Chapter 15
Recap:- Arnav takes over Rathdore designs and indirectly tells Khushi that he doesn't want her there. His hatred towards her is fueled, while Khushi's doubt about his memory loss is confirmed. She crashes into Akaash's arms, distraught at the fact that he forgot her.It is also revealed that Arnav is somehow related to Akaash's handicapped state. This chapter begins with Akaash comforting an emotionally vulnerable Khushi.
Note:- This chapter gets very slightly mature. So readers below the age of 15, please read with caution. Also it's long!!
'Di, here your tea.' Akaash Gupta announced, thumping down a large round cup on the low-rise wooden table in front of the shabby couch his sister sat on.She had a fleece blanket wrapped loosely around her thin shoulders making her look more vulnerable and delicate than usual.Khushi looked lost and morose, numb from the hours and hours of crying..she was shocked, unable to place origins and the reasons for her immense sadness. The tears stains were the only left behind reminders of her deep pain. Her face could no longer interpret her inner sadness, the fist in her heart hidden away from the eyes of her brother.Though Akaash knew, he was the one who always understood the two star-crossed lovers better than they understood themselves. As a child Akaash had always been in awe of their strange relationship, watched and observed with hawk like sight. When he was younger, God had blessed him with virtue and a sense of being able to instinctively predict the actions of others. He had expected his sister's and Arnav Singh Raizada's effortless friendship to turn into something more, something more carnal. It was as if he had been foretold about the chain of events about to take place by the master of fate itself. Then when he grew older, and more knowledgable he had understood the logistics involved that had formed the most complex bond he had ever come across in his life.Arnav and Khushi were two people who were superficially similar in their supremely gorgeous looks, and their abilities and minds complemented each other like no other but it was their hearts that were the most intertwined organs of all.Beating and longing for each other, at each second, at each twist and turn, unbearable in their separation..
'Drink it,' Akaash urged on, as he sat right down next to his sister, comfortably wrapping his right arm around Khushi's small built. He picked up the brown mug, then, with the other hand bringing the white rim of it to her pale, pressed in lips. Her mouth opened slightly, as Akaash tilted the cup to make her sip on the warm soothing tea and as she got hold of the mug herself, Akaash let go.
'Tell me what happened, Di. What did he do know?' Akaash asked, his eyes wide with concern. He had guessed what had taken place mostly, as his ability to foresee things had expected it coming from the moment Khushi had narrated the incident of the fashion show to him..but still he wanted to know what exactly Khushi had heard and what unknown events that had taken place in the seven years that Arnav had not been a part of their lives. For a moment, though, while Khushi weakly sipped on the slightly sweetened drink, she didn't answer. She simply relished in the surge warmth that flooded her as an after affect, and the calmness that followed it. She was addicted to the feeling, and Akaash knew that it was just what she needed.
'He doesn't remember anything, apparently.Nothing.I thought he was playing games, like he always does ..but the look in Shashi's eyes..I will never forget that.' Khushi answered, in a painfully strong whisper, her eyes closing tightly shut as she held back another assault of tears. Who knew, though, maybe she can forget it all too, She thought ironically..It's better not remember anything.
'Anyway, let's not talk about this. I have had enough of him to last a lifetime.Tell me, how's Payal these days?'Khushi desperately, needing a change of topic. It would be best to divert her mind from excruciating subjects relating to the only man capable of hurting her like that.
'It's wonderful. All of it.The feeling, the moment..it's as if my life just began..but I still haven't told her anything. Payal wants more Di, and I can't give her that. She wants me to meet her father, too. It's all so new to me.I don't just know what to do, I can't let go either.' Akaash, his head hung down in sheer shame.Sadly had no good news to give to his sister or his lady love. Every truth in his life was bitter. The woman he loved, deserved so much better than a handicapped man..and he wasn't even worth her trust.Specially when he was too much of a coward, like his sister, to tell her about his life.Nevertheless,Akaash had given up, he didn't care anymore. What's going to happen, is going to happen and he would face it head on.Payal was going to find out everything one day but for now he would bask under the glow of happiness surrounding him.He would treasure those few intimate moments in his life forever. He could die a sinner for all he cared, he had been a saint for too long.
