...Mushkil Bada Yeh PYAR Hai !
[-A Passionate Love Story]
PART 48:4/6
[E]
GUNJAN did not know what to do, how to react... she could never ever imagine herself to be in this situation and that too, with her strict boss. She looked at SAMRAT who was waiting for her to reply and as he raised his eyebrows to ask her where he could hide, she looked around, flustered. SAMRAT just stood there, enjoying GUNJAN's condition, her tension... suddenly both were startled as they heard a knock on the door. Both looked towards the shut door and then at each other. SAMRAT looked at her questioningly...
without uttering a word, by merely his expressions, he had gotten GUNJAN even more tensed. She looked around again, zeroed in on the curtains that were draping the windows and said to SAMRAT... pointing at the curtains, her tone tensed... " Aap...Aap..udhar... curtain ke peeche chhup jaaiye... Main abhi dekhti hoon. "
SAMRAT looked in the direction where she was pointing and then at GUNJAN. He smiled at her and rushed over to hide behind the curtains.
Walking towards the door, as she kept looking behind her to see if SAMRAT had hidden himself behind the curtains, GUNJAN finally reached the door. Once again, before she opened the door, she looked to check on SAMRAT and was surprised to see him peeping from behind the curtains... his smile speaking volumes of how much he was enjoying this naughtiness... she signaled him to hide and got a wink back from him. She quickly looked away and turned the knob to open the door... and she was surprised
to see BIJI standing at the door, with a red bag in her hand...looking completely harassed and sad... GUNJAN asked her... her tone filled with concern for the old woman who stood in front of her... " BIJI...Aap..?? Aap is waqt yahaan...?? Mujhe bula liya hota toh... Main aa jati naa ?"
BIJI looked at her and smiled faintly...but that smile could not hide her sadness nor her tension and her tone seconding her feelings, she said... "Wo..woh maine bachhon ko awaz toh di thi..kitna shor bhi kar rahe the lekin, pata nahin sabhi kahaan chale gaye...Koi sunn hi nahin raha toh socha khud hi tere paas aa jaati hoon.. "
GUNJAN smiled and replied... her tone the normal soft , as she opened the door a bit more... "Achha kiya... lekin Aap bahar kyun khadi hain...?? Andar aaiye naa... She moved aside to let BIJI enter... as BIJI stepped into the room, she staggered and was about to fall, when GUNJAN held her, in time, breaking her fall... concern laced generously in her voice, GUNJAN asked... . "Aaram se BIJI...Aap mera haath pakadiye..."
As she clutched GUNJAN's wrist, BIJI spoke, her tone now sounding much more normal than it had earlier... "Woh, pata nahin maine apna chashma kahaan rakh diya..tujhe toh pata hai naa...bina chashme ke main toh bilkul andhi ho jaati hoon..."
GUNJAN felt bad... she looked towards the window and saw SAMRAT peeping from behind the curtains. When he saw GUNJAN look at him, he did what she had least expected from him... he held his ears with his thumb and index finger and lip synched a 'SORRY' to her... though surprised by this, she could not hide her disappointment at the behavior of SAMRAT.
GUNJAN supported BIJI and guided her towards the bed. She gently made BIJI sit on the bed and then, sitting next to her, GUNJAN asked her... " BIJI aapne bataya nahin... koi zaroori kaam tha kya...?? Aur,Iss bag mein kya hai...? "
BIJI looked around as she heard GUNJAN ask about the bag... then she moved closer to GUNJAN and almost whispered... "Arre ! Issike liye toh aayi hoon achha hua jo yahaan koi nahin hai..tu jaldi se jaakar darwaza bandh kar le,phir aaram se batati hoon..." GUNJAN nodded and stood up. Though she was confused, she said nothing and briskly walking over to the open door of the room, she shut the door. As she turned around, she noticed SAMRAT was as yet looking from behind the curtains... she did not react and walked over to the bed, and sitting next to BIJI, she said...softly, "Ab bataiye..maine darwaza bandh kar liya hai".
