Aww glad you liked it!

I know, unfortunately people like him exist. So the sole reason for that part was to make girls more aware that such things are not okay 😔

No problem, shall be updating shortly!

Part 40

Ridhima stared in horror as she saw Sameer making his way towards Armaan and herself. She leant into Armaan, grateful for the fact that he provided her with support, as Sameer's gaze did not waiver from her face.

"Well, well, well, after so long we finally bumped into each other again. I told you we would, didn't I?" Sameer said, the smirk on his face deepening as he slowly walked over to them. Armaan tried moving back, but Ridhima's hand involuntarily tightened on his shirt, and he halted. His hand on her waist tightened to show his support and he readjusted himself so his back wasn't facing Sameer, and he was still pressed against Ridhima.

Ridhima felt an odd sense of calmness washing over her, and she found the small strength within her to look at Sameer and not cry. The smirk was still plastered on his face and it reminded Ridhima of the humiliation she had had to suffer because of him.

When Anjali had found out, she had been shaking with fury. She had wanted to go and punch Sameer for what he had said and done, but Ridhima had calmed her down and made her realize that Ridhima wanted to put everything in the past. She wanted to move on. And if Anjali attacked Sameer, it would only make matters worse, and people would talk about it more. So Anjali had calmed down, but she still hated Sameer, and made it apparent to him every chance she got.

Ridhima decided to be the better person, and smiled a small smile back. Though her lips felt dry, and her face was stiff with tension, she still tried to smile. Even though she could feel that the smile did not touch her eyes, and felt fake, even to herself, she did her bit and let the smile rest on her face.

"It has" She whispered.

Suddenly she felt, the arm that was wrapped around her waist, tighten, and bring her closer to Armaan, almost crushing her to him in the process. Ridhima felt another sense of gratitude wash over her as she saw Sameer's eyes flicker to Armaan, his smirk dipping down at the corners.

'Take that' Ridhima thought. She felt an odd sense of satisfaction at rubbing it in Sameer's face that she didn't need him anymore, and the safety that Armaan was providing her with, filled her with a warmth she couldn't describe.

Despite the fact that it was a chilly December night, Ridhima did not feel a tiny bit cold, as she could feel Armaan's cologne, his body and his heat pressed against her. The sensations and shivers running up and down her spine were making her dizzy with want and desire, but at the same time her confusing feelings of betrayal were holding her back from giving in.

She appreciated the fact that Armaan had his arm on her waist, and he not dipped down too low, taking advantage of the situation. He was a gentleman, never doing anything that a girl was uncomfortable with. And the contrast between Sameer and Armaan was so apparent that for a second she felt herself go breathless.

Why was she thinking Armaan was like the others? Sameer had hurt her, he had hurt her bad. But that was because he had hid the real himself from Ridhima, choosing to let her see what she wanted to see.

But Armaan hadn't hid anything. During the months they had hated each other, Armaan hadn't cared what she had thought, and she had seen his flirty ways, seen his angry times and his sad times.

But what struck out to her was, that he respected the women in his life. Be it Nikki, or even her sister, Anjali. Not once had he done anything that would make her question his character.

Should she believe him when he says that he didn't do anything? Should she believe him when he apologized to her?

These questions were making Ridhima's head spin around, and she felt herself leaning into Armaan more.

It didn't escape her notice that her soft body completely fit Armaan's body. His bulky body made her feel petite and like a woman. She felt a small blush rising to her cheeks at that.

"So it seems like you moved on" Sameer started, and Ridhima felt herself go stiff with tension for a second.

She looked down, as her head spun around with wuestions. Should she take advantage and let Sameer know she ahd moved on? But what if Armaan thought of her differently after this? What if he thought she was...easy?

'No' She firmly told herself. Armaan was helping her out, right now. He could have opened his mouth and told Sameer that they were just friends – if even that after everything that had happened. But he hadn't. He kept quiet, and let Ridhima make the decision, and suddenly Ridhima felt even more grateful towards Armaan.