'You should tell her. You'll be fine and she would understand. She will, she loves you doesn't she?' Khushi asked strongly, trying to be positive even though the odds were against her.Her shackles were quick to rise whenever her brother was in pain, such was her protectiveness.
'She will, lets see.' Akaash answered placatingly, indulging his distraught sister. However, he himself wasn't so naive.' Anyway, I've got great news. Payal's dad is working as a construction manager at this hotel being built in Lucknow. Have you seen Sheesh Mahal? It's transforming into one.Rumour has it, that it would be the next main attraction in the upcoming year. Payal told me to submit some of my paintings as a contender for aesthetic purposes. It would be great publicity, but I don't think I will get selected. There will be many more famous artist's vying for the spot..but it can't hurt to try, right Di?'
'That's great, your work is marvelous.I will be surprised if you don't get it.' Khushi replied, as the ever loving and indulging sister. She would pray for him, even those she had lost faith in a higher power for herself long ago.
'I am glad that someone in our family has talent.. and it isn't you.' Akaash teased lightly to brighten the mood.
'Well, you might be more creative but I am infinitely smarter.' Khushi jibed back.
'That's debatable.'Akaash quipped and a sharp look from his sister had him singing another tune.' I am kidding..you're the strongest bravest sister one could have had.I love you, and your life is almost perfect.Think about it, you've got a stable job and a brilliant brother ..though the only thing missing is a life partner. Hey , who know's now that he doesn't remember you could give it another try.'
Camouflaged as an insensitive joke, Akaash Gupta was anxious as to how exactly his well meaning words would be receive. If un-welcomed, he could laugh it off and if not then none could be happier than him.Although, his sister knew him through and through. She knew what he was trying to do, and usually she would tolerate his attempts at matchmaking..but in the present she had no patience for it.
'I don't get it.Any of it.'Khushi began hotly, her cheeks a fierce red,' Do you realize how sick of you it is to even suggest that?He hated you, he has hurt you countless times. Why are you so hell-bent on seeing us together? Tell me what is it that you think will happen if he comes back into out lives. He will cause nothing but chaos.'
'You and him were never about me. I would hate to come between you two.If you don't want to be with him for my sake, then please forget about it.I don't care about what he did, I care about you.He made you happy Di, I could tell and I want that again.' Akaash explained calmly, being completely sincere and open.He had come to realize that nothing would move on if he held things back, keeping them tightly leashed within himself.
'Oh really, are you thinking clearly Akaash?Go back to all that we have tolerated, everything we have suffered under his tyranny. How can you take everything he has done so lightly? He's completely insane. It's a matter of life and death, and he had always toyed with yours.Think about all his sins, every evil deed of his to hurt you and give me an answer.'
Upon Khushi's sensible request, Akaash and her both went down the memory lane and recalled every major action and aspect of their complicated relationship with Arnav Singh Raizada.
Born on the same day ,on the same very date, Akaash was younger to the infamous Raizada by a measly two years. It was a paradox, and a dark twist of fate that both those men played the reigning roles in Khushi Kumari Gupta's life.Competing for her time, her love a more important place in her life, they had always been at loggerheads. While one enraptured her with his great empathy and virtue , the other famously manipulated her heart, controlling her every move emotionally and physically.Arnav Singh Raizada was known for his immensely jealous nature, particularly regarding a brown-eyed beauty. His possessiveness, didn't let him good-naturedly share her rather it shied her away from every single being except himself.Akaash Gupta was the victim of Arnav's intense hatred, born out of pure unaltered jealousy.Arnav had no one else in his life, so why did Khushi? His envy had been unbearable, a steel cage throughout her life.Something that she unwillingly endured, yet tried her best to spread her wings.Usually she bore his greediness, walking on eggshells but breaking those delicate pieces from time to time.. and then she had to face the consequences.Once such incidence of her rebellion had been when she had kissed Vivek Rathdore. She knew how deadly her actions could turn out to be but carried on in a bid to protect her fragile heart..but she hadn't dared to defy Arnav Singh Raizada's claim another time. Specially when she saw the chain of ominous events that occurred like the domino effect taking place. Everything was sequential and well-connected..
