Pyar ka Dard hai

To say jay was shocked would be an understatement. Khushi had told him the complete plan and he was surprised to know that his sister had made such a brilliant plan. He was all in praise for her brain.

"I am with you sister. Let's begin"

"Jay, make sure that no one gets to know about our plan. I value trust and loyalty a lot."

"Don't worry Khushi, and yes I forgot to tell you, don't sleep on your bed tonight."

"Why? What happened?"

"Actually Payal had called the carpenter yesterday and she had bribed him to damage one of the legs of the bed. She knew you always stay in that room. So she wanted to welcome you with a bang. And no one knows about this."

"So where will I sleep tonight?"

"Hmm I'll sleep on couch and you could sleep on my bed."

"Jay I have an idea. We'll back fire her plan."

"But how"

"Just wait and watch."

Khushi winked at her brother and went downstairs where everyone was present at the dinner table. Arvind and Arnav too were sitting there. Arnav was keenly listening to Shashi and Payal was staring at Arnav like a fool. Her dadi was ordering the servants and Jaya was busy in the kitchen. The youngest gupta aka Pari was sitting on the dinning table with a book. As soon as Khushi sat on the chair, Arnav's eyes drifted towards her. Jay too followed and sat beside her. Jay was quick in noticing Arnav's reaction. He elbowed Khushi and she just brushed off.

Finally everything was served and dadi told everyone to begin. Special dishes and deserts were made and being served by the servants. And everyone was praising the food. Khushi silently ate her food and jay was too excited to know what Khushi will do now.

"Dadi the bed of my room is broken."

Payal giggled slightly but nobody noticed her except for jay. Everyone looked at Khushi as if she had spoken something appropriate.

"But how?"

"Dadi how would I know? May be termites would have done some damage."

"Oh so you could sleep with Payal today. And tomorrow morning I'll get it repaired."

Payal was drinking water. As soon as she heard her dadi's suggestion she choked and coughed. Jay and Khushi had teasing smiles.

"Dadi I guess Payal is not comfortable with it. And I would have readily shared the room with jay but his room is too messy."

"Khushi beta you could sleep into my room."

Khushi tried to make a genuine excuse because if she lied unnecessarily, her father would catch her.

"Dadi I have a late night conference also. You would be troubled unnecessary." Her dadi got irritated. Khushi had never been on good terms except for her father and jay.

"So you only tell me Khushi what we should do."

"I don't know dadi."

Meanwhile Arvind spoke. "Maa ji Khushi could sleep in my house. We've extra guest room made up. What say Khushi? Do you have any problem?"

"I think Arvind is right maa. Khushi will be safe and comfortable there." Spoke Shashi. Arnav who was elated after hearing his bauji suggestion couldn't help but smile. And jay was closely following Arnav's reaction. Arnav was his teacher and he always made Simran change her seat whenever she sat with jay.

"That's absolutely ok uncle. I'll sleep at your house today. And I have a lot to discuss with you. Papa do you mind?"

"Not at all Khushi."

"Then I'll get my stuff then. Jay please help me out."

"Sure sister."

Saying so Khushi ran to her room and jay followed her.

The reaction of each and every soul on the table was different. Payal was all green because of jealousy. Her stupid idea had made Khushi to stay in her would be fiance's home. Dadi was disturbed to know how alienated Khushi felt at her own home. Jaya was happy at least Khushi wouldn't have to do something for her father's sake. She knew Khushi was never comfortable here. Arvind was glad. He wanted to share some time with Khushi. He was extremely proud of her and in many ways was Khushi's mentor. And the happiest person on the table may be in the world tonight was Arnav. So Khushi was going to stay in his house. He would make sure the next day that the carpenter does not come into gupta house.

In the room.

"Wow Khushi what a sharp mind? Did you see Payal's reaction? I was fighting hard to control my laughter."

Jay hugged Khushi tight. After all Payal had cause a lot of trouble to him.

"And Khushi by the way, Arnav is interested in you?"

"And how exactly you know?"

"I am good in judging people by their expressions. That makes our plan easier."

"jay how much you know Arnav?"