BIJI looked at her lovingly as she smiled and lovingly moved her palms over GUNJAN's head. Momentarily, she seemed to forget her reason for coming to meet GUNJAN, but then, she realised what she was here for and heaving a sigh, she opened the bag and held it in front of GUNJAN...
GUNJAN looked at the contents of the bag and realised why BIJI was so sad... her voice heavy, BIJI spoke... "Dekho naa inn bachhon ne ye kya kiya... she turned the bag over to empty the contents... GUNJAN realised that she had to move a bit back, so BIJI could comfortably empty the contents... and that is just what she did, as BIJI gently emptied the contents of the bag on the bed... pieces of the broken coffee mug...
She moved her old, wrinkled fingers over the pieces, as she mumbled... Yeh unki aakhri nshani thi.. jo maine itne saaloon se sambhal kar rakhi thi..." GUNJAN was feeling very bad as she heard BIJI speak...
her choked voice clearly indicated that her eyes were brimming with tears too.... but she said nothing and let BIJI speak... Jab bhi iss mein Coffee yaa Chai peeti toh lagta tha Unke saath hi hoon...woh bhi yahin hain... Mujhe dekh rahe hain... she looked at GUNJAN as she tried to smile... then again looking at the broken mug lying on the bed, she said... Aaj ke baad toh yeh ehsaas bhi nahin rahega..." she looked helplessly at GUNJAN.... tears now falling from her eyes...
GUNJAN could do nothing but caress BIJI's hand... her eyes were stinging with the salty water too... BIJI continued, keeping her other hand on GUNJAN's hand...looking at the broken mug... "Pata hai..? Unhein coffee bahot pasand thi,jab bhi ghar par hote, har thodi-thodi der mein unhein unki special wali coffee chahiye hoti thi aur,jab main irritate hokar gussa karti toh kehte...dekh lena jab 1 din nahin rahoonga toh meri yehi coffee aur yehi coffee mug tumhein meri yaad dilayega...
A soft laugh indicated that BIJI was lost in the days gone by... she freed her hand from beneath GUNJAN's hand and picked up some pieces in her hands... drops of tears fell on those broken pieces and the old, wrinkled hands. GUNJAN gently made BIJI look at her and wiped her tears... her sweet smile playing on her lips, her voice very gentle, GUNJAN spoke... as she held BIJI's hands..." BIJI aisa nahin hai... Nanu toh hamesha aapke paas hi hain... Unhein aapke paas rehne ke liye kisi coffee mug ke bahane ki zaroorat nahin. Aap bewajh hi dil chhota kar rahi hain. "
BIJI looked at her and then at the pieces in her hands... she again looked at GUNJAN, and though not at all convinced by what she had just heard, she smiled faintly as she said... "Shayad tu sahi keh rahi hai... looking at the pieces in her hand, she said... Lekin, inn tukdoon ko iss tarah se phenk bhi toh nahin sakti...toh socha ki..."
She looked at GUNJAN and as she had expected, GUNJAN completed her sentence... "Main inhein jod doon..? "
This time, the smile on BIJI's lips was not forced... and her tone sounded hopeful, happy... she said, enthusiastically... "Arre Haan ! Ussi ke liye toh aayi thi...wo..woh tum sab koi gum use karte ho naa..jise glasses bhi jud jaate hain...? Toh,socha tumse keh kar dekhti hoon...shayad... she paused... she looked downwards and then again at GUNJAN as she continued... aur kisi ko kehti toh woh sab hanste naa...lekin,main tujhe jaanti hoon... she stopped... but then, again she spoke, trying to justify her wish...Kya hua jo daily ab iss mein coffee nahin pee paaoongi, kam se kam apne show case mein toh rakh kar daily dekh toh sakti hoon naa... " again, she moved her hands over the pieces, as her voice sounded sad...
GUNJAN quickly wiped her eyes and smiled
as she spoke... cheerfully... "Aapne bilkul sahi kiya... Main abhi isse jod deti hoon... tab tak aap apne room mein jaakar aaram kijiye..Main abhi isse jod kar aapke room mein pahuncha deti hoon..."
