Part 20

Love is not pity

"For you he is denying the memories of his mother..can't you leave the past behind? Tell me, will you be really happy if he discards these memories of his mother?"

"I said I am sorry..for how long you will nurture the grudge against me? If you can fold your hands before Shyam, who actually made your life miserable..then why can't you forgive me?"

These words came from Subhadra Malik.Khushi kept silence that time.The more she was trying to leave everything behind, the more she was trying to forget her past, the more this old lady was stopping her.Her wounds were fresh again.It was 14th February,2012.

Khushi couldn't concentrate on work, she left at 3 pm. When Payal opened the door she saw a devastated girl who wanted to say "Please..leave me alone..please let me live in peace..please don't torture me.."..she was about to fall..Payal held her tightly..she shouted.. "Daaaddiii.. Mummyjeee... come soon please..look at her..."..

Manorama was shocked, Devyani was crying..."Khushwant..Bahu..look at me..what happened ? Did Arnav say anything? Anybody else said anything? Are you in pain?Tell me..."..but she didn't respond.

Akash came to boardroom..Arnav was having an important meeting."Bhai...you must go...I guess she needs you.."

Arnav felt suffocated.."What happened? She was fine..."

"Bhai..you please go...Nani was crying..."..

After few minutes Arnav was driving his car, but he was scared to reach home, god knows what was waiting for him.He planned so many things for today, he was about to take her out, today was Valentine's Day..their first Valentine's Day.

When he reached at Randhawa Mansion, Dr. Sisodia was waiting for him.

"Mr. Randhawa..what are you doing?"

Arnav remained silent, "Mr. Randhawa, you have every right not to love her, but you have no right to make her traumatised like that, when I came here on call..her blood pressure was 70-40..you know what does that mean..she was having high fever...I had to give her injection..if you can't take care of her, then you shouldn't have made her pregnant.."..Dr. Sisodia went on.

Arnav cleared his voice and said ,"Is she alright now?"

"She is under sedation..Mr. Randhawa, be careful or be ready for the worst.."

Arnav entered in his bedroom...looked at Payal who was seated beside her."You please get freshen up..then I will talk..."..Payal said.

After 15 minutes he came out from the bathroom, when he saw Hari Prakash brought tea.

"Well.."..Payal said ," She suddenly came back by 3 pm, I opened the door..and I saw her expression.If I wouldn't have caught her..god knows what would happen..she looked miserable...then I felt she was having high fever...I had to call her Doctor."

"Trust me Payal..I did nothing.."

"I know, it's not you..."

Arnav raised his brows.." I think..it's Subhadra Dadi..."..Payal said.

"What did she say to her?"...

"She was nagging that you are going to have your first child..but you are denying your mothers blessings as you are ignoring those ornaments just because Khushi doesn't want to take them. You are in pain because she is not letting you to remember you mother..."

"She said it to her directly?"

"No..she was nagging in front of Dadima..Khushi was there by chance, she heard everything.."

"She said anything directly?"

"Yeah...it's about Shyamjee..."

"When all these happened?"

"After you left for office..it all started from Khushi's goad bharai..what ornaments are to be gifted to her..then Subhadra Dadi said all these..."

Arnav remembered that today morning he left earlier, he told the driver to take her to office safely."She was cool and calm yet, she went to office, then suddenly she came back...I thank god that she decided to come back here.."

Arnav became horrified, yeah she could go anywhere..then what would happen?"Did she eat?" Arnav asked.

" I don't know whether she ate in office or not..but she just fainted after coming home...still she is not in her full sense..few minutes ago she was saying that she doesn't love Shyam, she has no affair with him...she was repeating the line... Arnavjee..please leave me...how many times I have to tell you that I have no business with Shyam Manohar Johal..why don't you believe me...Subhadra Dadi said that if she could forgive Shyam, then why she is not accepting her ...possibly Khushi made a wrong interpretation..."..Payal said ," You please sit here..try to know what she is feeling..only you can console her..."..

"Thank you Payal..."

"Chaijee wanted to come..can she come ?"..Payal was talking about Garima..

"You need to ask?"

"It's just..after the revelation of past...Chaijee never came here..Subhadra Dadi insulted her to the core.."

It was not unknown to Arnav, somehow he also supported that by keeping silence that time.

"Chaijee calls me everyday to about her, but she doesn't come..she thinks you will not like it.."

Arnav said calmly, "She is my mother-in-law, she can come here whenever she wants...why don't you call her right now..Khushi may want to see her...call her.."

