A Maaneet Tale

Hiya! Above siggie is by ARMAANKSGFAN. Thank you for making such a nice siggie for my FF 😆

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this Chapter but please note that this Chapter is going to be VERY sad so read at your own risk!

Chapter 9

I twisted the Taveez.

I was scared already. When Sir was with me, he was made me feel safe.

And now that he's gone, I feel scared, impatient, and lonely.

As I heard the doors creak open, I prayed it would be him entering but as soon as the doors creak open, lady voices echo around the restroom.

Finally, I heard a male clearing his throat and I knew it must be him. He knocked on my door and I unlocked it. He handed me over some clean clothes

Maan: "Here are some clothes. Change and meet me outside the restroom" he said firmly and left, leaving me to it. He also bought me some shoes to wear. I took off the heels which were killing my feet undressed out of my torn Saree. I began to wonder what I was going to tell Pinky. The Saree surely must be expensive. I decided to pay for the Saree from my salary money.

I started to think about the bills and expenses I had to pay as I undressed and dressed back into the beautiful, churidaar. Something I hadn't worn in ages.

I fixed my dubatta into the right places and put on my shoes. It felt good to be comfortable again. I unlocked the door and started to clean my zombie like face. He also left a brush for me near the sink. I started to brush my hair, untangling all the knots.

Sir was so nice. Any girl would be lucky to have him as her husband or boyfriend.

I sighed and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked fine. I looked like an ordinary girl again except my eyes were still slightly red from crying.

I exited the washroom and slowly walked towards Sir's direction. I was so embarrassed. He had seen me in this state. I wonder what he was thinking of me now. I went up to Sir and looked down at the ground. I couldn't face him anymore.

Maan: "I will not force you to tell me what happened. You can tell me when you like" he said in a soft voice as I fiddled with the Taveez. I looked up and a faint smile formed on my lips.

Maan: "I'll take you home Geet. Get some rest. Work as usual tomorrow" he said and looked at me.

"What will the people inside think?" I said out loud and twisted the string of the Taveez. I looked at Maan for a solution.

Maan: "I'll say that you weren't feeling well" he said simply

That was true. I was seriously not feeling well. My wrists still pained from Dev's aggressive actions and my head was like a bomb about to explode any minute.

I nodded obediantly at Sir and he started to lead the way to the exits. I slowly walked behind him, wanting to just go home and get inside my bed.

So I can forget all my sorrows.

I entered Khurana Constructions the next morning and answered the polite questions that were being asked to me.

Adi: "A-a-re you feeling OK now?" he asked me as I headed towards my cabin. I smiled and nodded at him.

Pinky: "Do you need anything to drink? Or eat? Eating makes me feel better!" she squealed. I smiled and shook my head again and unlocked my Cabin. I sat down in my chair and looked at the window on my left.

At the same time, Sir turned to look at me. He faintly smiled and I smiled back.

Just when I started typing on my laptop, I jumped when the phone started to ring. I picked it up.

"Khurana Constructions"

Maan: "Geet, can you find the blueprint file? I can't find it" he said in a gentle tone. For the first time, he didn't yell at me over the phone.

"Ji Sir" I said and hung up. I walked over to the shelf of files and started browsing it and furrowed my brows when it wasn't there.

"Kaha rakhdi mene file" I wondered out loud to myself and went back to my desk.

I started to rummage through the draws of the desks and froze when I saw the pink engagement box I had kept in there.

The Taveez was lying right beside it.

What was taking Geet so long?

I sighed and tapped the table with my fingers and looked at my watch. I finally decided to just look at the window and I froze when I saw the most dreaded thing ever.

She was holding the engagement box.

The dreaded pink engagement box.

Geet was holding the engagement box in her hands. I watched her open it and the sparkly ring was exposed in front of me and her.

A faint smile appeared on Geet's lips as she took the ring out of the box. She held it in front of her and I watched her turn it at different angles to explore the ring.

I watched her put the ring on her left ring finger.

It was a perfect fit.

I felt a tear trickle down my cheek.

The ring was beautiful.

I heard some footsteps and quickly put the pink ring box away in the draw. I shut the draw and pretended to type on the laptop.

Pinky: "Geet" she said and munched on her chicken burger as she approached my desk.

Pinky: "Geet chal na. It's break. Canteen me khate hai. Chal" she said and tugged on my hand. I shook my head.

"Pinky, mujhe bohot kaam hai" I said but she still tugged on my hand. I reluctantly went along with her but froze when I saw...

"Daadima?" I said out loud as I stared at her beautiful face

Daadima: "Oh! What a pleasant surprise" she said and came over to hug me. I hugged her back and smiled. I caught Maan's figure at the corner of my eye.

Daadima: "Weren't you the one who came over to my house as Maan's secretary?" she asked and cupped my face like I was special.

I nodded shyly and looked at Daadima's beautiful face.

Daadima: "What is your name?" she asked and smiled at me

"Ji, Geet" I replied and she commented on what a beautiful name my was. She held my hand like we met after years and began to start a conversation but stopped when she felt the ring on my hand.

Daadima: "Geet, you are engaged?!" she gasped and looked at my hand

For goodness sake.

This was all Pinky's fault. In a hurry, I forgot to take off the ring. I looked at Sir and his eyes were like the size of balls when he looked at the ring on my hand and then back at me. I pleaded to Sir with my eyes for a solution but he remained shocked.