BIJI tried to stand up to leave... but the old bones could not give her the support. GUNJAN quickly stood up and helped BIJI stand up. BIJI gratefully accepted the help and as she stood up, lovingly patted GUNJAN on her shoulder. She started to walk slowly towards the door when suddenly, she turned around to look at GUNJAN. Just in the nick of time, SAMRAT hid behind the curtain.
BIJI came closer to GUNJAN and, keeping her hand on GUNJAN's shoulder, in anger, she said... "Aur dekh Main tujh se phir kahe deti hoon..Uss ladke...kya naam hai uska...?? She shook her head as she turned around to walk towards the door, followed by GUNJAN... Kuchh bhi naam ho... Arre wohi woh tera khadoos Boss ! Haan toh main keh rahi thi ki,tu uss se door hi raha karMujhe toh woh nakchadha bilkul achha nahin lagta... pata nahin tu din bhar aise aadmi ke saath kaise 1 hi office mein kaam karti hai??
Scared as she heard BIJI speak, GUNJAN looked towards the curtains...
she gupled... SAMRAT was looking at her, the naughtiness in his eyes and the smile on his lips gone... he was glaring at her... she looked ahead, walking withBIJI... BIJI continued with her non-stop rant... " Naa toh baat karne ki tameez hai aur na hi badoon ki izzat... dekha nahin uss raat kaise badtamizi se baat kar raha tha..?? Main toh kehti hoon ki,agar tujhe naukri hi karni hai toh kya kisi aur jagah nahin kar sakti? Jahaan ka Boss thoda senior aur samjhdaar ho?? Kya saare Mumbai mein tujhe sirf issi ka office mila tha kaam karne ko??
GUNJAN was petrified, as she slowly looked behind her back... SAMRAT was angry
and his bloodshot eyes told her that... she held BIJI by her arm and said... " Aap..aap chaliye na Biji...main...Main dhyaan rakhoongi... Lekin, abhi chaliye main aapko aapke room tak chhod aati hoon... Uske baad aaram se inn pieces ko jodne ki koshish karoongi... "
GUNJAN heaved a sigh aof relief as she reached the door and quickly walked out with BIJI. Reaching BIJI's room and helping her settle down in her favorite rocking chair in her room, GUNJAN came back to her room...
As she hurriedly reached her room and entered it, she quickly shut the door behind her. She knew, a volcano was waiting to erupt... and that is just what happened. Barely had she turned around to face him, SAMRAT said... his tone indicating his anger... . "Oh ! Toh aa gayi tum...?? Kya naam hai unka...Wohi old lady jo...
Gathering the courage she would need to reply back and also try and calm him down, GUNJAN interrupted him.... " BIJI ! Woh meri BIJI hain... aur aap iss tarah se..."
SAMRAT took a step towards her, angrily... she, on reflex, moved a step back...

SAMRAT said... " WoW ! What partiality... Main unhein Old lady nahin bula sakta aur woh mujhe itna kuchh keh sakti hain... kya kaha tha unhone mujhe ?? "Nakchadha'..'Khadoos'...'Badtameez'... aur bhi na jaane kya kya...tab toh tumne unhein nahin roka..?? "
GUNJAN once again interrupted him... as she turned to look away... " Haan ! Kyunki, aapne unki sabse pyaari cup tod di... Woh cup Nanu ki aakhri nishani thi unke paas...aapne dekha nahin...woh kitni... recollecting BIJI's plight made GUNJAN take a pause... but she quickly composed herself as she turned to look at SAMRAT and continued, her tone slightly raised, sounding very upset
... aur toh aur,Unki chhadi bhi tod di aur unke specs bhi pata nahin... "
Her slightly raised tone surprised SAMRAT. Normally he would have lashed back at her and asked her to mind her tone when she spoke to him, but lately, reprimanding GUNJAN was not that easy anymore... he moved his gaze away and said... innocence in his tone... " What... Mujhe... Mujhe nahin pata ki,tum ye sab kya keh rahi ho... Main... Maine koi cup-wup nahin todi... Main toh... Main toh... sirf unn bachhon ke saath... Ye..Yeh sab Tumse...tumse kisne kaha ki maine cup todi hai...?? "
Her hands folded as she looked at SAMRAT, she said... " Kisi ne nahin! lekin, main jaanti hoon ye shararat aapne hi ki hai... Main AASHU,BITTU aur sabhi bachoon ko acche se jaanti hoon... Unhone woh cup nahin todi hai ye sab aapne hi... "
Not willing to take all the blame on himself, SAMRAT looked at her and, moving closer to her, said... " Oh Hello !! Mujhe koi sapna nahin aaya tha ki,woh Ball direct jaakar tumhari BIJI ke favorite cup par hi giregi... Hota hai... khelte hue yeh cheezein ho jaati hain... isse itna bada issue kya banana... aur phir tumhaari uss 'Chillar Party' ko lag raha tha ki,Woh unki uss chhadi se unn sab ko punish karengi toh maine sirf unki help karne ke liye woh stick tod di aur woh specs toh lo ye rahe woh specks... taking the specs out of his pocket, he held them in front of GUNJAN, who was shocked to see SAMRAT have them . When she did not take the specs, he kept them on the table and continued... Yeh wahin corridor wale table par hi rakha tha, kisi locker mein jaakar nahin rakha tha jo..."