Arnav was holding her hand, "Why are you doing this to yourself? Don't you trust me yet? I told you not to get tensed..but you did exactly what I have forbidden..why? Just because someone ,who is totally insignificant in our life, said some stupid thing? Khushwant..talk to me..I know you are listening, please..don't do this...last few days..everything was alright..I wanted to surprise you...I had so many plans ..for the day...but all I am getting from you is nothing but shock."

Khushi made a movement while sleeping...Arnav touched her forehead..it was still not in normal temperature.She opened her eyes slowly, tears were coming out..."Arnavjee..."..she said ..Arnav wanted to cry, but this was not a time to cry, it's time to console her, to make her feel protected.Arnav took her in his embrace.

"I have nothing ..with your brother-in-law...",before she could complete, Arnav claimed her lips with his.He was sucking her lips along with her tears.He passed his hand under her clothes, rubbed her bosom, she moaned, her hand was caressing his neck...gradually his grip got tighter, he pinched her buds, as if he was punishing her for doing what he strictly forbid .Then he took her clothes down..all buttons were opened, took her buds in his mouth, bit them...and suddenly he heard her crying again..."Arnavjee..trust me..."...Arnav stopped himself.He buttoned her clothes..covered her bosom properly...he was leaving her..she held his wrist.."Where are you going?"..she was scared..Arnav felt miserable..he touched her head and said, " I am not going anywhere..just have some important work..I will be back soon..take rest..I am just coming..but you will not leave the bed..you will not go anywhere..and I am not requesting you...and you better take me seriously this time..."..he kissed her lips again and left.

Garima was going to Khushi's room when she was stopped by Subhadra.."What are you doing here?"

"Matajee..."

"Don't call me that..."..

"Thanks for coming Chaijee..."..Arnav said and came forward and touched her feet. "I am so very glad to see you...Chaijee..will you please go to her..I think she needs you.."..

Garima was surprised.."Are you sure?"

"Yeah..please go to her.."

Subhadra asked in a heated tone..."How dare you Arnav? The heirs of the Maliks must be kept away from that vile woman..."

"That woman is the mother of the mother of the so-called Malik heirs.."

"She is not her real mother..."

"Yeah..I know..because the heirs are not a real Malik..they are Randhawa..."

"How dare you? How can you deny your father? How can you forget him?"

Arnav was looking at her...then said ,"That is your problem ..I got it, from the beginning that was the sole problem of yours.."

Devyani came there hearing the loud voice of Arnav...Payal came from kitchen ..Manorama followed Devyani..meanwhile Akash also came.

"Yes..how can I forget my son..how can I forget my only child?"

"That is why you are making sure that my child will not take birth..right?"

"Arnav?"

"What did you think? That I will make a shrine in the name of my father? The person despised two women..you always blamed those women..but what about your son? You still cannot digest that I survived and established without the name of Malik..yeah..that is your problem..that is the reason of your rage.."

"You are blaming your father? What Shyam did? He did the same thing..still you are being friendly with him..I wanted the divorce..but I know it's your wife who convinced Anjali to reject Adhiraj...poor soul..died for that..."

Devyani was stunned .."What are you saying?"

Arnav had enough..he said in a heated tone.."Really? And how Adhiraj came to know each and every detail of my marriage? My sister's marriage? Who brought him back? Adhiraj died because of you..can you deny that?"

Akash was shocked.."What are you saying?"

"The truth...still she has not got enough..she again hurt Khushi...and let me tell you..my mother's memories are not in jewelries...she lives here...",Arnav pointed at his heart.

"Arnav..!"..Devyani said with tears in her eyes..

"Nani..how are you allowing this? Why are you letting her destroy everything ..where was she when she was needed the most? It was you ..who took care of us..you will let her ruin everything you made over the years? I made mistakes ...now I am correcting them..but why are you being silent? What is stopping you? She left home, one day she came back..and brought back the maladies of past...she is still doing the same...she is comparing Jijajee with my father? Does she really know what Shyam Manohar Johal did for this family? He made only one mistake...can't we forget that?Can't you realise that Di is finally happy? When she is on the verge of getting ultimate happiness..she is doing this..how will she feel if she comes to know about this chaos?She is still taunting Khushi about Jijajee...okay..I agree Jijajee is wrong..but why Khushi should suffer? What is her fault?"