Why did she constantly jump to conclusions? She should give Armaan a chance to explain. She owed him that much after this.

And so she had made her decision.

"Yeah" Ridhima said finally, looking back up at Sameer, some determination returned in her eyes, and the fire that had been put out by Sameer's arrival, had returned once more.

She saw as his eyebrows shot up in surprise and he looked at Armaan.

"This is Armaan" Ridhima said finally, hesitating before she added, "my boyfriend"

She could feel that Armaan's body had completely stilled with surprise, and Ridhima was pleading in her head for him to play along.

'Please Armaan. Please!' Ridhima pleaded, her hand fisting up as she anticipated his response.

Sameer smirked once more, and Ridhima felt herself scowling at that. Armaan still kept quiet, but he hadn't denied the statement, and Ridhima could feel herself relaxing a tiny bit. However her heart was still racing, and her palms had turned sweaty with nervousness.

Sameer held out a hand, raised an eyebrow and said, "Sameer. Ridhima's ex-boyfriend"

Her past was slowly being laid out in front of Armaan, and she felt more vulnerable than before. She liked the man she was pressed up against, yet she was trying to fight those feelings.

She was scared of what he would think after this, yet she wanted to know.

But he hadn't said anything yet! When Nikki had asked him to be her pretend boyfriend, he ahd agreed in a jiffy. Now he was taking his time, and Ridhima felt her heart sinking by the second. He didn't like her. She had once more made a fool of herself.

As Sameer said those words, Ridhima saw her memories flash by in an instance, and it almost felt like she was going through the humiliation again. She couldn't look at Armaan. She couldn't look at anyone.

So she looked down, as she felt the pain becoming unbearable.

Armaan would reject her. She knew it.

"Armaan. Ridhima's present boyfriend" Armaan said, and Ridhima felt herself go completely still at that. Her heart stopped beating for that second, her breath hitched, her eyes widened, and she felt the hairs at the back of her neck stand up. Suddenly it felt like the warmth that Armaan had been providing her with had vanished, and she felt her arms break out in goosebumps, and suddenly the warmth returned as her cheeks, neck and ears rushed with blood, and her cheeks turned rosy with blush.

He had said it. Ridhima felt relief wash over her, and she looked up slowly at him, surprise evident in her eyes, no matter how much she wanted to stop it from showing so blatantly.

She saw as his jaw was set strongly, the anger was evident with the way he had clenched his jaw, and she was sure that it was directed towards Sameer. But a small part of her hoped that the anger wasn't directed towards her.

She didn't want to fight anymore. She was tired of fighting with him.

She saw as his eyes flickered down at her, and his face softened. His blue eyes met Ridhima's green ones, and Ridhima felt herself go breathless once more. His eyes raked over her face, and she felt the hand that was around her waist, was stroking the curve in her waist. Her heart fluttered at that, and she looked away as the blush returned to her cheeks.

She needs to stop reacting like this! But she couldn't help it.

Looking back at Sameer, she was pleased to see that the smirk was no longer present on his face, and his eyes were staring at her accusingly.

"So she lets you touch her?" Sameer asked Armaan, his eyebrows once more raising in question, as he continued to stare at Ridhima.

Ridhima felt her heart deflate at that, as she was once more brutally reminded of what he had said in the hallway.

"Excuse me?" Armaan hissed, his eyes narrowing at Sameer. Tears stung at Ridhima's eyes once more. Why couldn't her past leave her alone?

A sick smile spread across Sameer's face, as his eyes focussed on Armaan. "C'mon brother. You know what I mean. Does. She. Let. You. Touch. Her? Have you f**ked her-" Sameer didn't get to finish, as Armaan had removed himself from Ridhima and launched himself at Sameer.

He grabbed Sammer by the collar turned him around, so Sameer's back was facing the railing, and pushed him against it so hard, that Sameer upper body was leaning back over the railing.

