@ThePirateKing - I said Karna did not care about the outcome of the war, not the state of the war. Karna concentrated more on what he was doing there, without caring the ultimate result, is what I meant. I don't know minute details of battles of others. I think Bheeshma fought for Kauravas bevause he had given a promise to Dury. No idea when & why, but Bheeshma mentions a promise that he already had given to Dury, in Udyoga parva. Bheeshma was the one who never acted against his promise. Remember his words in Adi Parva - I shall abandon three worlds and kingdom of gods, but never truth, in any way. That could be why Dury appointed Bheeshma as the commander; Bheeshma never mixed his feelings with his duty. He never told he would not kill Ps. He told he would continue slaying them till he got killed.
@Sanz - jyeshthest was around 32 when Draupadi got married.
@Anu - I remember you already told me that. But his presence there is surprising. And Karna chose Arjuna because he was basically an archer & only Arjuna was the P side archeer equal to him. That also was according to battle rules, I think.
@ashne - Karna's no son accompanied him in Draupadi swayamvara. It is not there in KMG & CE. In KMG, Karna was a participant & in CE, he only accompanied Dury.

Arjuna had no problem in accepting Karna's duel challenge. But after rangabhoomi event, he did not get a chance. In KK war, he could not do it till day 15 as he was always kept away from Karna by Krishna till Karna lost Vasavi Shakti. On day 15, Drona got killed & Arjuna was behind vengeful Ashwathama & Narayana astra. On 16th day, when Karna took Vijaya (he used that bow only twice in his life AFAIK) & shot Bhargavastra, Arjuna told Krishna that it was impossible to stop Bhargavastra & Krishna takes Arjuna away making the excuse of visiting Yudhishthira who was in stress. The next day, they did a duel & Arjuna killed Karna, is what happened IIRC.

Actually I feel bad for Dury in this case.None of the main warriors from his side were fighting the war with a fully determined mind.Be it Bhishma Drona or Karna.Bhishma and Drona were inclined towards the Ps from the begining and Karna too developed a soft corner for them after the revel
ation. They all fought the war because it was their duty towards the King and the kingdom.
And as for KaJu I dont think orijinal Ka was as obsessed with Ju as his soapy versions.I think the only time Ka invites Ju for a duel was Rangbhoomi. Please correct me if I am wrong.Dury considered him as an equal opponent to Arjun. And I guess the promise to Kunti excluding Arjun was his way of doing justice both to Dury and his bio mom

@sanskruti I have not seen Karna, son mentioned in KMG. But I think mrityunjaya mentions him accompanying and also getting killed. I believe it's an interpolation because honestly there has to be some expression of grief if your son dies

But almost all versions mention pradyumna being present along with Krishna.
That I am not able to understand, can anybody clarify. Also pradyumna is married to maya when he returns to Krishna so he has to be ateast in his 20s

Krishna and Arjun are of the same age and Arjuna is at most 30 (14+13+3) ( in forest+with drona+yudhi coronation, jatugriha, rakshasavrat, ekchakr a)

So if Krishna is 30 and pradyumna in 20s so was he born when Krishna was 10 even for a god, that's weird.

Also rukmini was childless for a while hence Krishna had to do penance for 9 years to shiva. So Krishna if he got married when he was 20 pradyumna could not be born till he was 30. How can just born child attend swayamvar

And samba is younger than pradyumna how could he,,,,, the timelines are totally wrong even for a god

U are probably referring to Sudaman who is there in Shivaji Sawant's novel...There is no mention of Sudaman in either KMG at Draupadi's Swamvar or CE(where Karna is not mentioned at all)...he is probably a creation of the author or some folktake...not sure...
Jamy can help... šŸ˜›

I think this thing is debatable...We can believe watever we want...
But since Karna's name is there separately, I have a feeling that he was a Baraati...
Besides...I really have a doubt that has been bothering me...
If Caste was such sa big deal then n Karna was certainly a learned man(trained by none other than Parshuram)...was he not aware of the concepts of Anuloma n Pratiloma marriages?
I am not very learned myself about this whole concept...but it really confuses me...y did Karna participate in the first place? Especially, after the Rangbhoomi debacle, he must have realized the evil impact of it...
Drupad had invited many, many kings...many of whom did not participate at all...

So y did Karna participate in the first place, having prior experience of insult due to caste?
And I cannot believe the Southern versions that a warrior like Karna could not hit the target!!

I find it more logical that Karna did not participate at all...bcoz I am sure he was learned enough to know about the concepts of marriages n intelligent enough to ancipate from his past experiences...

Experts...pls share ur views...

Another question...
I had read in one of the previous posts that Karna was 16 yrs older than Yudisthir...
Then it he was in his thirtees then, Yudisthir was around 20...
Then how old was Arjun during Draupadi's Swamvar? 16... šŸ˜•

And how old was Draupadi? 12? šŸ˜•

Totally totally confused... šŸ˜•
Someone pls help... šŸ˜†