Manorama came forward..."Bijee...we had enough..don't you think? I can't see my Arnav suffering like this...today when I saw Phati Saree..you don't know how I felt..."

"Every time Nani..Dadi created a mess..she used to instigate me..against Khushwant, and the irony is ..Khushwant used to console me..if she wasn't there..I would have turned insane..and Dadi, she forgave Jijajee only for me.. and another thing I must tell you..she has always loved nobody but me..but I am not being able to protect her...just because of you.."

"Okay..but how can you touch Garima's feet..that.."

"Not one word Dadi..I know and you know ..that who was at fault..your son is dead Dadi..let me live, let my wife live, let my children take birth without any mishap...let my sister live without any insecurity, she has suffered a lot also..let her husband make her happy for the rest of her life.."..Arnav said in an exhausted tone, " I am too tired to fight anymore..please..let me live in peace with my family.."

Manorama and Devyani was shedding silent tears, Arnav told them each and every details..Payal was crying, Akash was consoling her.."Don't worry...things will be fine..we cannot escape our destiny Payal..it was bound to happen.."..

Nobody noticed that Khushi was standing there..she insisted Garima to take her there..Arnav looked at her..her eyes were blood red..Arnav lost his temper ..."How many times I have to tell you not to cry?Who told you to come here?" ..he said angrily.."Chaijee..I told you to sit next to her, why you brought her here..?"

Subhadra came there...she was ready to leave Randhawa Mansion.."I came to say goodbye to all..I realised that there is no place for me in this house..."

Garima told in an anxious tone.."Where will you go Matajee? This is your house..Arnav..look at her age..who else she has than you?Don't do this Arnav...please.."

"I told you to take care of your daughter..you please do that..no need to get worried about her..she managed well 12 years ago..she will manage this time also.."

Devyani got panicked..."Chhotte..what are you saying? She is your grand mother..Subhadra..what are you doing? You are repeating your mistake..."

Akash yawned..and said ," I am hungry..will you serve the dinner please?..Payal..?"..

"Yeah..sure..you get freshen up..."..both of them left.

Khushwant came forward..held Arnav's hand..."Please Arnavjee..don't do this..."

"Khushwant..go to your room...Payal will send your food there..go..you don't need to be involved..I can't allow any disturbance in my house..."

"Your house? This is my house also..she will not go anywhere..."..

Arnav gave up...he cannot go against her..."Do as you wish...if this time you cry that why she told you this...she told you that..I will not listen any of your crap... got my point..?.."..Arnav left angrily.

Everyone left except Devyani and Subhadra...Devyani said ," Be with us..but don't create any further chaos..Arnav will not listen to Khushwant every time ..he will throw you out for the sake of Khushwant and his children ..you see Subhadra...everyone is not your son..my Arnav really loves his wife and his children..it was my daughter who committed suicide because of your son...so you owe me a lot..I will not let you destroy my family...Randhawa Family ,which I constructed with all my love and hard work over the decade."

"Arnavjee..I admit that she did wrong, but throwing her out is not right.I know how it feels when your family deprives you...how can I do this when I went through the same pain..?"

Arnav was dead angry, "Khushwant, I know you are a good dialogue writer, but don't apply this crap on me, I am not going to buy this..."

"How can I reduce your anger?"

"By shutting your mouth..."

"What about making love?"

Now he really had enough..he said bitterly.."Exactly what do you think of me? Am I addicted to sex? Or I am a sexual monster?Tell me...you think every time you will make me insane and then you will say , Arnavjee ..let's make love..that makes everything alright? You took unnecessary headache and got tensed, because of Dadi..you became ill..then you stopped me when she was ready to leave the house, you stopped her from going.."

"Today is Valentine's Day.."

"Toh kyaa karu..tujhe sar pe bitha loon?"

"Goad me bitha lo..toh bhi chalega..."..Khushi said smilingly..

Arnav wanted to bang his head on the wall..is she a complete gone case?

"Why are you pretending? What were you doing with me in the evening ?"

"I did nothing.."

"Really..then how the mark came?"..Khushwant said and unbuttoned her dress..showed her bosom...his teeth mark..nail mark ..his anger melt immediately."Happy Valentine's Day Sweetheart"..he said and lifted her in his arms and went towards bed.

"What exactly you are? Monster or addicted?", she taunted.."Whatever I am, I am your husband,father of your children, so you can't escape your liability to satisfy me..you have to tolerate..."..said Arnav, and claimed her with his raw male hunger..