It all started when Arnav Singh Raizada realized that most of his life problems were all related to Khushi Kumari Gupta in one way or another.During his adolescence the main thing that irritated and frustrated him to no end was Khushi's flighty, jumpy responses to his advances. He wanted something more than simply their good friendship, yet she was always quick to run away from him in any manner possible. He didn't know what to do, or how to deal with it.He could conjure up no scheme, no manipulation tactics when it came to her.It was as if his limitless imagination had been captured and caged and there was no escape..but then he had found a way.All credited to his sharp, alert ears which aided him greatly in his communication skills.
Arnav was standing outside a classroom waiting for Khushi to come out so that he could walk her to the lunch room with himself. He was waiting patiently outside the door, his one knee bended enough for him to put his shoe-clad feet flat up against the wall comfortably. He tapped his other foot, humming on the ground in a rhythm as he rolled up his shirt's sleeves to check the time on his watch. There was barely a minute left for the bell to ring, and Khushi to come out when two young boys past by talking casually but loud enough for the Raizada to over hear.
'Dude, your girlfriend literally does whatever you ask her to do.It's like she's wrapped around your little finger, what's your secret?' One bespectacled boy asked teasingly. There was appraisal as well as interest in his tone,as he walked clumsily with his lanky frame.
'What can I say, she likes the way I look.In bed, if you know what I mean.' An assured, well-built looking boy answered back arrogantly with a sly smirk. He was completely unaware of the pair of curious eyes boring into his form in an analytical probing search. There was curiousity burning in those gorgeous orbs.It seemed as if the unaware teen had given Arnav Singh Raizada the exact solution he needed, as he walked of with his companion who hung on his every word like a desperate fan.
Arnav's eyes then heated up, burning into a beautiful charcoal as numerous possible strategies flooded into the gate-way of his mind.He had struck gold on the perfect way to wrap Khushi around his finger, too.Though,he was clever enough to paint a neutral, harmless expression as Khushi caught up with him, coming out of the class-room lest she caught wind of another mischief brewing in store for her.
Then what followed was another chapter. It began with little things. A few subtle touches here and there, and with those stolen moments of locking lips. They didn't really affect Khushi much, having already experienced a few kisses from her best friend. They didn't heat her up as much as his passionate gaze, his warm hands roaming around her freely.Arnav too knew, he could feel it.That Khushi's blood was hotter than his and she craved his touch just as much if not more.He just had to shake a bit of that control she so strongly possessed, and sully her uptight facade. He knew it was all just a show, another guard in her her heavily armoured soul..and he hoped that every effort of his wasn't in vain.He needed control too.An edge over her goody two shoes brother and a dominance over her.
'Khuuushiii!' Arnav Singh Raizada called out from his room, knowing his voice would reach her room that was on the left side of the wing both their rooms were.He had decided, that since his soft blows didn't really bear any fruits it was time for something different..and as Khushi entered his room a few seconds later her jaws fell open, yet her eyes couldn't look away.
There Arnav Singh Raizada stood in all his bare-chested glory. In the light of the day, and the sun streaming in through the window his naked damp skin glowed like a wicked angel. It seemed as if Arnav had just come out of a shower with just his low slung pants on..stunning Khushi with the sensual sight of the undressed man she lusted after. She had fantasized about his sizzling torso countless times, but her repetitive conventional mind hadn't done him justice. It heated her like nothing else, and her blazing face was a testament to that. She ogled at Arnav shamelessly, unable to look away or blink for a hint of a second.Until with a satisfied upturn of his mouth, Arnav snapped his fingers bringing Khushi out of her day dreams.
'Khushi' He caressed her name in a innocently seductive whisper,'Sit. You have to help me decide which shirt to wear.'
Arnav grabbed her feverish arm's and gently led her to his bed to sit on.She didn't protest, her mind in a foggy haze due to the erotic assault of the bare sight of his muscled body.Like a rag doll she robotically sat on the soft comfortable bed, her mind conjuring up all sort of things.None of which was to help Arnav put on a shirt, shhe wanted the absolute opposite. Her eyes brightened, her pupils dilated as her mind was focused on takings things off..
'How's this?' Arnav asked as he held up a shirt, making Khushi's eyes shoot up in alarm. The Raizada then carefully controlled his eyes and not let his face interpret the sheer exhilarating surge of haughtier he felt at her speechless reaction.
