Part 50

The next day started with a small argument between the Raizada couple.

Arnav: But khushi-

Khushi: Arnavji! I said no means NO

Arnav: but it's just a matter of 3 hours. I-

Khushi: oh I could care LESS..

Arnav: but this is important Khushi. I promise it won't take longer than 3 hours.

Khushi: Arnavji, I said you're NOT going to office. Period! I don't want to hear anything regariding this!

Arnav let out a sigh and sat on the bed. After some time he got up and wrapped his arms around khushi's wasit from behind who was taking out some cloth from the cupboard.. there's no harm in trying after all, right?

Khushi: you know it's not going to work.

Arnav: the meeting is just for 2 hours. I'll be back in 2.5 hours promise!

A raged khushi shrugged his hands off. She was already tensed about the things occurring for the last 2 days. And now he is insisting like a child to let him go to office! Can't he understand that he's not capable of doing anything in this state? More than what feared khushi is that his life is in dangers! And she can't even tell him despite of knowing everything. never in her life has she felt so helpless.

Khushi: Arnav do what you would have done if I was sick. That's all I would say for now.

Arnav stared at her for sometime. Something about her bothered him. something is definitely bothering her. he could see it in her eyes. Is it just his health or something else?

Brushing it off, he took out his cell phone from his pocket.

Aman: yes ASR, you coming?

Arnav: I don't think so. Someone's stubbornness and emotional blackmails have stopped me from stepping out of the house.

He eyed khushi who glared at him and went back to what she was doing making him smile at the anger his little wife possessed.

Aman chuckled on the phone: Hats off to khushi bhabi. Someone has finally proved that there's no such word as impossible

Arnav in a serious tone: shut up aman!

Aman immediately held back his almost slipped- laughter' and gulped fixing his specs.

Arnav: just postpone it to tomorrow.

Khushi: TOMORRROW? I'm not letting your feet out of RM for the next 3 days Raizada!

Arnav: what the?! ok Aman, postpone it to Friday.

This time Aman couldn't hold back and burst into laughter enough for arnav to be annoyed. He absolutely loved the care and concerns khushi had towards arnav. the great ASR who didn't even bother to listen to anyone has now become a child restricted to play cricket by his mother. Only khushi bhabi can do it- Aman thought.

Arnav: not funny!

Aman covering his mouth: sorry ASR. errm... so postponing it to Friday then?

Arnav: hm..

It was night... khushi knew he would be calling any time. They already had their dinner and no heading towards their room when her phone rang. She stopped in her tracks. Her heart pounding. She was breathing heavily but trying to be as much normal as she could. Arnav who realized khushi is not with him stopped and turned

Arnav: khushi?

Arnav called again: khushi? your phone is ringing. Pick it up.

She was looking at the ground and she had beads of sweats on her forehead.

She didn't know what to do. Arnav was standing inches away from her. she couldn\t pic up the phone. Not could she tell him who it was.

Arnav: khushi?

Khushi pressed the red button cutting the phone call.

She was breathing heavily..

Arnav: why did you cut the call?

Khushi faking a smile: no it's just those annoying service calls. Let's go.

Arnav fowining: you sure?

Khushi nodded not meeting his eyes.

As Arnav drifted into sleep with khushi in his arms, her phone buzzed.

Unknown caller...

She slowly freed herself from Arnav's arms not waking him up and headed towards the poolside.

Her trembling finger pressed the green button to hear the voice she wished she could just run away from.

Man: hi honey!

Khushi: don't call me that! come to the point

Man: what's the hurry baby? How's your arnavji?

Khushi: why're you doing all these?

Man: revenge it is

Khushi: Revenge?

Man: mhm..

Khushi: for what?

Man: remember shruti?

Khushi's eyes rounded: shruti? Arnav's friend?

Rahul: mm hm.. the one whom you insulted in that party? Infront of everyone? I'm her cousin brother.. Rahul

Khushi: I didn't insult her. she got what she deserved. She tried to snatch MY arnavji away from me! and for your information, the confession happened in our hotel room. Just a few friends of her witnessed the scene which was necessary.

Rahul: oh don't give me that shit, beautiful! Your husband had played that video in the party insulting her infront of everyone.

Khushi: what?!

Rahul: yes! do you know how it has affected her? there were so many businessmen and her boss was in that party as well. she was kicked out of her office!

Khushi: as far as I know, she said she was looking for a job. She didn't have one.

Rahul: she bloody did! And you ruined everything, you nave woman! I don't know what you have done to her friends. They're not talking her her either.

Khushi: I...I'm sorry! I had no intention to do so. But at the end she got what she deserved. She tried to separate me from my husband!

He let out a laugh: oh she tried to come between you and arnav? you're mistaken honey. They were friends since college days and she loved him since then.

Khushi: this isn't called love. she was just... Why am I even aruguing over this!? Tell me why are you harming Arnavji! what do you want?

Rahul: I want YOU!

For a second, she thought she heard him wrong.

Khushi: pardon me?

Rahul: I want you Khushi. ... in my arms

Khushi stood frozen in the spot. What she heard was beyond bearable. I want you Khushi. only if it was a nightmare...

Khushi: you're... you...

Rahul: I saw you in some of the photos Shruti took. You're sexy!

That's it .. she couldn't bear anymore. All she wanted to do was to wake Arnav up, and tell everything to him. she couldn't even imagine another man touching her. and what he just said was...