GUNJAN had had enough, just enough of all the drama and she just wanted all this to end now. She shook her head in disbelief and opened the drawer of the table, searching for something... SAMRAT wondered what she was searching for... ignoring him... he waited for sometime and then, he asked her, his voice loud...
" Ab wahaan kya dhondh rahi ho...?? " GUNJAN stopped searching and looked at him... in a completely cold tone, she replied... "Fevi-Quick" Kyunki, aapne khel-khel mein jo shot lagaye hain naa , Usse BIJI kaafi hurt hui hain. "
Unbelievable... that was the look on SAMRAT's face as he laughed and said... " God !! What stupidity... ! 1 Cup hi toh hai... Unse kaho ki,main isse kahin costly aur unbreakable cup unhein la doonga...toh please,ye emotional drama bandh karein... "
Though this is what she had expected from him, GUNJAN was very disappointed when she heard it... she said nothing and continued searching.
GUNJAN said nothing and continued searching...SAMRAT was getting irritated by now. He stood in front of her, stalling her efforts and asked her... " Ab kya dhoondh rahi ho...?? Kaha toh unse jaakar kaho ki, main kal hi koi costly si..."
GUNJAN looked at him, there was hurt in her eyes and her tone, as she replied...
" Yaadoon ki koi keemat nahin hoti... aur naa hi unn emotions ki jo unn cheezon se judi hoti hai jo unn apnon ko yaad dilati hain jinhein hum kho chuke hote hain... lekin,Aap yeh saari baatein nahin samjhnge... Kyunki, apnon ko khone ka dard kya hota hai...? Yeh aap kabhi nahin samjh sakte..." She was looking at him, disappointed... he looked away... she expected this reaction from him. She shook her head as she started searching again...
SAMRAT, on the other hand, looked disturbed when he heard GUNJAN utter the last line... He could not understand the pain of losing someone?? He had lost that one person whom he loved the most... his mom... even today, he wants to feel the warmth of her love, even today he wants to rest his head on her lap after a hard day at work... what he would not give to get that one moment when she would feed him the food cooked by her...he wants her to be there for him... but all this will never happen. Oh, he knows very well what it is to lose the one person closest to your heart. he walked over to the table and picked up the fevi quick tube lying in the drawer... he had seen it when GUNJAN was searching for it, GUNJAN in her hurry, did not. He wiped his moist eyes and walked over to GUNJAN, and handing over the tube to her, he said... ... " Tum..Tum shayad yeh dhoondh rahi ho...? "
GUNJAN looked at him and then at his hand which held the Feviquick tube, taking it from his hand, she looked at him and said... "Thanks !! Yeh aapko kahaan mila...?? Yaa,Main isse hi dhoondh rahi thi.."

SAMRAT replied in a very low tone... " wo wahaan table par rakha tha... ! "
GUNJAN looked at him when she heard his low tone... she felt bad for him and was about to say something to him, when he cut her off and said ... " Chalo ! Jaldi se unn cup pieces ko jod dete hain... warna tumhari BIJI phir se aa jayengi ki,tumne ab tak jodna start kiya yaa nahin... " he smiled as he spoke, but looked away quickly and walked towards the bed, where the pieces lay... GUNJAN was confused on seeing this behavior... SAMRAT never hid himself like that... that much she had known about him till now. She also came near the bed and what she saw surprised her even more.
