Chapter 6
Khushi woke up the next morning. She was feeling better and she didn't have a fever anymore. Payal was shocked at her fast recovery but still insisted that she rest for today. Payal left for school with Akash and Khushi was just sitting there, bored. She decided to go to "the place". She did her morning routines and left for "the place". She didn't have to worry about Arnav being there because Mr. Arrogant Class Topper never misses a day of school. She walked over to the old wing and into the attic. When it was time to climb out of the window she took a deep breath. Come on Khushi! You can do it! She started climbing and when she got about halfway down she couldn't climb down any further. *Thud* The window closed. Great! I can't climb down nor can I go back up. This day just gets better and better. Suddenly she felt a strong pair of arms hold her from the waist and carry her down. She got down and turned around to say thank you when she realized that those pair of arms belonged to none other than Mr. Arrogant Class Topper.
"You? What the hell are you doing here?"
"Um Khushi, I think your forgetting that I showed you this spot."
"But isn't Mr. Arrogant Class Topper supposed to be in school?"
"Yeah but, erm, um."
"Whatever, I'm going back." Khushi looked up at the window. Guess not. She walked to 'the spot' and seated herself on a rock and Arnav seated himself in front of her.
Khushi brought the book Arnav lended her and held it out to him.
"Here."
"Did you finish it?"
"I lost interest in it."
Khushi took out another book from her bag and started reading it. She had to kill time some way. Arnav looked at her and adored her struggle to pay attention to the book. It was funny. No not adored just amused he thought to himself.
"Khushi," He finally sighed.
"I'm sorry."
Khushi sighed.
"I'm sorry."
Khushi had her eyes wide open.
"Yes, I'm sorry for jumping to conclusions without any proof. I'm sorry for yelling at you. I'm sorry for calling you names. I'm sorry for everything I did yesterday. I'm sorry for misjudging you. I misjudged you-someone who redid my project for me while they were sick for someone who would stoop low and sabotage my project."
Khushi looked at Arnav. Aww.. He really meant it. Wait no, KKG doesn't forgive easily. Act pricey. Khushi turned around facing her back at Arnav and smiled.
"I'll think about it. But for now find me a way to get back on campus."
Arnav didn't know anything except for the fact that he needed Khushi's forgiveness. He climbed up the building with Khushi clinging on to him and was about to break the glass of the window when Khushi stopped him.
"What the heck do you think you're doing."
"Trying to get us out of here. I need you to forgive me Khushi"
Khushi looked at him. He really wanted her forgiveness but yet Khushi's ego took her over.
"Well, I don't want any trouble here. So you are not doing that." That was when Khushi noticed some of her colleagues walking in the hallways. She started hitting the glass as hard as she could and finally someone heard her. It was Mike.
"Hey, how'd you get down here. I thought you were sick?" Mike asked pulling Khushi up and helping Arnav as well.
"I am much better but Payal insisted I rest. So I got bored."
"And you decided to jump out of a window?" Mike asked.
"What? No! I am not suicidal!" Khushi yelled out.
"Just joking, god!" Mike said. He didn't bother asking Arnav but he was shocked he skipped class today.
Khushi walked back to her dorm. Payal and Akash came back.
"Here are the assignments you missed. Nothing much just one small report on chapter 5 and these 3 worksheets." Payal said handing her the stuff.
"Thanks!" Khushi chirped.
"Someone is happy today." Payal said.
Khushi remembered Arnav's genuine apology.
"No, nothing of that sort."
"Well, Akash and I are going on a date. We called Karan and asked if he would like to double date with us. He said yes."
"And?"
Payal sighed. Sometimes she wondered how Khushi was considered smart. "It means be ready by 8 and meet Akash and Me in his room."
"His room?"
"Yeah cause Karan and Akash are hanging out today they are watching a cricket game."
"Since when did Karan start hanging out with people of the college?"
"Come on! Not everyone can be like you. Satisfied with just one amazingly awesome cool beautiful loving best friend."
Khushi smiled and then shook her head.