She was about to disconnect the phonecall when he started again.

Rahul: a uh! Don't cut the call yet. If you are planning to tell your arnavji everything, then don't make that mistake dear. You'll just regret the rest of your life.

Khushi: why are you doing this!?

Rahul: Because I have never been able to tolerate that arrogant husband of yours. We had almost all the classes same. but in everything, he used to beat me. in every bloody thing, be it in the academics, sports or even in the ...His eyes were in everything I wanted to get. And he used to GET them. at any cost! Everyone used to give him more attention. and it was not because I didn't have the potential. I did. But he was a rich-ass who's father was a famous tycoon and the principal was a great friend of his father for which he used to win in every bloody thing! And now that I have known his weakness, his lovely wife, I'm gonna get the most precious thing infront of his own eyes. And he won't be able to do anything. I want to see him lose! I want to see him lose infront of my eyes. So you choose honey, is Arnav's life more important to you or your dignity? I'm sure I'm sure I'm not gonna be that bad in bed. That was it. She could bear no more. She threw her phone in the ground, covering her ears with her palms she screamed her heart out. Her knees started to weaken and she was about to fall when a strong arm caught her by her waist.

Khushi: NO! Don't you DARE TOUCH ME! don't ... take your hands off of me... you... you...

Arnav: khushi?

He eyes shot open as soon as he heard his voice.

Arnav was sleeping when she heard a noise. As he got up from the bed not finding khushi in her side, he saw khushi in the pool side. As he headed towards her, she let out a scream and arnav ran to her.

As soon as khushi saw it was Arnav, all she wanted to do was stay in his protective arms and never let go. She wanted to tell him everything.

Concern written all over his face. He immediately pulled her close to him stroking her back.

Khushi: Arnavji!

Arnav: shh... shh! What are you doing here?

Khushi was still trembling in his arms and her voice seemed to vanish.

He broke the hug only to look at her pale red face. As if someone has scared her to death.

He brushed his knuckled across her cheeks relaxing her trembling fragile body.

Arnav: what happened sweetheart? what are you doing here? And why did you scream?

Khushi seemed desperate to tell everything. she didn't know where to start. She just wanted to tell him every goddamned thing that filthy man had said to her.

Khushi: i... shr...uti... that... he... Said/... harm... He...

Khushi was out of breath due to her continuous sob and she couldn't form a sentence ... rather just didn't know where she would start.

Not understanding what she was trying to say , he just weaved his fingers through her hairpulling her closer to him.

Must be a nightmare, he thought

Arnav: shhh! It's okay. I'm here with you.

Khushi: he... That... ra... Hul... he... Take me... wanted

Arnav: okay okay. Sweetheart, just relax.

He said pecking his forhead. Picking her in his arms he laid her in her side and gave her a glass of water.

Arnav: feeling better?

She nodded as arnav made her lay down on bed.

Arnav placing his palm on her cheek: did you have a nightmare? Is something bothering you?

Khushi made another attempt to say everything but all in vein. Whenever she tried to say something, she was at loss of words.

Arnav couldn't bear anymore.

Arnav: hey! It's okay. Sleep khushi. I'm right here okay?

He was about to get up when she held her index finger.

Khushi: Arnavji!

Arnav: sleep sweetheart. I'll just turn off the light.

Khushi: can I come with you too? Pl... please?

Arnav didn't know what has scared this poor soul so much that she didn't want to let him go for a single second? The switch was just 3 feets away after all.

Arnav noded and khushi got up from the bed holding her hand close.

Turning the light off, he held her close as khushi clutched his shirt.

As khushi slept with his head crushed to his chest, Arnav got up in his elbow and brushed his fingers through her hair as she drifted off to sleep.

Is she hiding anything from him again? She is behaving so differently after his accident. He hated to see her in tears. Is there something he should know about? Is she trying to handle something big on her own? Something is wrong.. arnav could sense it. Something IS bothering her. Definitely!

Khushi: but where are we going arnavji?

Arnav: I was thinking to go to some golgappa stalls you know

Khushi's eyes were rounded: what? YOU want to have gol gappas?

He said winking.

Arnav was trying his best to divert her attention from last night after seeing her quiet all this morning.

Arnav: and may be we could watch some salman khan movie too? I can cancel the plan if you want.

For a second khushi forgot everything. it's absolutely unsusual of arnav to ask her for a SALMAN KHAN movie. She definitely didn't want to miss this opportunity.

She jumped and clapped before hugging him making arnav chuckle.

Khushi: I'll be ready in 2 minutes.

Arnav stopped the car near a gol gappa stall.

Arnav: I'll be right back. How many plates?

Khushi: errmm... I think 5 will be fine.

Arnav: oh no I don't feel like having... just order for yourself.

Khushi's eyes widened as she heard that voice.she clutched her dupatta.

Khushi: why did you call?

Rahul: oh seems like you're more interested in me than your husband's whereabouts. That's-

Khushi: WHERE'S ARNAVJI?!!!

Rahul: do you see a crowd near that building infront of you? check there. someone has met with an accident. Who knows if it is...

In no time khushi go out of the car and ran through the crowed pushing everyone aside.

His body was covered with blood, there were scratches all over his face, flesh was coming out of his skin, his eyes were damaged...