"Armaan.." Ridhima said, warningly. The people standing at the balcony were now looking at them, curious to see how the scene was going to play out.

"How dare you?" Armaan hissed, his eyebrows furrowig together in anger, his jaw clenched together, and his eyes glaring fiercely at Sameer.

Sameer however continued to look at Armaan with a cool expression on his face.

"Woah buddy. I know you are frustrated, but don't take it out on me. Go to your girlfriend" Sameer snickered, and Armaan's grip on the collar tightened making Sameer cough as the air started to contrict.

"Forget it Armaan" Ridhima said, her heart pounding in her ears, Sameer's words stinging at her heart, but Armaan's acting pulling at her heart strings.

Armaan however ignored Ridhima, and continued to hold Sameer against the railing, his face twisted up in anger.

"Apologise" Armaan hissed.

"Wha-?" Sameer asked, shocked.

"I said. Apologise" Armaan said, tightening his hold on Sameer, making Sameer struggle against him.

"Jesus dude. Calm-" Sameer was cut off once more, as Armaan pushed him against the railing forcefully, tightening his hold on Sameer.

Ridhima saw as his arms were flexed, making each line on his biceps stand out. Ridhima's eyes slowly travelled to to Sameer, and saw the fear in Sameer's eyes, with a hint of cockiness. Ridhima felt such hatred for the man in front of her, that her hands shook with anger. She could feel her eyes hardening, and her mouth pursing together.

"Armaan. Let him go" Ridhima said, surprising herself with how cold her voice sounded. It was time for her to face her past. Face the humiliation she had gone through.

Armaan looked at her, shock evident on his face, and Ridhima tried reassuring him with her eyes. She had to do this. She could no longer let others fight her past.

"Ridhima but-" Armaan started, but Ridhima shook her head. Armaan bent his head in defeat, glared at Sameer once more, clutching hard at his collar, before letting him go.

Sameer pushed himself away from the railing, readjusting his collar, and cracking his neck from side to side. The smirk was once more on his face, and Ridhima's scowl deepened. She despised the man that was in front of her at the moment.

Sameer looked at her, his face displaying every bit of arrogance and cockiness. The fear had dissipated from his face, and he looked as though nothing had affected him.

Armaan was looking at her wearily, waiting for her to do what she wanted to.

Ridhima slowly walked up to Sameer, her eyes not leaving his face. The tears that had been in her eyes a while back had long dried out, and her mind was set on getting things right once more.

Armaan moved to the side, his eyes not leaving Ridhima's face, watching her make her way towards Sameer.

"Ridzi! Armaan!" Ridhima heard Anjali call out to them, as she stepped out onto the balcony, followed by Atul, Rahul and Muskaan.

Ridhima briefly halted, as Anjali walk up to them, and then slowly came to a stop as her eyes fell on Sameer.

"What the hell?" Anjali shouted, and briskly started to walk to Sameer only to be stopped by Armaan.

Ridhima was thankful to Armaan for stopping her. She needed to this on her own.

"Armaan. Let me go. Let me at this guy. You don't-" Anjali was cut off by Armaan glaring at her to shut up. Anjali looked at him confused, and then at Ridhima, but Ridhima did not look at her. She was looking at Sameer, and she saw as the uncertainty in his eyes was back at Anjali being present at the scene.

She felt a small tug at her heart, at the fact that her sister had managed to protect, and evoke fear in the person who had hurt her the most.

Sameer looked back at her, a half smirk on his face, as his eyes now kept flickering over to Anjali.

"Ridhima. Babe you boyfr-" Ridhima cut off Sameer by stepping up and slapping him across the face.

The sound of the slap seemed to resound around the balcony, and she felt the stinging in her palm where she had made contact with his cheek.

