Janhvi Kapoor’s recent exit from Dharma Cornerstone Artist Agency has once again highlighted the shifting dynamics of talent management in Bollywood. The actor has moved to another agency, adding to a growing list of stars changing representation in recent years.

Actors like Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra have also made similar moves, signalling how fluid these professional ties have become. The trend reflects a larger shift in how actors approach their careers and public image.

Karan Johar shared these views in a conversation with Hindustan Times. The filmmaker explained why many actors today choose to switch teams more frequently, pointing to the growing pressure from social media and constant public scrutiny. “The way I look at it is that I believe that social media, technology, and the constant noise around us make us very restless, very anxious, nervous. So we are dealing with an anxiety-ridden, anxious generation who want the validation of stardom very fast, and I don’t blame them because they are judged on a daily basis,” he said.

Karan added that the continuous judgment faced by actors can impact their mental health. “The daily judgment that exists and surrounds this generation is exhausting and affects your mental health and state of mind… I don’t blame any of them for making the kind of decisions they make,” he noted.

He also admitted that such pressures make him rethink whether he would want his children to enter the industry. “So which is why, if you ask me, do I want my children to get into this profession, I can’t give you a resounding yes because I know how tough it is,” he said.

Despite frequent exits and entries, Johar maintained that talent management remains a strong part of his company. “As far as talent management goes, it’s a very lucrative business for us… it is a case of constantly moving parts,” he explained.

At the same time, Johar made it clear that as a production house, he would give preference to his own roster. He said he would still cast actors based on suitability, but added that he will “prioritise our talent” as part of the company’s ecosystem.
