Alia Bhatt known for her versatility in films like Student of the Year, Highway, Raazi, and Gully Boy. Recently her father, Mahesh Bhatt, emphasized that her success is entirely self-made. During an interview on The Himanshu Mehta Show, the renowned filmmaker discussed how Alia's ambition consistently amazes those closest to her, including her husband, actor Ranbir Kapoor.

“I didn’t launch Alia Bhatt. Karan Johar launched her. I didn’t know she had so much thirst for acting in her. She gave the audition herself. I just got to know they loved her work. I was shocked because I hadn’t seen any such traits in her even remotely. I’m very happy she’s a self-made girl," Mahesh said, reflecting on his daughter’s unexpected journey into films.

What impresses Mahesh the most is Alia Bhatt's fearless approach to experimenting with diverse characters and storylines. “Alia has astounded me! What is unique about her is that she has a taste for taking risks and she’s taken the detours into diverse narratives."

Now a mother to daughter Raha Kapoor, Alia has begun a new chapter in her personal and professional life. Mahesh added that he sees a new depth in her, noting that her motherhood has brought about a different kind of maturity. He also expressed his anticipation for her upcoming films.

When questioned about Ranbir's perspective on Alia, Mahesh offered a candid insight. “He says, ‘Alia is made of different stuff.’ When I ask him, ‘What do you mean?,’ he says, ‘Her ambition to do more and more and more is unbelievably astounding!’ While he’s a person who’s very laid-back and comforted, and he just wants to do enough. She’s a go-getter."

Mahesh also weighed in on the ongoing conversation around nepotism, acknowledging that while access can make things easier, it’s not the whole story. He explained that nepotism is a reality, but it's not the only factor, as talent should not be disqualified.

He added, “But it’s definitely easy for them. Because access is success. Talented people don’t even get access for years. It’s important to understand that the voice that’s been raised against nepotism, there’s a collective anger behind that. That’s why we get to hear about that every other day.”

Alia Bhatt is currently engaged in the production of Alpha, a film within the Spy Universe, where she stars alongside Sharvari Wagh. The release of Alpha is scheduled for December 25, 2025.

In addition to Alpha, Alia Bhatt is set to reunite with her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love and War. The film will also feature Vicky Kaushal in a leading role.