Sameer's head had been pushed to the side, and a read handprint was slowly emerging on his face. She could see as Sameer's ears turned red in embarrassment, and the smirk that he had been wearing all night had been completely wiped off his face.

She could feel the adrenalin pumping through her veins at finally having done something she should have done a long time ago. Her palm was turning itch due to the stinginess from the slap, but Ridhima ignored it.

She continued to glare at Sameer, her breath quickening at having released a bit of the anger.

Sameer looked back at her, baffled, and Ridhima narrowed her eyes at him.

"How dare you?" Ridhima whispered, stepping closer to him, till they were a few inches away from each other. Sameer looked at her hesitantly, taking a small step back, as a hand came to rest on his face.

"How dare you show up here, talk to me, insult me after everything you have done. HOW DARE YOU?" Ridhima screamed, her eyes blazing with fury,a s she grabbed a hold of his collar and shook him.

She wanted to shout, hit, scream. She wanted to humiliate him the way he had humiliated her all those years ago. She wanted to reverse time and not have her heart broken by him again.

She wanted to scream at him for making her trust him, she wanted to hit him for laying a hand on her, she wanted to shout at him for not loving her the way she loved him.

Sameer remained quiet, speechless by how Ridhima was behaving. Everyone around her had gone quiet, but Ridhima's anger had not dissipated as of yet.

"I trusted you. I had loved you. You took advantage of me, humiliated me in front of everyone. Yet you stand in front of me like you have done nothing wrong. How could you? Ridhima asked, shaking him a few more times.

"I have never hated anyone as much as I hated you. I hated myself for what you did to me. Yet you stand as though you did nothing wrong." Ridhima hissed at him, still glaring at him. Sameer had dropped his gaze from hers, looking down at the floor.

"What? Can't look at me now? What happend that day huh?" Ridhima shook him some more. Sameer however continued to look at the ground.

"You know what Sameer? You are pathetic. I am glad I met someone like you, because now I know the lowest a man can drop. A man who can humiliate a girl in front of the whole college, get her to love him, seek only physical intimacy with her, break her heart, rub it in her face, make every day of hers a living hell, and then show up and act like nothing is wrong? I don't think even God can forgive you. I will never forgive you. Ever. You will never be happy Sameer. Someone who steals others' happiness, can never find happiness in his own life." Ridhima said, finally letting him go, and taking a few steps back.

"I pity you Sameer." Ridhima spat at him. Sameer finally looked up and cocked an eyebrow.

"Done with the bhashan?" Sameer sneered, and Ridhima shook her head in disbelief and disgust.

"No" Anjali said, and stepped up to Sameer, pulled her arm back and punched him in the nose.

"That's for what you did to my sister. Something I should have done ages ago!" Anjali shouted, as Sameer clutched his bleeding nose.

"Jesus! f**k! You are crazy!" Sameer shouted, as he hunched over, still holding on to his nose.

Atul shook his head in amusement, stepped forward, clapped Sameer hard on the back, almost sending him to the floor.

"Bete they might be crazy, but both the sisters have got a hell of a right hook. If i was you, I'd stay away from both of them." Atul said, pulling Sameer up by his jacket's collar and pushing him to the entrance of the balcony.

"Harass them again, and I'll show you what my right hook can do" Atul said, with a wink at Sameer, before he turned back around to join the rest of the gang.

Ridhima closed her eyes and let out a sigh.

She had finally let it all out, and she felt so much better. She had to talk to Armaan. Sort out whatever misunderstanding had happened.

She had been afraid to open her heart before. But after tonight, she was ready. She wanted to be with Armaan.

But when she opened her eyes once more, her eyes scanned the crowd, and saw Armaan was no longer standing by the side. He had left.

So here is the next part! From Ridzi's POV. I know this is dragging on a bit, but I promise, this story is slowly coming to an end. We are 3/4 there :)

Please, please like/comment. It only takes a tiny, tiny bit of your time, but it makes my day. And it results in faster updates 😉
