Yup our Maan is a conniving one, but as they say never count on plans as tings never go according to plan. You just have to wait for the next parts to see what I am hinting at.

Hello lovely Maaneetians,

Here is the next part in the FF.

Part 7

Geet woke up, the day had finally come for her to cut her child loose from herself. September 4th had come so quick, the last few months had passed by so fast that just thinking about them made her head spin.

Today was Labor day, a public holiday, the day to celebrate workers(at least what was the reason it was created), the day people came together and celebrated the end of summer, the day that marked the beginning of NFL and College football seasons, and today was also the day that she dropped off her daughter at Harvard.

They had already packed everything that Geeta would need for her first semester at Harvard last night and Geet being crazy had packed some more stuff. Geeta had protested and after trying to reason with her mom a few more times asked Pinky Masi for help. Pinky had taken Geeta aside and told her not to worry, if the stuff didn't fit they would just bring it back to NYC and that she should just go along with her mom's craziness, just this once."No harm, no foul"Pinky had said.

Pinky had arrived a week earlier and had helped Geet out with the packing and with all the emotional stuff. Kate and Devi had come by to supported Geet throughout the week too. Geet wondered how she would have managed without them. Anytime she remembered that she had forgotten something important that Geeta would need, one of them had rushed out and bought it. They hadn't left her alone, well only to use the little girls room, but they had been there for her through this week. They were aware of the past- the attempt on her life, her moving to a new city, being separated from her true love, moving to a new country and now she was going to be separated from the sole reason she existed.

At 9am she woke Pinky,"Pinky uth, subhe hogayi hain, uth na."

Pinky, "Geet mein uth rahi hoon, kuch kam hain to keh de, nahi ho to mein teyar ho jati hoo."

Geet told her there was no work nothing that needed to be done so she should get ready. In the meantime Geet would make some breakfast.

Pinky was ready by 9:30am. She went downstairs and saw Geet going crazy over something, she could hear Geet giving someone or something an ear-full of Punjabi gallies. Even a grown man would have felt 'sharam' hearing her words. Even after 18 years Geet hadn't forgotten how to give gallies.

She remembered the first time Geet had given Maan gallies and how she had suffered for it later on realizing that she had cursed Maan not some lover boy who was troubling her over the phone. That memory made her smile, she stopped and asked Geet what was wrong.

Geet replied, "Jeep ki chabiya nahi mil rahi"

Pinky started to laugh and Geet got even angrier and now Pinky found herself receiving Geet's gallies. Pinky stopped laughing and pointed to Geet's right hand. Since Geet was left handed she had been shifting through all the stuff with her left hand totally ignoring her right hand in which she was holding the keys all this time.

Realizing the keys had been with her the whole time, Geet started to cry, her was trying to be strong for Geeta and had failed, she couldn't take it anymore. Pinky hugged her and let her cry until she had no more tears. By the time Geet was ok, it was already 10:30am.

Geet went to wake Geeta up, she took extra care today, absorbed every tiny thing about her daughter, how she slept, how she opened her eyes, how she stretched, she didn't miss anything. She put her hand on Geeta head and stroked her hair. She then mustered all the courage she had and woke her baby up.

"Meera pyara baccha, its time to get up" she said gently.

"Mamma let me sleep, its still early, we don't have to be there until later" Geeta said still half asleep.

"Well beta, if it were up to me I would let you sleep all day and not let you go at all but it is already 10:30am and if we don't leave in an hour you wont be able to register today, you know it is a 4 hour drive from here on a good day, and since it is a long weekend we don't want to take chances do we?" Geet calmly asked.

"No we don't" Geeta replied getting up. She went and got ready and in about 45 minutes she was downstairs in the kitchen.

All the stuff had already been placed in the Jeep and all the 4 women who were going to drop her off were waiting for her. They all surrounded her as she ate her breakfast. If she didn't know them, she would have felt like an animal at the Zoo being observed during meal time. However, she knew she was their life and she didn't really mind being showered all this love. It had actually been handy in the past to be loved so much, when she was little she had taken full advantage of their love, she was able to get all the toys she wanted all she had to do was know which one of them to approach. Of course now she was grown up so she went to them for other things but the formula was still the same.

They left at 12pm sharp, Geet, Pinky and Geeta in the Jeep and Kate and Devi in Devi's rental Mustang. Devi and Kate wanted to make sure they didn't blend in with all the sad parents who were dropping their kids off. They were dropping off their niece and they were going to do it in style.

As they got on the Brooklyn Bridge to get out of Manhattan, Geeta felt a twinge of sadness, she was leaving this beautiful city and her amazing mom for the first time. She did not reminisce on that too much and started talking about what she wanted to do and what building she wanted to dorm in.

They pulled up at Harvard not knowing where the 4 hours had passed. The followed the signs for Freshmen check in and finally parked the Jeep. Kate and Devi were right behind them and they too luckily found a parking spot not too far away.

Geet and Geeta went and dealt with the paperwork while the other three waited. Finally they saw them come with the keys to Geeta's new dwelling. She was in Room 301 in Canaday Hall. She was excited and told them various facts about Canaday Hall like when seen from above Canaday Hall's seven buildings look like a question mark; she went on and on about how her dorm was close to some of the most important buildings on campus like the science center. She would have continued if it were not for Geet telling her to stop talking and start working. They moved all her stuff into her room and were glad that she had gotten there before her roommate so that she could pick the bed she liked.

Dear Mahi,
were there ever any doubts that Geet would be a bad mother, I just thought it was funny that Geeta thought she looked like an animal being observed at feeding time.

also Not Maan in traffic, Mr. Mehra's son in traffic, dear. That is why it is called a spoiler, you don't really know what is going to happen. 😆 😆 (Evil laugh)

Thanks for liking the update, yeah they are too sweet, you don't see that kinda bonding in real life often, but this is fiction so we can do anything.

Poor Maan is not stuck in traffic, it is Mr. Mehra's son who is stuck in traffic. See that is why it is called a spoiler, it never really tells you what is going to happen and keeps you wondering. Evil genius at work here 😉
