PART IV
Both the ladies looked at each other in shock. The same question written in their eyes- Do we tell this old woman whom the IF people call Stopwa? (J/K)
-At the Hospital-
Arnav was signing discharge papers, when he saw a pale Dadi walking in. She went straight to Khushi's ward and looked at the innocent girl sleeping there. She stared at her for a few moments, and sighed. She walked to her slowly and very very hesitantly, put her hand on Khushi's forehead. She took her hand away, when Khushi moved a little in her sleep.
"A-Arnavji?" Khushi murmured in her sleep, oblivious to Dadi staring at her.
She really DOES love my grandson, Dadi thought grudgingly.
Arnav saw Dadi walking into Khushi's room, and panicked. Khushi won't be able to take it...! He rushed to the room, and was surprised at the sight that greeted him. Dadi had her hand on Khushi's forehead and looking at her...Arnav realized that her eyes no longer bore hate for Khushi. She withdrew her hand sighing. Arnav felt Nani behind him, and did not have to turn around to see her expression...
Dadi was still oblivious to their presence, and looked at the sleeping Khushi. "I am sorry Khushi bitiya...I wronged you. Your intentions were never wrong!"
Saying so, she looked up at the two pairs of incredulous eyes staring at her. "What, am I not allowed to talk to grandson's wife?" she said, stalking past them out side.
There were things she needed to set right... Dadi thought determinedly as she called up her Damaa- no, Shyam.
"Damaadji? I need to meet you...After three hours..I will tell you where later?"
That settled, she called Anjali. "Bitiya, I have to talk to you. I am coming home. And please, you have to believe me."
Arnav overheard all this. He wondered what was up... But he shook off all these thoughts... He needed to be with Khushi...
He walked to her ward, to find her staring at the ceiling, and absent-mindedly rubbing her stomach.
"Khushi?" Arnav called out to her, quietly.
She looked up and smiled. "I was just talking to my Jalebi..."
Arnav stared at her. Was his wife going crazy..."Khushi, why would you talk to a JALEBI?!" he asked incredulously.
Khushi looked at him, and laughed. "I meant our Jalebi..." she said, pointing to her stomach.
Arnav walked to Khushi smiling and sat next to her. "Is that the best name you could come up with?"
Khushi grimaced, thinking of the other names she had thought of long back...Poori and Aloo... She shuddered...This would be her personal secret. "Offo! Arnavji...My baby has to have a nickname right?"
He chuckled softly, and kissed her on the forehead.
-At RM-
"Anjali bitiya, Do you trust your Dadi?" she asked her grand daughter solemnly.
Anjali nodded, confused. "But Dadi-"
"Anjali bitiya, Damaadji is a bad man. Arnav and Khushi bitiya were right...He was engaged to her." She looked at her grand daughter all the while, hoping she was getting through to her. Just then, the doorbell rang. Both Dadi and Anjali looked up to see that everyone had returned.
"Arey Chhotey! You are letting Khushiji walk!?" Anjali exclaimed.
Arnav was annoyed. "Ask her."
"Di, I insisted on walking! He wanted to carry me infront of everybody...!" Khushi complained, as she leaned on Arnav for support. She looked at Dadi and said "Namaste" meekly.
"Namaste bitiya!" Dadi said smiling.
Khushi looked up shocked and was given a genuine smile from Dadi. Everyone was shocked.
"Come Khushiji..." Anjali said, taking Khushi upstairs.
Dadi was the only one who noticed the frown on Anjali's face. Dadi sighed...She knew Anjali had not believed her...