Adi: "E-e-engaged?!" Adi exclaimed

Pinky: "Engaged?!" Pinky exclaimed

Sameera: "En... Engaged?!" Sameera exclaimed as she looked at the ring and then back at me. I could see the volcano erupt inside Sameera as she digested it.

Maan: "Engaged?!" Sir exclaimed, pretending to sound shocked when in reality, I knew he was angry at this misunderstanding.

Geet: "Daadima I am not --"

Before I could explain myself, Daadima cut me off.

Daadima: "No, no, no" she said and shook her head in disbelief.

I looked at Sir to help me out here.

Daadima: "With Maan?!" she said and glanced at Maan and then back at me. Suddenly, her face lit up and she hugged me so tightly, the air out of me got knocked out.

Everyone around us started to laugh and cheer and clap while Sameera was frozen with anger, shock, and more.

I didn't know what to do. Sir was supposed to be helping me here but I don't know what he was thinking.

"Excuse me" I said and headed towards the exit of Khurana Constructions. I hailed for a rickshaw, arrived at my flat and headed towards it. I climbed up the stairs and unlocked my door. I closed the door behind me, and collapsed on the bed.

Engaged.

"Baabaji, kya hora hai mere saat?" I stared at up at the ceiling as I prayed out aloud. I closed my eyes to calm myself down. When I opened them again I screamed when I saw Dev in front of me. He held my wrists with one hand and sealed my mouth with the other.

Dev: "Engaged" he hissed through his teeth as he glared at the ring on my finger.

"It isn't true! I'm not engaged!" I protested and shook my head. I could feel him tremble with anger.

Dev: "I'm gonna kill him" he said and headed towards the door

"No! He hasn't done anything! I'm not engaged! I swear!" I called out to him but he didn't listen to me. He left, slamming the door behind him.

I followed him and locked the door of my flat behind me. I ran down the stairs, nearly missing a step and I ran outside. I saw him get into a car. I looked left and right but saw no rickshaw. Then I eyed the car that was parked to the side.

"Driving couldn't be that hard" I wondered and looked at the woman get out of the car. I ran up to the woman and pushed her aside. She went falling to the floor and I rummaged through her purse, looking for the keys. I sat inside the car, put the key in the ignition and started to drive.

For the start, I was driving too fast and I didn't know where the brake was but I didn't care. Dev was already driving fast, heading towards Khurana Constructions.

When we were near Khurana Constructions, I saw Sir get into his black car. I put my foot off the pedal and opened the window.

"Sir! Run! He's after you! RUN!" I yelled

He looked at me, and then the white car which Dev was in horror and quickly sat inside his car.

I think I knew who he was.

I turned the key in the ignition and began to drive fast.

Geet was mentioning something about somebody going to kill me yesterday. That was definitely that guy. I started to drive fast and I glanced at the rearview mirror every 2 seconds. He was right behind me and within' 5 seconds, his car was beside me. Geet was right behind me.

The guy rolled down his window.

"Prepare to die, Maan Singh Khurana" the guy said and smirked.

We were now driving under a tunnel with the guy beside my car, and Geet behind my car. I couldn't take any sharp turns to avoid this guy since I was in the tunnel.

And then the next thing I heard was a bang on my side of the car. He started to bang his car against mine. I fumbled and struggled with the steering wheel, turning it in every direction to get my car back on track. My car started to head towards the pillars on the side which seperated the up and down tracks and I knew I was going to have an accident.

My car crashed against the pillars and after that, I blacked out.

I watched in shock as Sir's car hit the pillar and then bang against the wall. It did a twirl in the air and then landed upside down. Dev's car hit Maan's car and soon, my car was going to hit as well.

I looked at my feet and tried to figure out how to brake.

"Baabaji" I said and closed my eyes tight.

I heard the crash.

I banged against my seat and my head hit the steering wheel. I could hear pieces of glass tinkle musically everywhere and some of the pieces pierced into my head.

I blacked out for about 10 seconds. I slowly opened my eyes and blinked. I could feel pain in my head as the blood oozed out and I felt extremly dizzy.

I smiled at myself. I started laughing uncontrollably as I realized I was alive. I was alive!

My laugh trailed off as I realized what had just happened.

An accident.

A very big, severe, accident.

Maan Sir.

Dev.

Oh my gosh.

I got out of the car, and blinked fast as I tried to regain my steady vision. I knew I was gonna pass out soon. I could just make out that Dev was lying face down on the ground.

But I didn't care about him.

I stared at Maan Sir's car in horror as tears pricked my eyes. His car was lying upside down and I couldn't see anything inside the car.

I opened the door to his car with trembling hands. I could see the back of Maan Sir's head as I reached out to take him out of the car.

I dragged him out and turned his head so he faced me.

Blood was everywhere.

He was so still... For a second I thought he was no more but he started coughing. My knees finally gave in and I fell to the ground next to him. I blinked multiple times so my vision could stay.

I reached out for his wrist and I could just about make out the very slow, irregular beats on his pulse.

The last thing I heard was the ambulance siren.

Precap: Dead.

When I was reading the accident I was remembering how similiar it was to Princess Diana's tragic death, & then you clarified it at the end
Gripping update, I hope Maan doesn't die!
