Part 15:
I went to the address Navika was staying at. I was worried on seeing the door locked. I thought "As if the problems now haven't been enough!"
I asked the neighbor and he said she went out for lunch about two hours back. I was thinking of what to do next. If she went for lunch, it shouldn't have been anything serious. But two hours for lunch? Then again she is a workaholic. While I was going through the multiple possibilities for the locked door, I saw a car stop in front of the building. Navika got down from the car along with another guy in police uniform. Then two other guys got down the car. When I looked closely, I forgot to take a breath.
I don't know if I was shocked or excited or anything, but it was a wave of happiness followed by many waves of questions. I felt a voice whisper in my ears, as if answering my previous thought, "Answer to your problems."
Indeed, an answer to all our problems. If Sirji was alive, then he would never let anything bad befall his family. I ran towards the group around the car. By the time I reached there, they were discussing about how they can set a trap. Unsure of who was that trap for; I called out, "Sirji!"
Sirji looked at me, at first puzzled then smiled, "Beera. You are also here in Mumbai. Don't you have any job other than follow us around?" I might have felt bad if someone else said that. I would have felt bad if Addu said that. But Sirji didn't make me feel bad. He had a teasing tone when he said that. At the back of my head, a relief washed over. How I missed his teasing taunts! He had been my inspiration and role model. Seeing him before me, I couldn't control but hug him.
Navika allowed me take my time with my emotions flowing one after the other and then told me how she found out about Sirji. I didn't need to know all that. I was happy we haven't lost him. She then asked me, "Beera, what are you doing here? When did you come?"
I told her that I came so that Meghaji won't worry about her daughter being alone. I saw the smile on Sirji's face fade away and a frown appeared on his forehead on mention of Meghaji. I didn't want to disturb their moments of happiness so decided against informing them about the issues in Bhopal.
But how long can I hide them?