'It's good.'Khushi answered shortly, not being able to comment further with her tongue in knots due to the familiar trickle of heat flowing down her core.
'Or is this one better?' Arnav asked as he leaned towards her to grab the other shirt on the bed, his slightly haired upper body a breathe away from her wet lips.He was so close with their forms touching slightly. The delicious friction was lost too soon much to Khushi's dismay as Arnav pulled himself up, holding another shirt for display.
'I think it'll look better, what do you think?'He asked his words casual, but his orbs unable to hold back the passionate wildness taking over him at the deceptively demure contact they shared.
'Yes, I think so too.' Khushi answered automatically, gulping strongly as she herself felt completely naked under his slow-burn wandering look. She was under the carefully caste spell that Arnav wanted to desperately put her under.
Thus according to the carefully set plan, and at her approval, he put on the ivory white shirt that suited him to perfection. He was amused at the disappointment reflected in Khushi's eye as he was then completely covered, save for the sliver of skin still revealed due to the unbuttoned cloth.
'Can you fasten these?'Arnav requested slyly to further toy with her.Know he knew just how it would affect her..and he was right.Khushi's hands were literally trembling, as she hesitantly got up from the bed and brought the ends of his shirt to button them up.
Her head remained down, her eyes unable to meet his as she timidly hooked one clasp and then the other in repeated successions. Her mind could only focus properly on the warm big hands that made their way to her curved waist , holding her closely, making her breathe hitch.Looking at her reddened cheek's Arnav couldn't resist bringing his face close to her in an eager kiss. His other hand warmly cupped her face as his tongue erotically licked the edge of those soft lips begging for entrance'and just when she eagerly parted her lips with a loud moan, her hands clutching desperately at his shirt, he moved away.
'Thanks, I have to go.I have a meeting with Shashi now.'Arnav fibbed, as if he hadn't just given Khushi a taste of heaven, firmly planting the strong seeds of her addiction to him.He took her hands of his shirt, buttoning up the remaining fastenings himself and cooly walked out the room, abandoning a bewildered Khushi who couldn't,for the life of her, figure out what had just happened.
It wasn't until another incident like that occurred, that Khushi began to realize what was actually happening. It was when she had reached her reserved table in her school's cafeteria and had been suddenly pulled tightly onto Arnav's lap.She was shocked to say the least, specially when she could consciously feel everyone's eyes on them and her situation.Khushi had tried to get up but a firm grip around her waist had rendered her protests useless. Her further struggles had been halted by a scary command.
'Sit still.' He said in a dangerous tone, with sharp shooting eyes that belied all arguments. Thus she had sat rigidly like the perfectly behaved model, despite the queer looks from her peers, for a quarter of an hour until..
'Why so uptight Khushi?' Arnav Singh Raizada questioned innocently his hands resting comfortably on her covered knee. Then upon her miffed silence, his heated hands began to inch up in a slow rhythm. His slow creeping up was deadly as they warmed her soft thighs little by little as Khushi froze in a stupefied muteness. Since when did he start acting like that? Though when his touch became a little too provocative, a little to inflamed she shot up in alarm with the speed and swiftness of a newly launched rocket. When she turned around after gaining a little distance from him, she stealthily observed him with a glare.
To her astonishment,he wasn't even looking at her, his eyes cast down, cooly forking the lush green salad placed in front of him as if he was preparing to eat it.Upon her insistent, consistent stare he looked up into her heated questioning gaze, having the audacity to then laugh at it.His amused chuckle was dark, as he looked away, once again resuming playing with his food..but as Khushi stomped on in fury she thought about the genuine mirth in Arnav's eyes as well as the etched out arrogance. He was playing with her,as if she were his possession and she had just figured it out.. but could she deal with it?
She found out she couldn't.Sure she tolerated it for a while, having no idea how to make him stop in any manner. A few agonizing weeks passed by like this with Arnav dicing between playing the opposing roles of hot and cold.It was all the same, one minute she was the centre of his shameless attentions, and the other second she was completely abandoned, coldly left to find her own way.It was absolutely frustrating and one incident was her last straw..
