Part 25

The health visitor welcomed them in as they both put on a brave face. She started by carrying out the standard tests, weighing Maanvi, checking the size of her belly.

"Does daddy have any questions?" Virat looked up in surprise as the health worker took down some notes before proceeding. He coughs lightly,

"Actually she's been complaining of headaches lately and I don't know if it linked." This was Virat's first visit with Maanvi and he wasn't sure what to do it what to say. She smiled at him as his concern was evident.

They finally reached their destination. Viren was in awe of the track. He wanted to get straight into the car and fly around the course, living his childhood dreams. Jeevika stepped back and watched as her husband got a crash course into his dreams.

"Can you drop me by Alex's I'm..."

"You're seeing Alex," he spoke in a sarcastic tone.

Maanvi still a tad disgust that he still had a complex about him, "I meeting Lana. His girlfriend. We were going to have lunch."

"That was amazing!" Viren rushed up to Jeevika removing his helmet before giving her an enormous kiss. "Thank you so much for this," he placed the helmet back on, he dashed back at the speed of light for the second round. As he slid back into the car, she gave a little wink.

After returning home Maanvi found a box on her doorstep. She picked up the box and let herself in,

'Maanvi, this is a blood pressure machine for you to check if you ever need to. After your check up today and what the health worker saying about headaches and the possible links to blood pressure and other things, I forgot the medical name for it. But I know it serious so just if you need it. Virat'

She started to flick through the channels deciding if there was anything good to watch. Yet, her mind was somewhere else. Everything that had been happening over the last few weeks started bubbling in her mind and a part from one small detail, everything had been going perfectly. She never would have imagined Virat to be the way he has been, and honestly she loved it.

Knock knock knock

Virat opened the door to see Maanvi standing in his porch.

"Before you speak, I want to say something. I know we were together for years and I loved you and thought I had understood you but I don't think I ever did. I mean, I finally think I have. I always loved you and that just doesn't go away. Yet, how you were in our relationship and how you are now are the same but different. I'm sorry I guess you are totally confused. I know I am.

Now I'm, I mean we, are having a child and I thought you wouldn't step up in the way you have. But today I wanted to ask you something,"

Just as Maanvi was about to ask him, a woman popped around the corner, Virat heard her footsteps and turned around.

"Maanvi sorry, this is who I wanted you to sort of meet. This is Grace." Maanvi already knew that name and her thought ended here. She left Virat's house without trying to look back. As she knew if she did, she wouldn't be able to bear it.

That night Virat tried to explain to Maanvi the situation. He used text, Whatsapped, voicemails but they were all ignored. He tried knocking on the door but there was no answer.

After his session Viren felt as if he could fly and for that reason Jeevika did not let him drive. They returned to the cottage for the final night. Viren prepared the log fire as Jeevika out together a simple but romantic dinner.

They sat in front of the fire cuddled together, enjoying the silence and each other's company. It was something that they had actually missed.

The next afternoon, Virat found himself back at Maanvi room. This time she let him in. Her eyes were still slightly red and he looked guilty.

"I know what you must thinking and feeling but it's not what you think."

"You know what Virat, I don't wanna know." He shrugged his shoulders, knowing that nothing ever changes.

"You can do what you like, we're not together. We're not anything. You don't have anything to explain to me." She started to walk around him and let him back out, "It's funny though, you get annoyed at the slight possibility of me meeting Alex."

"That's different," he whispered as she rolled her guys at his male complex,

"Really? You've moved on, with your ex I might add so what does it matter? Why don't we keep this simple Virat. Any appointments, I'll let you know." She opened the door, and stepped away,

"This is my child Maanvi you cannot cut me out."

"I'm not. I'll keep you informed and you will be there. But please we will leave it there."

"Maanvi!"

At that moment Viren and Jeevika walked into their argument. Not noticing them they carried on arguing with each other, without listening to the others views.

"Enough!" After a loud shout by Jeevika Maanvi and Virat fell to silence. She grabbed Maanvi's hand and took her away, while Viren tried to escort Virat out. He tried to explain to Viren his side hoping someone would listen. Yet, Virat failed to.
