. He showered at got ready for breakfast.

Chapter 6

Again di was present at the table and khushi was missing, He was about to go and find her and tell her that di was never angry with her and never blamed her. And infact di wanted her, but nani called him aside and told him that buaji called and asked if khushi or payal could go to her home for some days as she needed some help. She preferred if khushi bitya came because she was more capable with the kind of help she required, so I asked payal and khushi , payal was refused by khushi, and khushi said it was better for anajali too that she went , So with my permission she went. Arnav was telling nani that di was ok with khushi and they were wrong in keeping khushi away from di ,when payal too came and arnav told her that everything was fine, and don't worry. The conversation ended and they headed to the full dining table.

But arnav felt empty as if his soul had left him, it was true his soul had left him, but he knew it was just temporary and he will make sure its duration is shortened. At the table Anjali saw Arnav's face and then looked around and knew his khushi was missing, and everyone except nani and payal were shocked when Anjali enquired about khushi, nani told her that khushi was required by buaji.

Arnav was surprised when his di smirked at him, he knew ,her smile told him that she was about to pull his leg, but seeing her smile he was ready for her teasing program. Anjali then very casually looked up and said " khushiji is so enduring that wherever she goes everybody gets so much dependent on her. Even her buaji can not manage without her " arnav knew what was coming next " And from the time she has come into our lives , we have also become so dependent on her, see at our silent breakfast table which depends on her some chattering and life and look HP tea is all blant in comparison to her masala dar chai to which even mamiji is addicted." Nani agreed " nani look at chote even he is looking like a lost puppy , missing her already chote " she teased and arnav knew this was coming . he spoke grudgingly " puppy ...di" to which his di nodded innocently. Arnav was releaved that di was ok and she was over with her teasing session but what she said next was even more .

"chote , I was thinking about what you said yesterday that you will find it hard to deal with my and khushi's mad company together. But I was wondering what will you do if my little one too, adds up in my and khushiji's mad gang" aranv chocked on his coffee and mamiji came to stroke his back. He looked with amusement towards his di to which his di replied " actually chote, its known that the child resembles the person who spends maximum time wih the expecting mother, and khushi tends to spend a lot of time with me . And on her arrival I tend too continue that , so it can be ..." arnav cut his di in between and said "...di , I think I should go, even the idea of it scares me and you better start spending sometime with me , so that the little one learns to keep quite , otherwise if it inherits khushi's chattering , then god save our ears." Anjali and payal laughed but others could not believe that arnav could be so humours and so vocal . He had accepted that he the great ASR had to listen to his wife. But his di was not in a mood to leave him and said "The great ASR, who does not listen to anyone ,loves his wife chattering". Arnav knew it was waste to say anything , he di was not going to stop , his confession last night had made her too excited. He got up and said " di, even nobody dares to do leg pulling of ASR like you are doing, So I better leave" he was leaving to the study happy and content when he stopped and said " but di, anyways if pulling my leg makes you happy ,I love it and you can continue with that provided you catch hold of me." NK was about to tease him when arnav glared at him and said " you are not di..., so don't you dare" he left and everyone laughed at NK.

Chapter 7

Arnav sat in the study and a chain of moments he had spend with khushi crossed his mind. He realised that even a single day without her would be difficult. So to divert his mind and aching heart he decided to head to his office.

Khushi was thankful that buajii had called her, and she had decided to use this opportunity because though she had made her decision to leave arnav at end of contract marriage but she loves him and she knew it will break her completely to leave him also his confession and vunerablility made it even more difficult but to save him from more pain she had to leave him.Khushi knew arnav would never allow her to leave him and after what he had confessed to her yesterday, she knew that everything bad or hurtful he ever said or did was never from his heart and it had hurt him more than her. She thanked devi maiya for the chance. When khushi was leaving Shantivan she knew she was leaving her soul behind and what was left was just a lifeless body.She could not control her tears on crossing the threshold and her feelings escaped from her mouth "may be this would be last time that I shall ever see this house,My home ". Little did she knew that her devi maiya had different plans for her.

By the time she reached lakshmi nagar ,she was a total mess and was thankful that soon buajii left for the temple after greeting her. She went inside her room and cried till she had no more strength left. She after some time wiped her tears ,gathered herself and said "Khushi you cannot break like this, and you have so many responsibilities, so many lives depend on you, your absence should not affect them, you have to make arrangement. She washed her face and on return of her buajii discussed with her about the help she required. Buajii was facing some problem with her pension , so she asked khushi for help. Khushi told her not to worry as she will look after it. She collected her diary(the same which arnav read) , two big gift parcels and some more documents and headed out with her motive.