She was in the library, stretched on her tiny toes searching for a thick text-book about a course in international law. Both Arnav and her had important upcoming projects thus the long search in the endless library. She was between two long and wide shelve's when Arnav came up besides her, not really surprising her by snaking both his hands on her either hips. His lips were besides her ear, blowing his warmth breathe next to her.
'Hi.'He murmured sultrily causing Khushi's knees to weaken into a tremble..but know she knew better to fall for it. Thus when he bend his head to softly kiss her swan like neck, she pushed his body away from her's turning around to grab at Arnav's collar mutinously.Though something about the predatory look in Arnav's leer had her questioning her own bravely. He looked positively lethal at being denied but Khushi needed his games to stop.Desperately.
'Stop messing around with my head.' She said in the steadiest, sharpesy voice she could manage under his bone-chilling gaze.
'What happened Khushi, you don't like the taste of your own medicine do you?' Arnav asked coldly, yet he was terrifyingly calm.He carefully loosened Khushi's disrespectful grasp at his collar, gritting his teeth at the reminder of what had occurred between her and that vile boy,Vivek..and then Khushi understood. All his actions had been a revenge of sort. She had hurt him.Immensely, and his actions were just to make her realize just how much.A pang in her heart, bubbled her guilt at the reminder of her flaws. She hated that she had caused him pain, but what could she do? She was the most cowardly being she knew of..thus when she could only foresee another huge argument brewing she suddenly latched onto the nape of Arnav's neck bringing his lips down in another kiss.
It was a suitable distraction, too. They both were lost in their mutual passion as they felt an electric charge surge through their body.Khushi reflexively arched her body towards him as she leaned against a book-shelve.His lips moved fluidly against her slow ones, letting her close her eyes and melt into the moment.Arnav's hands grasped Khushi's own bringing them up besides either sides of her head, trapping her with his large built. His lips moved skillfully against hers, his tongue ordering access within the caverns of her mouth.
'Di are you here?' Akaash Gupta's cheerful voice echoed around the library, trying to locate his sister who he was sure was currently searching for a book in there. His booming voice, brought Khushi out of her haze of lust as she opened her eyes, realizing that Arnav's were open too.
Suddenly conscience about being in a public place Khushi tried to free her hand from his grasp , only for his grip to tighten painfully.
Her moan of protest was muffled ,as Arnav mouth caught hold of her once again.Parting her own lips to make him listen to reason, he took that as a sneaky way to put his tongue across her lower lip.His heated wet muscle roamed around her mouth ,tasting her lusciously, seducing her into submission.Khushi couldn't help but get lost into the compelling moment.
Feeling her surrender, Arnav triumphantly let go of her hands bringing them around her back to erase any distance between their bodies.Khushi was completely unaware as her arms wrapped around his neck trying to deepen the carnal kiss.It resulted in a complete shut-down of her senses and Arnav Singh Raizada was more than happy to accommodate.
'Di?' Akaash echoed out once again. Now he sounded much closer, as if he was simply just a few shelves away.Arnav heard him completely annoyed and frustrated at the intrusion..he always had to come between him and Khushi didn't he? Nevertheless, all his anger evaporated the second he noticed that this time Khushi was completely unaware of Akaash's presence. Her eyes were still closed as she still responded heatedly to his invasion.Smirking, Arnav knew exactly what he had to do for Khushi's full and undivided attention.
He then continued devouring her mouth ,clamping his hands to her waist, hitching her legs around his hip.Intoxicated by the kiss, further loosing herself in it herself she wasn't aware of Akaash Gupta standing at a distance staring at the two teenagers in absolute shock..and just the way he came in Akaash fled the scene revolted at the sight of his sister like that.If only he could burn his eyes.Arnav would do so gladly, Akaash thought morbidly..speaking of which..
