"Arnav I want jalebis", said a now highly irritated Khushi for the nth time. It had been around 3 weeks since she last had a jalebi and her patience had finally worn off. She needed her jalebis, NOW!
"Khushi, jaan I know you want jalebis but you can't have them. It's not good for you or our child Khushi", replied Arnav, cupping her face in his hands, looking into her eyes as he held onto the last threads of calmness, hoping that she would understand his helplessness before he lost his cool, but this is Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada we're talking about, and when did she ever listen to her husband?!
"I don't care. I want jalebis", she exclaimed stubbornly.
That was all it took for Arnavs control to snap as his helpless eyes turned into fiery in the matter of seconds, "you can't have the jalebis Khushi, and that's final" he said in a firm and slow voice, enough to make Khushi utter a 'laad governor' and 'rakshas' under her breath and leave the room. "Khu-" he tried to stop her but even with a swollen belly she was too fast.
It was funny how life worked. During these moments he would do anything to make Aman disturb him with a phone call, Di, Nani or HP to knock on their door, because he hated, absolutely hated to deny Khushi something, especially because she was pregnant but no, they would only interrupt them when they were sharing some romantic moments, he thought irritatedly. It was almost as if they had some sensor that would ring the minute he got close to her. Shaking his head at his thoughts he rushed behind his wife, hoping that she was not too angry.
He found her at the dining table devouring the aam ka achaar. A sweet smile lit up her face as she closed her eyes, savouring the taste and he leant against a pillar, looking at her with admiring eyes, a small smile playing on his lips at the scene in front of him.
She felt her heartbeat pick up pace, just as it always did when he was nearby, which was, when she thought about it pretty much all the time. She turned around, slowly, feeling a blush creep up her cheek under his intense gaze and his smile widened seeing the effect he had on her even after all these months and years. With a lot of difficulty she broke away from his captivating brown orbs and her eyes fell to the jar she was having the achaar from not so long ago.
As if remembering the reason she came down in the first place, she let out an irritated sigh and looked away from her husband. Arnav walked towards her, cupped her right cheek with his left hand and was about to talk when she began – "Don't even think about it", she glared, pointing her finger aggainst his chest, "It won't work this time."
His hands moved down to rest on her waist, pulling her as close to him as her belly allowed, "Oh really?" he asked with the hint of a smirk, both getting lost into the depth of the others eyes. Her fingers went on to clutch on collar and the back of his neck. His faced inched closer to hers when suddenly two 'ahem ahem's' got them out of the reverie and they pulled apart, Arnav showing no restrains at his frustration at being interrupted while she only glared at him, embarrassed to be caught in such a position, a tinge of red clearly seen on her face. Again. They looked at the other side only to see NK and Anjali Di; both having identical teasing smiles on their face trying not to giggle at Arnav and Khushis expressions.
"Unbelievable", uttered an Arnav whose thoughts went back to what he was thinking earlier about his family. 'Why can't he spend some moments with his wife without his family interrupting?' he thought sulking.
30 minutes later saw Arnav furiously typing on his laptop; for once doing proper work from home instead of just pretending too, as he does oh-so often. Khushi had come into the room some time ago, but he was too annoyed to go to her for the time being, which is why he decided
"You're staring", he suddenly said not looking at her.
"I'm gazing", came her half dazed reply.
"It's creepy", he let out, finally looking at her.
"It's romantic" she said with a smile, walking towards him.
He could do nothing but look at her as she came closer. Looking into his eyes, she bent closer to his face, much like how he often did. "Aap ke kaan ke saath saath nak bhi laal ho gayi hai" (Along with your ears, your nose has become red too), she said, while flicking his nose. "What the" came his reply fully expecting a kiss. Her only response was giggling, and he couldn't help but let out a smile of his own, watching her. Admiring her. Promising himself to do anything to make sure that this smile, this laughter is what filled her life and the child that was on the way.
