Part 7
Khushi narrowed her eyes, and teeth bared, beamed back at her husband, 'I want to talk to you Arnavji. Our room, right now'. 'I want that too Khushi, believe me', his voice lowered to a whisper, 'you and me in our room, but.'. His eyes met his sister's laughing ones over Khushi's shoulders. Anjali reached them and hooked an arm around her sister-in-law's waist, 'Why are you monopolizing my sister-in-law Chotey, I know she is your wife, but now that her family is here, should not she be allowed to spend some time with them?'. A look passed between husband and wife and Arnav quipped, 'I was telling her the same thing Di, that she should spend some time with Amma and Buaji but Khushi wanted to go to our room and', he cleared his throat, 'ummm talk, yes, she wanted to talk to me'.
'I am sure both of you have lots of things to talk about', Anjal drawled, 'just wait for the guests to leave. And think, from tomorrow, you will able to… talk as much as you want without the presence of the family'. She winked at her brother and walked Khushi back to rest of the family, whispering 'hota hai Khushiji, I understand how it feels, be a little patient, ok?'. Khushi was a little bewildered, why could not she speak to her husband in their room? And why should she be patient about it? Whatever, she shrugged, Anjali was pregnant and maybe that's why was acting strange. She had acted the same way seeing the bed sheets lying in a heap on the floor too.
Arnav Singh Raizada watched his wife being led away by his Di and expelled a long breath. He was happy with the way things have turned out. Khushi was bound to him now, this time in the eyes of law as well. She had pushed her way into his monochromatic world and had coloured it every colour of the rainbow. He had every intention of making Khushi his, completely and irrevocably. Knowing her moral values, he was very well aware that the temporary nature of the six month clause would never allow her to surrender to her feelings. She would feel guilty, hate him and herself and that would never do. He nodded in agreement to whatever mamaji was saying, without paying any attention and stood up; it was time to execute the next step.
There was an expectant hush in the room, as Arnav walked up to the middle of the hall and gestured Khushi to stand next to him. He reached out and caught her hand in his, 'I know all of you were shocked and hurt by our sudden wedding. I won't go into the whys and hows, but I just want all of you to know that it was me who took the decision. I did not allow Khushi to have any say in it.' He pressed her hand hard and surprised by the sudden pressure she closed her mouth, swallowing the questions that threatened to escape.
Leaving his shell-shocked family behind, he strode to his study where Aman was waiting for him; closing the door to indicate that the discussion was over. Arnav Singh Raizada has spoken and the matter ended there.
After an hour of being grilled by the family, Khushi was glad to make her escape, pleading a headache. Her head reeled from the fast paced drama directed by her husband. First he declares that she is his for ever and ever, touching her in all those places and then he goes and gets their wedding registered, making it legal. And he had declared to the family that he was solely responsible for the suddenness of their marriage and that she was not be blamed. Why? Khushi's frustration was reaching an all-time new level.
After taking two leather bound files from Aman, Arnav pored over them, going over the fine prints, checking every intricate detail. Finally satisfied, he walked out of the room, to find his in-laws gone. Di and Nani were sitting in the hall, miffed with him no doubt for not disclosing any details. Payal was being lectured by Mami and most importantly there were no signs of his wife. Walking over to Payal, he handed one of the thick files to her, 'As a member of the Raizada family, you are now a shareholder of AR. Please go through the file and let Akash or me know if you have any questions.' Payal opened and closed her mouth several times, looking helplessly at the women, Di and Nani were smiling approvingly while her mother-in-law made her usual lemon-sucking face. She lost her ability to form a thought at all, when Arnav, starting to leave, paused and turning to her, smiled softly, 'welcome to the family Payal'.
Arnav walked up the stairs, trying to hide his eagerness to reach his wife. His tigress, he knew, would be lying in wait. He was not disappointed. Khushi was sitting on the mint-green lounger, back ramrod stiff, foot tapping impatiently, slender fingers knotting and unknotting her saree pallu. Arnav hid a smile and decided to nettle her a little more. A furious Khushi was a treat to watch. He strolled nonchalantly to where she was sitting and threw a fat, leather bound folder on her lap, effectively stopping her from getting up. Startled, Khushi frowned at the file.'Yeh kya hai?'
'Your shares in AR, Mrs Raizada and before you start, yes, Payal got hers too.'
'Shares? I don't want any shares.', Khushi threw the offending file on the bed and moved to stand in front of Arnav.
'What about your husband Khushi? Don't you want me?'
'Nahin….hum…' Khushi gulped audibly, shaken at the question. She wanted to ask him something, but his narrowed-eyed stare was making her forget what. She took a step back as he advanced, 'no? You don't want me? Not even a bit?'
She shook her head, trying to gather her thoughts, quite amazed at the turn of events. Arnav reached out and traced the vein beating madly on her throat, a thoughtful look in his eyes. Without giving her any time to react, he bent his head and pressed his mouth against the throbbing pulse. He gently bit her throat and felt victorious at her wince. His hands travelled the length of her sides and bracketed her slim waist, fingers rubbing the satin-smooth skin. Khushi shuddered as she felt his mouth leaving her throat, held her breath as he paused at her collarbones and sighed in relief as he continued his journey north. His rained open-mouthed kisses on the slender column of her neck, on the corners of her jaw and paused on reaching the lush curve of her mouth.
There was a nagging voice in her head, louder now as his mouth was no longer branding her skin; reminding her that she was forgetting something, but she shushed the voice, vexed at the interruption. She was drowning in sensation, the blood in her veins flowing like warm honey.
He waited for a second, his warm minty breath whispering over her trembling lips and on finding no obstruction, claimed the warm, fragrant mouth that had drove him crazy since the day he had met her. She tasted sweet and spicy and Arnav went wild at the forbidden flavour. He nipped the plump bottom lip, his tongue gaining entry as she gasped. They came up for a much-needed breath and Arnav's heartbeat stopped for a second as he looked into her eyes. He could see passion in the innocent eyes, arousal that she could not hide.
Impatient now, he pushed her pallu aside, drawing a sharp breath at the sight that greeted him. The upper parts of her milk-white breasts, left bare by the low-neck of her blouse, gleamed invitingly, the pearly skin infused with rose. With a finger that was not quite steady, he sketched a line from her neckline to the velvety cleft. His bride trembled in his arms, her hands grabbing his biceps. Arnav became painfully hard, his body crying out for the succour that only this woman could provide.
Unable to stop himself, he kissed the petal soft skin of her cleavage, licking the skin, feeling rewarded as she dug her nails in his arms in response. He cupped the sweet mounds in his hands and kneaded. She whimpered as his thumbs flicked at the stiff peaks, making them tingle with want. He wondered if she was aware of the effect she had on him. He was this close to taking her. He could swallow her whole, he was that hungry.
Forcing himself to slow down, he took a deep breath, brushing her forehead in a soft kiss. She was trembling violently and a sudden rush of tenderness flooded through him. She was such an innocent; this sensuous attack on top of their wedding being legalised today would be too much for her to accept without a verbal declaration. And he could not give her that. Not that he did not want to, but because he did not know how to.
Khushi's eyes flew open at the feel of something cold and metallic touching her neck; her brain finally understanding and accepting that her husband had no intention of continuing with the sweet torture that made her a puppet dancing to his tunes. A blood-red ruby pendant, in the shape of a heart, surrounded by what even her untrained eyes recognised as flashing diamonds, hung from a platinum chain, the pendant nestling cosily in the valley of her breasts, still tingling from his earlier caresses.
'My stone-heart', announced Arnav Singh Raizada, pointing at the crimson stone.
I am not really sure how it turned out..your take on it please.