Khushi had just 7 more days left in the contract marriage, she wished time to stop, but she realised it never stopped, and not only that she had otherwise too very less time. She went straight to the nearest Allahabad bank branch and requested to break and Fixed deposit in name of her which had matured some three months back. This fixed deposit was made by khushi's real parents for her marriage, but know khushi had convinced herself that though she had a contract marriage, but for her it was a life long commitment. Even if arnav would have left her at end of six months, she would never marry again because she was married to him and shall always remain his, whether he wanted her or not. She was faithful. So this money could never be used for her marriage so it was better to use this money for her family and know she needed to do that desperately. Once the fixed deposit was broken she got an amount of 12 lakhs. Immediately she transferred an amount of Rs.5 lakh and 70 thousand into arnav's personnel account not because she wanted to prove a point but because it was the right thing to do and she was never the one to take undue advantage of those who loved her. Then she transferred another 1 lakh 30 thousand into KKGSR dabba service account. The rest of 5 lakhs she deposited 4 lakhs into buaji's account and the remaining 1 lakh she kept safetly into her bag.Then from her personnel account she withdrew another 10 thousand rupees and left the bank. She headed to her next destination the notary( legal office) where on a 5000 ruppees stamp paper she transferred her registered KKGSR dabba service company on her jeeji's name. Satisfied with her work. Her next destination was an international courier company where she handed over the to gift parcels she had bought for her siblings poorvi and poorav for their graduation night. She had brought a wonderful expensive designer saree from an exclusive AR boutique for poorvi and Armani suit for poorav. She had sold one of her jewellery set to buy this for them, because she knew they loved and valued anything that she gave them, may be this time it was a big day for them, so they needed to look good and lastly this could her last gift to them. So it had to be special. After paying the charges for courier when she was heading home in the rikshaw, she remembered how both her siblings had been asking her to come along with arnav and attend their graduation night because it was her who had made them what they were today, she refused them because that was just 5 days after end of her six months contract, but they were not listening to her, but after explaining them a bit that it would be difficult they agreed but were disappointed. So she thought may be this surprise dresses from her side would cheer them and she hoped that they would find it suitable to wear on their graduation night and not feel embarrassed. But she forgot that she was the one who had raised them and instilled values in them and they both were so proud of their jiji and were never embarrassed of her. She was their mother their source or root and they were not the one's who were ashamed of their traditional roots.

Then she went to pensition office and her problem was solved in an hour with some documentation and clarification from her side. And the pension was resumed back.

Its was late after lunch time when she returned and buajii gave her lunch. She then asked buajii if she could stay here for a few days and told her how shyam was exposed and anajali ji was bit upset. Buajii was worried for her but she assured her that no one was angry with her and everything is fine and Anjali di just needed some time to get normal with her. Later she handed buajii the one lakh rupees she had brought and told her that some of her Fixed deposit had matured and since she is now well off she doesnot require this. Buajii was still not taking the money when khushi told her " its ok buajii, its just that babuji does not keep well, there is no source of income except her pension, so it is handy to keep some cash .it comes handy in times of need and unexpected circumstances. I don't want you and amma to get troubled for money. Its always better to have some in access ." buajii knew she was right. Then she also told her about the small amount she deposited in her account staying the same reason. Buajii could not control herself and cried a little.

Later at 7 in the evening when Arnav was heading for home aman came to inform aranv about some deal payments and then casually told him about some 5 lakh and 70 thousand which were transferred to arnav's personnel account today afternoon .The amount was quickly identified by Arnav and he got angry , his temper rose but then he realised it had always been his mistake, so he had to deal with khushi with love and win over her love and trust back with love and passion, but there was some serious talk with her pending for tonight and it would not wait because khushi was at Lakshmi nagar, he had decided he had already wasted an year fighting with her when all his heart from the first meeting at sheesh mahel desired was to surrender in her love and make her his forever and he did not want to waste another second . he instructed aman to get the entire details of the transaction along with details and status of person, but the information should be confidential and sent to him only, even aman was not supposed to see it.

Arnav sat in his chair thinking that this whole drama of contract marriage for six month needed a closure today itself and knowing his khushi, he knew she would always want it to remain it between the two of them, and he was ok with everything that pleased her. He knew like khushi that the truth will hurt everyone and more than that khushi disliked arnav being exposed . She had refuted shyam on the day of confrontations when shyam told that arnav married khushi out of blackmail. She in front of entire family had declared that her and arnav's was a mutual marriage out of love and no one could separate her from arnav. Her voice contained confidence and was clear and loud. It was a clear message to both shyam and him that the matter was strictly between her and arnav and nobody is required to know about it. And he had decided to keep it between them that day only because she did not know , but he knew that the whole six month contract was just a lie he had told her to hurt her and in reality no such contract had been made by him. There was more confessions that needed to be made to his wife at they would be made today. Today khushi will be exposed to his love , she had seen his hatred but she had forgotten that love is the parent of hatred and it was much greater. Today his confessions for which she had always waited will overwhelm her.

In thirty minutes aman was back with sealed envelop containing the details. Aranv left the office sat in his car, opened the envelop and read all the details. It held every single detail about khushi's todays transactions at the bank.

At the same time at Lakshmi nagar ,Payal came to see buajii and was happy that khushi could get her pension through. That when khushi gave payal the papers of KKGSR dabba service transferred on her name before payal could refuse khushi told her " jiji I always wanted to gift you something on your wedding, but at that time I was short of finances, so I decided to give you this on your six months wedding anniversary . its just that you have always been a homemaker and I wish you never have to see some financial crises, but its essential that you become financially independent and this company will give you that security just like it gave me. So please don't refuse it because I have given you no choice you have to accept it. " Payal was touched by her concern and hugged and thanked her for such a thoughtful gift. When khushi left to make tea Buajii to could not stop herself and said to payal " I don't know when but this khushi became so big, we never realised that she burdened herself so much with responsibilities that she grew older than her age. She matured so early when it was time for her to be childish and dream for herself". All this was heard and seen by Arnav, though others coul not but he understood all her intentions well and he silently promised buajii " don't worry buajii, I will take away all her burdens and responsibilities and she would again re live her child hood in my house and will agin dream within confines of my arms and I will try to full fill each of her dream". Arnav came to talk to khushi but seeing all this he thought its better to leave now and go abck to shantivan, have dinner with di and then he can secretly tell di and come and meet and woo his wife. It sounded perfect as both di and khushi needed him, he hoped from tomorrow both di and khushi would be together.

Unkown to him there lay a long and painful night ahead ,which shall test his love and priorities towards di and khushi.

i know you are waiting for an update. but the next update shall be on Wednesday ie 11th december 2013. sorry for delay but my masters exams are up and I am busy.

I will try to update before that if possible but cannot promise.
