yes there are eight types of Vivah mentioned in Hindu Mythology...they were made to give security to the girl...
in whichever way a Man made physical relation with a girl either by force, by drugging her, by kidnapping her, by her own consent...they are all covered in different types if Vivah...so that society will not see down to that girl...
actually Devadassi Pratha was also started for girls security but it took ugly turn because of some greedy Pujaris...
when Sri Krishna saved girls from the clutches of Kamsa and other Demon kings...there was a possibility that society will not accept those girls back and they have to either commit suicide or live petty lives so Krishna gave them shelter and respect as his wives...that is how Krishna had 16000+ wives...later this incident was used to make girls marry to Krishna Idol and called Devadassis...
very beautiful update...
Geet-Maan are now married but will society approve this marriage because as Devadassi she is first already married to Krishna...
waiting for next update,...
thanx for pm...
yes everytime it happened in history some custom started for something good has turned ugly in the hand of some corrupted people.. actually like political power religion also created lots of destruction as it gone to wrong hands
about the story of Krishna .. I can't remember the king's name now who abducted Biswakarma's daughter n to save her Krishna went there with his wife Satyavama, from there he rescued 16000+ girls who were abducted n imprisoned by him... Shri Krishna married them in the request of Satyabhama to give them a respected place in society .. that's y Satyabhama is called the true Ardhangini of Krishna as she was always there to support him ... be it in Ved or epics it speaks about women right but later corruption, greed n lust of some ppl in power ruined it all
