A Maaneet Tale

Hopefully this update will be better than the last one. I think this update will bring Maan and Geet closer. Anyway enough of me blabbering.

P.S Ignore if not interested but did you watch the Royal Wedding? Kate looked so beautiful. I wish I have a wedding like that in the future 😳

Chapter 10

I wanted to open my eyes.

To break this horrifying dream.

Images of the accident washed over my eyes as I struggled to open them. I lifted my arm but failed to do so as my arm felt heavy and numb.

I was the cause of this.

I shouldn't have put the ring on.

I saw the body of Dev lying face down on the ground, and then Maan who was very severly injured.

All because of me.

And then a sudden picture of Maan lying in a coffin haunted my eyes.

I screamed and finally opened my eyes. I clutched the bed sheets and I didn't know where I was.

I looked around myself and I finally saw my vision come back to me. I was attached to all different kinds of tubes and nobody was in the room I was in.

I looked at the clock and saw it was 3:00am in the morning. The heartbeat monitor reacted to my heart and beeped accordingly.

"Maan" I whispered, forgetting to add 'sir' on the end. I had to see him. I had to see him so I can prove my dream wrong.

I pulled on all the tubes that were attached to me and they broke off. I pulled the duvet away from me and winced in pain as I felt dizzy all over again. I put my hand to my head.

"I'm going to be strong" I decided and got out from the hospital bed despite my aching head that was going to explode any minute. I didn't know where Maan's ward was but I had a feeling it was right next door. I slowly walked out of my room, holding the walls to support me. I turned to next door and looked through the small circular window which was located on the door.

I gasped in shock.

It WAS Maan.

Doctors were operating on him and I could hear what they were saying. By what they were saying, it looked like he was in a very critical condition.

I looked around and I saw Daadima sitting on a chair, all alone. She was crying profusely. I immediately ran over to her and hugged her as tight as I could.

Daadima: "Geet Beta, what are you doing? Your meant to be resting!" she said and looked at me in shock.

"How can I rest when Maan is in a critical condition?" I said and sobbed on Daadima's shoulder

Daadima: "Doctors have already announced that he doesn't have very much time" she said and broke the hug

"What?" I gasped and glanced at the door Maan was in

Daadima nodded and started sobbing some more. Her eye caught the engagement ring which was still on my finger.

Daadima: "I didn't let the doctors remove the ring" she said and sniffed

I decided not to tell Daadima about the engagement which never existed. I didn't want her to be in another shock.

"Daadima, please go home. You need rest. Look at your eyes. You look like a dead zombie" I said, trying to make a joke to lighten the atmosphere. She laughed and cried at the same time and shook her head during the process.

Daadima: "I'm not leaving till Maan is absolutely fine" she said

I got up from my chair and went up to the door to look through the window. I gasped in shock as I looked at the heartbeat monitor.

His pulse was dropping.

I watched as the doctors frantically worked on him. They continued doing this for about 5 minutes but suddenly froze when the heartbeat monitor formed a complete straight line.

"MAAN!" I screamed and opened the door. The door opened and I ran up to Maan. I cupped his face which was ice cold.

"Maan, wake up! I know your playing a prank on me. Your playing dead aren't you?" I said and laughed at his silly joke. But he didn't reply to me and I started to cry.

"Maan please open your eyes" I whispered and hugged him tightly. His arms didn't hug me back. They lay limply to the side.

"MAAN WAKE UP!" I screamed and lay him back down on his bed. I pressed on his chest but he didn't respond to me. I hugged him back to me tightly and rocked back and forth. I felt like my body was being cut in half and was being taken away from me.

"Wake up Maan, give me one more chance" I whispered pleadingly in his ear.

Was I dead?

I didn't know, but I could still hear and think stuff. I could hear Geet commanding me to wake up and I laughed silently in my mind as she called me by my first name for the first time since we met.

I wanted to open my eyes but my body felt so heavy and so painful I couldn't do it.

The doctors were all frozen to my side and watched in horror as I screamed and pleaded. I knew Daadima was outside standing in shock.

Maan couldn't leave me like this.

He couldn't just leave me like this without an explanation.

A sudden idea came to my mind as I thought about Sleeping Beauty. I wonder if the whole kissing thing would work if I kissed Maan.

I bent down and kissed him.

I knew she was kissing me.

That kiss gave me a sudden energy and I felt fresh again.

The heartbeat monitor which wasn't beeping at all now started beeping irregularly and slowly. I looked at Maan in shock as he breathed in hungrily for air.

The doctors around my started to laugh and clap and I felt proud.

I never even knew the whole Sleeping Beauty thing worked.

I looked out at the window and I saw Daadima cry in happiness. The doctors patted me on the shoulder and some of them even hugged me.

I hugged Maan to me in fear of losing him again.

"Don't ever do that to me again Maan" I said in his ear

And surprisingly he replied.

"I wont" he weakly said

When I broke the hug he was already smiling.

Daadima finally agreed to go home and she took me along with her. She begged the doctors to discharge me and let me go but even though I was weak, they let me go due to me curing Sir.

I fed Daadima some food and watched the Royal Wedding on TV. I smiled as Prince William put the ring on Catherine Middleton's ring finger lovingly.

"Daadima, I want to get married like that" I smiled, forgetting about the engagement ring on my finger.

Daadima: "Anything for my children" she said and pinched my cheeks.

Goodness, she considered me her kid already. I felt tears prick my eyes as she was so intent on getting me and Sir married.

*** 3 months later ***

I looked around myself.

Arrangements were going on everywhere for my Royal Wedding like wedding. I watched the servants arrive and leave frantically.

Designer: "How do you like this wedding dress?" the designer asked me and showed me the sketched wedding dress.

"I love it!" I exclaimed and I saw Sir enter Khurana Mansion. He smiled at everyone and then his eyes finally rested on mine. He gave me a faint smile and pointed upstairs with his eyes, gesturing me that he wanted to talk to me in private. I nodded and excused myself. I heard Daadima and all the other guests 'Oh la la'ing behind my back. I could feel the blood rush to my cheeks.

"What is it Sir?" I asked when we were finally in his bedroom.

Maan: "You should know, that this wedding is completely fake. We are getting married, but we aren't getting married. Do you understand?" he pointed at me in anger

"You've used me since I've joined Khurana Constructions so you might as well use me for your wedding" I said sadly and looked down at the ground.

I looked up at Sir and watched as his face turned from anger, to surprise, and then back to anger again.

Maan: "It's your fault. Your the one who wore the ring that day. Your the one who caused the accident" he said angrily and looked away.

"I know. I don't need to be reminded" I said confidently and looked away as well.

Maan: "You need to control your attitude. You cannot speak to me like this" he said and pinned me against the wall.

"Well now that I am your would-be-wife, you need to learn to tolerate my attitude" I said and smiled.

Maan: "Shut up"

"Isn't this what you always wanted? To make Sameera jealous?" I asked

Maan: "Yes. But I didn't want to marry YOU" he said and looked at me up and down.

"Whatever" I said

He put his hands on my waist and kissed me. He traced every inch of my mouth before breaking it.

"Why?" I asked

Maan: "We're going to kiss in front of millions of people. We should practice" he said and kissed my collarbone.

"Your not going to kiss my collarbone though are you?" I asked and giggled

Maan: "Whatever" he said