Akaash Gupta was completely aware of the Raizada's intense loathing of him.A fool would even be able to decipher that.. but Akaash had been even thicker than that previously. As a young child, he had looked up to the dashing, sophisticated older boy who carried around cool gadget's and was best friends with his doting sister. He had looked on as a naive youngster as both his Di and Arnav hung out together literally doing everything together.Akaash had always tagged around cutely smiling about with his sister, bearing Arnav's subtle snubs and insults innocently unaware of his true intention. He thought his casual brush off's and his annoyed silence around him, was just a part of who the Raizada really was. Reserved and caustic.Only Khushi had realized as the astute child she was that, sadly, Arnav Singh Raizada had an actual distaste of her dear brother.Earlier on she couldn't figure out the reason for it but as she got used to living under the suffocating shadow of Arnav's possessiveness she began to realize why.Arnav was mighty jealous of Akaash.Of his cheerful, happy-go-lucky nature and his easy yet strong bond with her.Unlike Akaash, Arnav had to work to build up his relationship with Khushi and even then his link with her wasn't easy going from anywhere. Moreover, Akaash took up a lot of Khushi's attention away from him..but Akaash blindly as well as stubbornly tried to force his company on Arnav until one day the reality struck him stunned.
In the expansive lounge of his own personal wing Arnav Singh Raizada was seated in the airy and light room with his best friend Khushi Kumari Gupta. He was simply conversing away, content with just being in her presence when a thorn in his side appeared.
'Dii!I made something new, want to see?' Akaash Gupta asked, his inner liveliness on display as a vulnerable, unguarded youth in front of his Di.
'Show me.'Khushi answered back dotingly, as usual due to the fondness she had for her only sibling. She had turned away from Arnav, was happily oblivious to the slight tightening of the jaw of her friend sitting beside her.Arnav's lips remained pursed in a resentful pout.
Then upon her welcome,Akaash excitedly flourished a frame from his hands that were held back his behind. It turned out to be another painting.A powerful sketch made out of pure pencil.Black and white it was of a man, thumping his head against a strong tree bark.It wasn't the beauty of the painting itself that was stunning, rather it was the powerful emotions that were behind the idea that swept one of it's feet. The man was dark in his representing, and his pain a thousand times worse than his own blackness. These day's it wasn't unusual for Akaash to come up with strange drawings, considering the fact that it was a new found passion.Yet his joy was everything that went against the Raizada's wish..
'See, di. I told you my pencil sketch would improve in no time.'Akaash beamed proudly, happy at being so good at something he liked.
'It's awesome. You should really practice a lot to get the perfect hang of it though.' Khushi offered her genuine advice. Her brother was good, but he could be excellent.
'Right.'Akaash then said mournfully, thinking his work wasn't appreciate making Khushi notice.
'Anyway, who is it for? Me..or for yourself?' Khushi inquired distractingly, meanwhile the Raizada carefully observed the exchange of words, inwardly mocking the duo bitterly.
At this question Akaash Gupta's ears turned a dark red.He was self-conscious..but then he had to give it,didn't he?
'Di..its for Arnav. I mean, I have made something or the other for everyone..so this portrait is my perception of him.'Akaash spoke hesitantly, offering the framed work to the silent man if front of him.Hidden from Khushi's gaze, Arnav raised a mean eyebrow conveying his mockery of the sweet thoughtful gesture..but Akaash Gupta misinterpreted the signs. He hoped that his gift ,would somewhat soften the cold person he lived with.
Cunningly, though, Arnav Singh Raizada accepted the painting graciously. He knew it was the best move he could make, seeing a gorgeous smile then lit up Khushi's face at his easy acceptance. He held onto the art form, and smiled tightly.
'I'll keep it safe, it's a treasure.'He said, and burned at the delighted expression on Akaash's face.
Contradictory to his bold statement, Arnav Singh Raizada had done no such thing.Akaash's glowing face fell drastically, the moment he spotted his dear hard work trashed in a garbage can.He was passing by the cleaning cart outside the Raizada's room and spotted it from afar in the trash. The frame seemed to be broken violently, and the paper it was drawn on crumpled harshly.Akaash Gupta's hopes were crushed. What was he thinking, naively believing Arnav's words and he stood their stunned, the broken glass representing his stomped on heart.
It was when Arnav Singh Raizada walked by him, noticing exactly what Akaash noticed that he stopped by with a hard hand on Akaash's shoulder.
'Now don't go crying to your Di about it..you know she gets about things like these.'Arnav explained with an emotional threat, then cooly walking into his room closing the door with a mean thud on Akaash's face.
Akaash could only nod his head in agreement, and it wasn't until years later that he summoned enough courage to resume his much loved art.