"A lot about him. Actually he is my teacher and he is Simran's brother's friend."

"Simran's brother?"

"Yes. Nikhil Arora is Simran's brother and he is Arnav's best friend. Arnav does not allow me and Simran to sit together in his period."

"Oh I see. Jay I want all the details of Arnav. His likes and dislikes. His friends and enemies. Everything. In about an hour. "

"Alright. Now you should get going and Khushi take care."

"You too jay."

Khushi and jay come out of their room, jay holding Khushi's small bag. Khushi hugged her dad and went with Arvind and Arnav. Jay insisted on dropping her. Arvind and Khushi were walking ahead of Arnav and jay. Arnav casually put his arm around jay. Jay was surprised. Although Arnav and jay had known each other since they were kids but Arnav never showed any kind of familiarity. But suddenly Arnav's friendliness shocked jay.

"So for how long you and Simran are going out?"

Jay for a moment couldn't believe his ears. At first he thought to reply rudely but then Khushi's brother woke up in him. He used his brain and thought it would be best if he answered straightly what he was asking for.

"Hmm for about 6 years."

And this time Arnav was surprised. Jay was only 18 and he had a girl friend for about 6 years.

"Are you serious for her?"

"Yes."

"Then don't worry I'll talk to Nikhil about both of you."

Why was god so grateful to jay today? First Khushi arrived; second she promised to handle the matters at home thirdly they were revenging Payal and fourthly Arnav sorting out matters for him. Jay was all in smiles. Arnav saw that. Arnav had his own plans working.

Jay left Khushi and wished her good night. He went back home and shut the door to his room tight. He had lots of work. He had to dig out the information related to Arnav and that too within an hour.

Arvind showed the room the Khushi and she was delighted to get a room in peace. She never liked crowd. She was used to live with minimum people. And this house fitted the bill.

Khushi and Arvind sat in the study and Arnav too followed behind. He wanted to talk to her but what exactly he would talk was the confusion. Khushi saw him following from the corner of her eyes but she pretended to ignore him. Khushi and Arvind talked about the business and his newspaper columns, while Arnav took out a book and pretended to read.

"uncle your recent column about the weak economy is awesome. Why did you enter army when you could have made a fabulous businessman?"

"Khushi I wanted to serve my nation."

"uncle you know that recently papa and me are trying to file tender for some government projects. You know that will give us more scope in the market."

"yeah that's a great move Khushi I was going to advice you for this only but you are smarter. Which conference do you have Khushi?"

"uncle its with Korean delegates. They wanted to invest in real estate market but they do not want to take risk."

"oh so they want a merger?"

"yup but on their own terms and conditions but they are demanding much."

"I am sure you'll handle them. at what time?"

"3:30 am."

"how is college?"

"that's fine. Prof. Arya says if I top in third year too I get a gold medal."

"that's great Khushi. I think I should retire for tonight Khushi and yes Khushi your papa has message for you?"

"what is that now? Couldn't he himself tell? And uncle he hasn't wished me good luck. See how much he got engrossed in his family?"

"arey let me speak beta. He says today is the last day you are working here. From tomorrow on you're onofficial leave till the time you are in Haridwar."

"and then what exactly will I do here?"

"enjoy yourself."

"and how would I enjoy myself.?"

" Khushi teenagers don't ask questions regarding enjoyment."

"but I enjoy my work. What would I do here?"

"let me think." After some minutes.

"Khushi you haven't seen Haridwar yet. You can see Haridwar?"

"and with whom? Definitely not Payal. Jay is busy too."

Arvind looked at Arnav and then told Khushi.

"Arnav will show you Haridwar."

Arnav who heard all this was elated. After all he got the opportunity to spend some time with her.

"but uncle he would have his work too?"

Arnav's smile disappeared. So she wasn't willing to spend time with him.

"arey no beta, he can take leave. I am telling you he is better than the guides here."

Khushi smiled at her uncle and directed her sparkling eyes at him.

"I guess you are comfortable with it?"

Arnav smiled slightly and nodded and mentally spoke to himself.

"I am more than comfortable."
