Part 48

Uncle left to go to work but i stayed there, staring outside. Thinking of the future and what would happen in it. A while later,i heard footsteps behind me.The,a hand was placed on my shoulder,Maan's hand.Without even looking,i knew it was his hand.He turned me around to face him and looked at me.He gazed into my eyes for an immeasureable moment and i don't know what he saw there,in my eyes but it disturbed him,I could see that much in HIS eyes.

Maan:Geet!

He spoke and his voice was full of pain and confusion.Why? What were my eyes telling him?

Geet:Yes?

Maan:Are you ok?

Geet:Sure why?

Maan:youre worried about something and scared aswell.Tell me what it is.You don't have to hide anything from me.

Geet:I...I just...

I ran my hand through my hair in frustration,confused on how to phrase this,how to say it to him.I didn't want to hurt his feelings.He held my hand and squeezed it,offering me support,telling me silently that he was always there for me,Making me feel even more guilty.

Geet:Im just a bit nervous.

Maan was shocked,I could tell.Whatever he'd been expecting me to say,It wasn't this.

Maan:About what?

Geet:Things.

Maan:Geett!!!

He said my name,pleading me to tell him,he needed to know.

Geet:Basically,i don't know if i can fulfil the responsibilities i need to.Geet Handa can But Can geet Khurana? I don't know!

Maan:But why are you nervous?

Geet: Do i really have to tell you why i'm nervous? Cos i wont be able to say it! Its too hard.

I faced away from him,hiding my face so he wouldn't be able to see my expression,i didn't even know what my face was showing myself.

Maan:You can tell me anything.I wont laugh or say anything but i'll understand and sympathise with you.You'll feel better.

Geet:I...Im.... I cant do this.Lets play a game.You have to guess.

Maan:Ok?

Geet:I'll sing songs and you guess what im trying to say.So first,'Halka Halka Sa Gumaa Hai,Jaane Kya MujheHua Hai...'

Maan:Anjana Anjani? And Youre nervous or worried? But about what?

Geet:Listen'Merey haaton me naun naun Chooriyan hai...'

I stopped and looked at him meaningfully,telling him to listen to the next part.

Geet:Tora tehro sajan majbooriyan hai.

This was what shed been trying to say? And i couldn't understand.Of course shed be nervous about this,Every girl was.Everything finally clicked into place.But she didn't have to worry,Id support her and she'd forget all her fears.

Maan:Youre nervous about THAT.

Geet:Hmmm...

He turned me around to face him and stroked my cheek.I rested my head against his chest,Maybe it would be easier if i didn't have to look at him.

Maan:Dont worry at all about that.Im in no hurry.I understand youre nervousness.Its natural,Instictive for a girl to go through this before marriage.All these feelings;Confusion,Nervousness,Doubt,Worry.Afterall,You have to accept a new family,Fit in with them whilst adjusting to the new relationship you now share with your husband.It takes time and i don't want you to have to change yourself at all for me and i don't want you to be forced into anything,i want you to be ready,to want it yourself.And anyway....,

He paused and i looked at him.He was smirking,the power of his smirk still worked wonders on me.I smiled back.

Geet:Anyway what?

Maan:Youre mine,We have all our life.So whats the hurry? We can do it not once but millions of times when youre ready.

I smiled but blushed at the same timeHe had solved my problem in a minute,The problem that had kept me awake all night.He was a life saver,An angel,MY angel.

Meera:Geet!! Maan!!! Where are you both? Come and eat!!!

Geet:Come on.

I held his hand and we took our places at the table.I was smiling,Not sad like this morning!! What a difference 2 hours could make!

Uncle:So your problems solved,Geet?

Geet:Yes,I just needed some help and it disappeared in a second.

Uncle:Good,Now Smile!!!!Its your last day in this house as Geet Handa,Your last day of living a free life.

Geet:I was never free.How could you say i was free when This idiot Meera was controlling my life?

Meera:Without me,You would have never met each other,Maan,let me warn you!! Youve still got time,Run away whilst you can!!!

Maan:Not possible!! A person cant live without their heart can they?

Uncle:Ohhhh!!!! Wah!!! You turned out quite romantic,Bete!

Maan:Thats MSK'S charm,You never know whats going to happen next!!!!

I laughed and squeezed his hand.I would enjoy my last day as Geet Handa,No matter what Meera did.I would smile.Geet Handa should be defined as that:Happiness!
