🎉 Happy Birthday, Raji (Savera84) The Sunshine of Our Mornings💐
"Arnav, it's 9 already wake up. Don't you need to go to office?", said Khushi to a still asleep Arnav, whose only response was to put the pillow over his head. They had been up until the wee hours of the morning because of Khushi and her cravings. Well, what's an 8th month old pregnant woman supposed to do?
"Arnav!", she called him again.
"Khushi, let me sleep" he mumbled from beneath the pillow.
"Arnav enough!", said a now annoyed Khushi, as she removed the pillow covering his head.
Forced to open his eyes, he looked at her, hand on her hip, eyes ready to kill. She just looked so adorable, he thought. Oh how he wished that he could pull her onto the bed, in his arms, but she was pregnant dammit, so he obviously couldn't; much to his increasing frustration.
"Khushi", he whined, extending his hands to try and get the pillow from her.
"Arnav", she imitated his voice, "get up, get ready, come down for breakfast and then go to office".
"I'm the boss Khushi, I can go whenever I want to", he reminded her, nevertheless lifting the covers off his body and getting out of bed.
"I know you can Arnav. But you have a meeting with the CEO of TG Industries today, and you promised not to miss any days since you insist on taking a 3 month long leave from next week. Seriously Arnav, I'm just pregnant, I can take care of myself -"
"Oh really?" He interrupted her.
"Shutup", she muttered, "there are enough people fussing over me during the day Arnav, I don't need you to be one of them too!"
"And here I thought that you'd be happy to spend more time with your husband. Theek hai, if you don't want to spend time with me, I'll go back to office."
"Arnaaav, you know I didn't mean it like that."
"Then what did you mean, Khushi? Jab ghar late aata hoon toh bolti ho that I don't spend time with you, and now that I'm taking a break from office you complain! Tell me, what am I supposed to do?" finished Arnav, with a teasing whisper, enjoying the feeling of a flustered Khushi .
"What the"
"Tumhe what the ke siva aur kuch nahi aata hai kya?", said an Arnav whose eyes sparkled with such mischief that it almost made Khushi wonder whether she was talking to a 5 year old kid.
"Arnav, aap bhi na"
*flashback*
"Hi", he said in that husky voice of his that never failed to make Khushi weak in her knees, when he returned from office. He was aching to hold her in his arms after being away the entire day at work, and gently pulled her closer to him from her waist. Well as close as her growing stomach allowed them to be, yet close enough that they could feel each other's breath, close enough for them to not differentiate between their breaths and they mingled with each other. With her hands around his neck, his on her waist, he bent down to capture her lips in his. He kissed her softly and slowly … as if they had all the time in the world, as if her pleasure was the only thing that mattered, and with her continued moaning against his lips he knew that he was succeeding.
And then all of a sudden many things happened at the same time. They broke apart for air, Arnav's hands found their way to her cheeks while Khushi's hands left his neck to travel down to her protruding stomach. Her mouth opened wide, her eyes popping out, she made quite the image.
"Khushi? Tum theek ho? What happened?"
"Thebabykicked"
"What?"
"The baby kicked, Arnav. Our baby kicked .. for the first time.", she said again, slower this time, so that he could understand what she was saying, so that she could take in what just happened. Her eyes sparkled with unshed tears at the sheer joy of their baby's action.
"What the"
"Aapko what the ke siva aur kuch nahi aata hai kya?", she bit back, annoyed at his lack of reaction inspite of their baby kicking her for the first time.
Which brings us back to the present, where Khushi is in Arnav's arms, as they both remember this particular moment in their pregnancy.
Khushi's head was on his shoulder when he felt something wet on his favourite, or rather Khushi's favourite Harvard jumper. He knew what that wetness was.
Khushi's tears.
Slowly he removed his arms from around her, lifted her face off his shoulder so he could look at her.
"Khushi, jaan, what's wrong?", he asked worried, his big rough hands cupping her face, which had become slightly swollen due to her tears.
"Arnav, our baby's grown up so fast hasn't he?", she said putting one of her hand on her tummy, "in a few weeks he won't be inside me anymore."
Arnav didn't know how he managed to contain his laugh. Most women would be at their wits end by the time the 9th month of their pregnancy approached, waiting till their baby would get out of their stomach and then there was his Khushi.
"Khushi, in a few weeks the baby will be with us. You'll be able to see her, hold her, she'll be with us in flesh, in real .. Isn't that so much better than having her in your stomach?"
"But I'll miss him being in my tummy, Arnav .. I can't believe that it's almost 9 months."
"We can always get another baby in your stomach after this one is born, kyun Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada?" said Arnav in a low and husky voice, winking at the suggestion and then laughing when he saw the blush rising in Khushi's cheeks, turning her as red as a tomato, albeit a cute tomato.
"Laad governor .. What does he think of himself? Doesn't he know how much effort it takes to manage small babies that he's planning for one more already?" she murmured to herself, "And look at how he's laughing right now ..hmph."
"I don't want to talk to you", she told him in a louder voice, trembling a bit due to the tears that had dried about her throat and turned away from him to leave the room. However, before she could move much further he caught her wrist and pulled her to him again, flicking her nose with the index finger of his free hand. "Khushi", he said softly, as his hands cupped her cheek again, wiping the remnants of tears from her face "jaan, think about all the things you'll be able to do once our baby is born, like..like you'll be allowed to eat your jalebi's again!
"Jalebi's .. Jalebi's .. I'll be able to have my jalebi's again? Sach Arnav?", she said with such excitement that it baffled Arnav how she was in tears just a few minutes back. He was brought back to earth when he felt Khushi's arms wrap themselves around his neck so tightly and with such force that he staggered back a little. As soon as he was able to balance himself better, he hugged her back, equally tight, pulling her as close as possible.
"I love you dammit" he murmured into her hair
"Hum bhi aapse I love you dammit" came her reply, both happy and content to be in each other's arms .. To be with each other, as they await the arrival of the symbol of their love, their baby.
Looking forward for all the comments .. good and bad. Do leave your feedback behind, I will be waiting, as always :)