Khushi Kumari Gupta , too, wasn't completely unaware of Arnav's dislike for her brother.. but she hadn't fully grasped just how deep his animosity ran till one day..
Akaash and Arnav's birthday was both coming on the same date, as always. It was Arnav's seventeenth birthday, and Akaash's fifteenth. As she had been doing for eight years, Khushi would once again divide her time between the two most influential males in her life.It seemed fair and just but not to Arnav Singh Raizada. He didn't like the fact that once again she would just get up and leave after the lunch date they had planned. It was a special day for him, so he should be treated as such, he irrationally convinced himself.
Therefore he did something extremely out of bounds. He was a man desperate, almost possessed by the green monster let loose in side him.He had stomped of,dishearteningly listening to Khushi rambling about her plans with Akaash on his special day..he had then entered into the nearby by room of Akaash Gupta ready to do any kind of damage as possible..but then he reminded himself of Shashi's words. 'Don't ever take rash decisions.'His mentor had advised wisely. Thus Arnav paused, with another devious idea in his mind.
He knew exactly where the medicine cabinet would be.Right next mirror, he knew, he had seen Khushi extracting supplements from there countless times. Thus he marched towards it, opening the glass door and stealthily exchanging medicines from one container to the other. He was very careful in what he was doing, his vast knowledge aiding him in his scheme. He had messed just enough that when Akaash took his medicine the next day, right on schedule, he would be in for a long peaceful slumber. That's all the Raizada had intended simply but the results were much worse. He didn't know it at that time, but Khushi had come after him a while later and had noticed him uncharacteristically entering Akaash's room.
The next day after Akaash had taken his appointed pills, right on time he began to viciously throw up.Constantly, without any relief he had to be taken to the doctor immediately for some tests.Arnav didn't feel guilty in the slightest, because he hadn't intended any such thing to happen did he ? He just didn't like facing Khushi's worry, and the fact that even his lunch date with her had to be cancelled. That was nothing compared to the panic he felt when the doctors report came back, stating that Akaash had in took the wrong medicine which his body hadn't adapted to..and Khushi's suspecting orbs eying him in a piercingly suspicious way.
'You did something, didn't you?'Khushi inquired seriously back in her room with him, calmly looking into Arnav's eye.She sat on the bed neatly, pining his standing form with a solemn look. She knew his lips might spew falsehoods, but his eyes would always give him away.
Arnav's first instinct was to lie, but he knew that he won't be able to but neither could he deal with her anger and disdain for him.So his ingenious mind came up with the best and speediest remedy.
'I am sorry.' Arnav said quickly, in a mournful tone with soulful eyes kneeling down on the ground in front of the bed and softly laying his head in her lap.'I didn't mean to do that, seriously.I don't know what came over me, I didn't even know that he would react this way.'
'He's sick Arnav, what was wrong with you?' Khushi shouted at him, Arnav had crossed a limit he shouldn't have no matter how jealous he was.
'I am telling you I didn't know. Please forgive me,I though it would simply make him sleep.' Arnav explained somberly looking up deeply into Khushi's softening eyes, yet he could see the last threads of suspicions remaining.
'I won't do it again, I promise.' Arnav said with child-like innocence, his look saintly as he grabbed Khushi's hands, tilting it to bring the wrist upward..he then softly smoothed his finger over the insides of her wrist and it would have been a simple touch if not for the hooded, sultry look in Arnav's eyes.He was so beautiful, his thick lashes seductively framing his hot eyes.
'You forgive me,don't you?'Arnav asked once last time, and then the hypnotized fire in Khushi's eyes confirmed her forgiveness. She had fallen for his tricks once, and continued to do so until one day she couldn't deal with the enormity of what he did..
In a duration of a month, while the renovations around Rathdore Designs were taking place for it's handover, Khushi Kumari Gupta searched for another job.Arnav had made it clear that he didn't want her to work for him in his newly bought fashion company..even though ,as she had discovered later, he had given her a brochure about a month long secretarial course she could attend. At first she took it as an insult, and refused to even think about it.She silently fumed whenever she watched Arnav come to Rathdore Designs for several transfer formalities, while he completely ignored her presence except for those uncontrollable irresistible looks he couldn't help give her.Khushi, was thoroughly confused. He didn't remember anything, so why did he act like he had some personal vendetta against her?The only answer she could come up with was that the mind could forget, but the heart found it hard to let go.She experienced it every day herself.
