I'm honestly not a huge fan of sad updates but there is just something about the way you write that makes everything feel so real. Its like every emotion described is so apt and natural. Chapter 22

"Thank god!"

Amar looked over curiously when he heard Dharmesh mutter.

"What?"

"I said 'thank god'. Its good to finally see you thawing out. Until a few days ago I felt like I was living with a statue. Glad to see you gradually returning to your old self.." Dharmesh explained.

Amar smiled, "And you're also wondering what brought about the sudden change, right?"

Dharmesh nodded sheepishly, smiling a little.

"Dont worry, you're not the only one...everybody has been wondering the same." Amar chuckled.

"Care to explain then?" Archie asked as he and Shantannu came and joined them.

The four boys settled at the bar and ordered drinks.

"Well...?" Shantannu pushed.

Amar, smiling at their impatiene, finally deciding to clear their doubt about his sanity.

"I'm getting Shakti back!" he let the bomb drop.

He looked at each of their faces. Archie and Shan looked a little shocked but Dharmesh just smiled.

"About time!" Dharmesh exclaimed, crushing him in a bear hug.

Amar smiled and returned the hug before turning to the Archie and Shan. "Why are you guys so shocked? I thought you were hoping for this..."

"We were! But we didn't expect it so suddenly." Shan replied. "You had convinced yourself to stay away so what made you change your mind?"

"She did." he answered simply and honestly.

Dharmesh, Archie and Shan all warmly smiled at the evident love that was shared betweeen the two.

"So what's the plan?" Archie asked.

"Just like you guys originally planned...when she gets here you guys get her to me so we can talk." Amar replied.

"Wait, whaat?! Today? Like now?!" Shan asked incredulously.

Amar shot him a confused look. "Wasn't that what you guys had initially planned?"

"Yea but then we chucked it out the window after that day when we heard from Sneha." Shan was starting to panic. Even Archie fidgeted a little, trying to come up with a back up idea.

"What's the problem? When she gets here all you have to do is make sure she's alone so I can talk to her." Amar was starting to get a little irritated.

"That's the problem though... we dont know for sure whether she's coming or not!" Shan exclaimed.

Amar tensed. He hadn't thought of the possibility that she might not come.

"Shit!" he muttered, running his fingers roughly through his hair and pacing back and forth trying to take in the sudden turn of events.

He shot them a pleading look. "I really wanted to sort things out with her today. I hate staying away from her. I had made up my mind 2 days ago but I thought I would get the proper chance to talk everything out here at Sam's party, so I waited." He stopped pacing and hopped back onto the stool. "I miss her, I dont want to wait any longer" he said in a tired, defeated voice.

Dharmesh patted his shoulder as Archie spoke up. "Dont worry dude. She'll be here. I know her, she thinks about others before herself so she'll come for Sam if not anyone else."

Amar nodded. Archie was right and it gave him a glimmer of hope.

"You came!!!" Sam yelled before grabbing her in a breath crushing embrace.

"Happy Birthday Sam!" she hugged her back.

"Shaks!!" Alisha and Vinti screamed before attacking her in tight hugs.

She laughed and hugged them back with equal affection. "I missed you guys!"

"Well its a good thing you came or else I would have had to hunt you down." Vinti giggled.

They all shared a hearty laugh before going over to the rest of their gang.

Shakti tensed realizing she would have to see him any moment now. She could already she Bharat and Shan from where she stood and guessed he would be there too.

They approached the group and all greeted her one by one. She let out a breath she was unaware she had been holding when she noticed he wasnt there. She wasnt sure if she was relieved or dissappointed. Maybe both.

Sneha gave her a quick hug before letting her get crushed in the tight embraces of the rest of their friends.

She hugged Maccie, Bharat, Amar G, Shan and kissed Priyanka on the cheek before approaching Archie.

She had been fighting the overwhelming feeling of care and affection from her friends till now. One look at Archie and she felt the tears sliding down her face.

Archie didnt waste a minute. He pulled her against him and hugged her, conveying how much he missed her. She felt all his brotherly affection and love through his embrace. They held onto each other possessively, making up for the months away, till Archie finally pulled back.

He ran his fingers across her face, dislodging all her tears. "You know I hate it when you cry."

"I've only cried in front of you once. Besides that you only saw me cry for shoot." Shakti laughed.

Archie shrugged. "Still."

Shan came and draped his arm around Shakti's shoulder turning her to face everyone else. "He's not the only one that missed you." he teased.

Shakti smiled up at him, wrapping her arm around his waist. "Guys, this is Sam's party so the spotlight's supposed to be on her!"

"Exactly it's my birthday and Shaks gets all the attention" Sam huffed in mock anger, trying to fight off a grin.

"You want attention? Well here goes then..." Maccie pounced on Sam followed by Bharat, Vinti, and Alisha.

They all laughed happily.

Yet the whole time, in the back of her mind, there was one question nagging her. 'Where was HE?!'