SAMRAT was adjusting the pieces that lay on the bed. And it did not take him long to adjust the pieces and when GUNJAN saw him so excited, as he was joining those pieces, she was even more surprised. As he finished adjusting the pieces, he looked at GUNJAN, as he said, pride all so evident in his tone... " Dekha !! Ab koi nahin keh sakta ki,yeh cup kabhi tuta bhi tha...after all,Isse maine jo thik kiya hai... he took the Feviquick tube from her hands and started to stick the pieces, as he continued... "Pata hai...? jab, main school mein tha Mujhe craft mein always A+ Grade milti thi...Mom toh itni khush ho jaati thin ki... " he stopped talking, as he recollected those days with his mom... a smile flickered on his face. Then, just as quickly, the smile vanished and reality struck him, bringing him back to the present. His eyes were filled with the sadness he felt in his heart when he remembered the death his mother faced, prematurely.
GUNJAN was noticing this change in his expressions and could not understand the reason behind the changing expressions. She wanted to ask him, what was hurting him... but she was worried about his anger resurfacing if she asked questions. But she decided to face his ire and was about to say something when someone knocked at the door. Startled, GUNJAN looked at the door and then at SAMRAT. SAMRAT signaled her to open the door as he quickly got up and walked towards the window to hide behind the curtains again.
GUNJAN scurried towards the door and before opening it checked to see if SAMRAT had hidden himself behind the curtains... she then opened the door and was relieved to see AASHU standing at the door. He walked in the room as he said, casually... " Oh Aap yahaan ho?? sabhi aapko Dinner ke liye bula rahe hain... he was looking around the room... searching for someone... aur unhone kaha hai SAM ko bhi le kar aaoon lekin, woh toh apne room mein nahin hain... Maine toh yahin chhipne ko kaha tha..lekin,yahaan bhi toh nahin dikh rahe...??
He checked around as he finished speaking and looked at GUNJAN, waiting for her to say something... that is when SAMRAT rushed out from behind the curtain, relieved as he said... " Thank God ! Jaan bachi...chal room mein chalete hain..maine uss Old lady ke... but he stopped as he saw GUNJAN glaring at him. He quickly corrected his sentence...his naughty smile gracing his face, yet again
I..I mean BIJI !! Tum sab yehi kehte ho naa unhein..?? Haan, toh BIJI ke specs bhi isse hi de diye hain... Ab hamein koi tension nahin...
SAMRAT walked closer to AASHU, who was grinning...both Hi5ed and walked out of the room together, leaving behind a GUNJAN who was shocked ... (( What !! Is it reality or am I dreaming...?? Kya main really inse mil chuki hoon...?? Yeh definitely woh SAMRAT SHERGILL nahin hain jinse Main MUMBAI mein mili thi...Kabhi toh itne strict... ? kabhi itne shararti... ? Kabhi itne serious aur kabhi bachoon jaisi excitement... ?? Main inhein kabhi samjh nahin paaoongi... God ! Kahin main sach mein paagal na ho jaaoon...1 toh inki wajah se mujhe har waqt itni tension ho rahi hai aur 1 hain jinhein ki farq hi nahin pad raha...Ab again Dinner Table par kya hoga...? Woh alag hi matter hai... God ! Please save me..)) Shaking her head, she left the room.
When GUNJAN reached the dinning room, she saw everyone was already there. SAMRAT was sitting next to SUMIT. GUNJAN took her seat opposite SAMRAT. SHARADAji had already served her food and she began eating. Thankfully, all the members were engrossed in casual chat and no one spoke about the events of the day.
She looked around and when she saw SAMRAT, she looked downwards... he was staring at her... she ate a few more morsels, without looking up and again, after some time, when she glanced at him, she realised he was as yet staring at her. Though not all the members noticed this, but one family member was noticing this... right from the start of dinner...