Khushi also had some difficulty regarding finding another suitable work. She had found some vacancies, but they either weren't dignified enough or payed far too less than what she needed with a brother to support. Then there were those opportunities, in which she would have to helplessly endure leering bosses and colleagues or where she wasn't qualified enough to bag the deal. Therefore she had half-heartedly set aside her pride and decided to attend several weeks of sessions to at least have an official qualification. She put her education as a Law student on hold, for that.It killed her to think that as a young girl, she had high aspirations from her life.. but on the bright side something was better than nothing. After armed with something to boast of on her resume, besides her experience, she gave some well-performed interviews. She liked several of the companies she could work with, and also got a confirmation call from a few.Though she had decided to choose the one with the highest pay, as well as the added benefits that were included as part of her reward. There was only one down side to the opportunity,it had longer and stranger hours than usual.. but she figured she could deal with it's flaws.
Arnav Singh Raizada comfortably sat back in his office at Sheesh Mahal, looking through the magical city of lucknow through his floor to ceiling window. Finally the painful yearning had subsided. He couldn't explain it, but he could feel it from within his very depth that she would come to him.On her own, without any involvement from his side.He had faith in his instinct, it had supported him time and time again and his successful career was all credited to it.Therefore he sat back in leisure, just waiting for her to walk towards him..while he simply enjoyed the anticipation. For now, he would just like to be in her presence, he would met out her penance later when he made up his mind on what exactly he wanted.
Entering the infamous Sheesh Mahal, Khushi Kumari Gupta was awe-struck by it's lavishness. The building was vast, tall and wide, based on a pristine marble constructed by smooth clear cut glass everywhere. The sheer luxury it represented astounded Khushi as she felt minuscule around it's enormity. It was an odd time in the evening, when all the workers laboring away to transform a palace into a hotel had gone home making the undone work in it's making eerily beautiful during the foggy late afternoon. It was windy inside as the numerous large windows of the opulent palace were wide-open,and Khushi's light yellow kameez breezed around her in a wavy dance as she glided up the long mahogany stair-case toward's her new boss's cabin. The silent atmosphere in the large area had a calming peaceful affect on her,as the intoxicating smell of new polish and old wood permeated her senses.A thrill shot up her spine as she could feel the beginnings of something exciting yet terrible.
Khushi then reached the second floor, of which she had been informed was where the boss's cabin was over the phone.Upon knocking on the door many times and not receiving an answer, she slightly opened the door to take in a quick peep. She could tell no one was in the room, and she needed a place to wait in thus she entered the cabin without any one's approval.
As Khushi walked into the cabin she observed her surroundings. The office was of a soft caramel brown and white theme radiating a subtly tasteful look.It looked serene as ever even when the wide hard wood desk seemed to carry the weight of endless files and documents.Although while there was no one in the appealing room she could still feel the aura of it's owner. There was a smartly tailored coat hung about a lush looking swiveling chair and years of working in the fashion industry told her it was made from the smoothest of silk.Though her first look at it had nothing to do with her job or the industry she worked it.She remembered the first time she saw a boy wearing something very similar.. at a party, looking dapper as ever, standing near the bottom of a stair-case ,his expression matching her own breathlessness.
Khushi was then brought out of her own musings, with the sudden noise of the door being swung open. She was caught of guard, her bodily suddenly tightening up rigidly. Her back was turned towards the door as she remained standing in someone else's cabin.Without anyone's permission and that was the problem.Intruders never made good impressions and she really needed the job to stay afloat..but there was nothing to worry about. In slow successions of languid, heavy footsteps someone walked towards her..and then in a moment two lightly haired arms came up besides her effectively caging her to the desk.It was someone male, and she with a shocking jolt she realized just who it was as his warm breathe teasingly feathered along her sensitive neck.
'You know I fantasize about you being on this very desk all the time.. you had to come here, out of all the places in Lucknow didn't you?' His words were as deviously lethal as his stance as Khushi's hand fisted over at the onslaught of emotions that only he was capable of inflaming.
To be continued..
