SS- Living with a pregnant Khushi part7 pg43 10/7

14^th February 2014. Their 2 year anniversary. Arnav and Khushi had finally overcome all the hurt, pain and misunderstandings, amidst other speed breakers and roadblocks in their relationship, and no matter how clichd it sounds, their love had triumphed. The truth had come out, and Khushi had left after the 6 month contract got over. Only after a lot of begging, pleading and wooing from Arnav's side had Khushi given into her feelings again, this time confident that he won't trample over her heart. They had gotten married again, this time properly. It was indeed like the dream wedding she had always wanted. Scratch that, the reality was better than any wedding she could have dreamt off, and exactly one year after their second wedding, she couldn't have been happier.

He found her near the poolside, gazing at the stars. Probably thinking about the past year, he mused. He didn't know how he got so lucky. He had hurt her so much ever since they had met, yet she forgave it all. He had promised himself then, that he would bring as much joy to her as she brought to him, if not more. Gingerly, he hugged her from behind, wrapping his arms around her waist, his palms on her belly, pushing her back flush against his chest as he rested his head on her shoulder. She gasped at the sudden touch but then relaxed in his hold, putting her hands over his at her belly and snuggling closer to him. She never failed to amuse him with her reaction to his touch. It had been a year since they had gotten married for a second time, yet she reacted as if they were being intimate for the first time, even though they had been in much more intimate situations many times before.

They stood like that for a few minutes, content in being in each other's arms, looking up at the sky where their parents resided.

"Did you enjoy the party Khushi?", he asked, breaking the silence.

"Hmm", came the absent-minded reply from her.

He got a bit worried by her reply. She would usually go on and on talking, especially after parties like this. She would be munching left-over jalebi's long after all the guests left. Today she did none, and he was sure that something was wrong with her. She had anyways been behaving differently in the last few days, always seeming preoccupied, but he never questioned her, knowing that when the time was right, she would tell him what was bothering her, herself. He turned her around then, so that he could give her the good news.

Khushi had been pondering over how to break to good news to him. Would he even think of it as good news, she wondered? Sure, he had changed a lot over the last year, but some things never changed, and she wasn't sure how to react. She planned to tell him today, on their anniversary, but as he turned her around, she didn't know how to say it.

They both took a deep breath, both too immersed in their own thoughts to notice the other's anxiousness.

"Arnav, I'm pregnant."

"Khushi, you're pregnant."

They both said at the same time, and then stared at each other. Arnav said his typical 'what the', while Khushi's wide eyes and open mouth gave away her shock, before both burst into peals of laughter. "How did you" - Khushi began, as the laughter faded, but he silenced her with a peck on her lips and a bone-crashing hug, as he twirled her around in pure and utter delight. He put her down, his arms lay at her waist and her's around his neck, as they held each other close, looking into the others eyes, silently thanking them for such a wonderful anniversary gift. Time seemed to stop for these lovers as they saw nothing but a happy life time with each other and their upcoming bundle of joy.
