Baldev wore a dark purple kurta stopping himself at the last moment from wearing the pristine white kurta that was kept ready by his mother..

As he buttoned it up,the sound of drums outside made his heart beat fast in excitement,and he got ready to run and take part in the holi festivals..But then he stopped himself,when he remembered he had told Veera he did not want to play this time..

He sighed and looked out through his window,wondering once again why he had said that..Was he truly no interested or was it that..Was it that he just wanted to play it with Veera only..?

The thought made him frown,as somewhere at the back of his mind he knew that the reality might be just that..

But somehow he wanted Veera to come after him this time..Maybe that's why the lie..

He sighed out loud,and turned to get out..He could not hide in his room all day..

As soon as he reached the hall,his mother came running with a plate of colours..A bright smile on her face..

"O puttar holi mubaraka!"

She was about to smear some red color onto his face,but Baldev moved away..

"O renne do Beeji!Mainu koi rang wang nai lagana iss vaar!

[Oh let it be Beeji!I don't want to put on any colors this time!]"

His words had his mother' jaw hanging open in surprise,and her eyes almost bulged out.

"Ae ki gaal kardi tune puttar?!Tere tabyat to thik hai na?!Kahi bukhar wukhar char to nai gaya tainu?!

[What did you just say son?!Are you alright?!do you have fever or something?!]"Bansuri,his mother,tried to take his temperature,but Baldev puhsed her hand away,out of the way,surprising her even more..

"Chaddo Beeji!Main bilkul thik hun!Aap na baas mainu akela chaddh dijiye!

[Leave it Beeji!I am perfectly alright!You just leave me alone!]"He said in an irritated voice and strode out,leaving his shocked mother standing alone,with her mouth still hanging open in surprise.

Baldev avoided the crowds of people smearing colors on each other on the streets..

His friends Balli and Jaggi were not around..Had they taken to hiding as he had scolded them yesterday for playing that song prank on him..?

His face colored up,when he remembered how he had behaved on seeing Veera yesterday..

He had behaved like a mesmerized stupid fool jst at the sight of her,and the song Balli and Jaggi had turned on,had made his heart sing out too..

But today he would be careful..He would make sure she seeked him out,and not the other way round..

Even as he thought it,his eyes looked for her amidst the crowd of holimakers..

He reached the fields were everyone was playing holi..Almost the entire village was here today..All in white dresses..

At a corner Bhaang leaves were being smashed and the famous thandaii was being made,and Baldev controlled the temptation of having it..

Every time in holi,Baldev is the only one who enjoys the most..But this time for Veera he is-..

"Tere liye aur ki ki karna parega mainu Veera?!

[What else do I have to do for you Veera?!]"He muttered to himself,as he squinted at the bright sunlight looking for a tress for her..

The whole field was filled with people smudged in colors,and laughing and having thandai,and applying color on each other..

Baldev had just rounded a corner,his eyes still searching for a trace of her,when a pair of soft hands smeared colour onto his cheeks from behind..

"HOLI MUBARAKA!!!"A very familiar voice screamed out from behind her followed by musical laughter,that got his hear soaring already..

He raised his hands to touch hers lightly,as she smeared the color on his face,and with a naughty satisfied smile,he pulled her in front of him..

But Veera never saw the smile,a by the time he had pulled her he had changed his expression to one of irritation and mock anger..

He took in her look,before he spoke up..His heart soaring some more with happiness..She was dressed in white shalwar kameez,her white dupatta round her neck,and her eyes kohl rimmed and beautiful as ever..And her thick long beautiful hair were also open like always..

He was again getting mesmerized so he quickly put on his best angry look..

"Veera!Maine bataya tha na tainu ki mainu rang pasand nai-..

[Veera!Didn't I tell you that I don't like colors-.."

"To aab se pasand karle..!Kiu ki mainu to bauhot pasand hai!

[So start liking it from now on..!Because I like it a lot!]"She said in a naughty voice,and her smile made his heart skip a beat,as he tried to keep his angry look on..

Saying this she twisted her hand free,forcefully smeared some more colours on his face,making him completely colored in red,and blinded for a few seconds,and turned to run away..

Baldev ran after her,and while trying to get hold of her,they both slipped and rolled,so that Veera was now lying on top of Baldev,on the hard color stained ground..

Music seemed to sway from out of nowhere..

As they stared into each other's eyes..Their face close to each other..Their breathing heavy..Wind swayed Veera's long open tresses,and Baldev slowly tucked some behind her ear..

Someone threw a plate of full colours nearby..And breeze made the powdered colours fall like rainbow on both of them lying on the ground,lost in each other's eyes..

He found her and caught her by her wrist,and before she could twist her hand free again,he pulled her behind a tree..Away from everyone's view..

She was breathing heavily,as he came closer..Both her hands trapped in his by both sides of her head against the tree trunk.

His eyes spoke a thousand words to her wide ones..As he went closer and closer..

He placed his cheek alongside hers and smeared the red colour off his face onto hers,by brushing his rough cheeks against both of hers.The red colour from his face was now smeared on hers too..And they were both out of breath..

He slowly lowered his head and smudged her forehead with his too..Not noticing he had just colored her maang too,with the red color..And then nuzzled her cute tiny nose with his..Smearing the red colour there too..

Sudddenly out of nowhere rain started falling dripping them and also everyone wet..And still they stared on into each other's eyes..Water dripping down their faces..

Veera tried to twist free and move away.. Baldev pulled her back,so that her back bumped against his hard chest..

He turned her around,and showed how her dupatta was stuck on his bracelet..

He slowly pulled it free and covered her head with the dupatta,making her blush slightly..

He touched the colours she had smeared on his face,and sighed happily,leaning back against the tree trunk..

It had stopped raining and he was still standing in the same place,when his friends Balli and Jaggi both looking like ghosts,one blue and one purple colored approached him..

"Praji aap iththe ho!Humne to appka kaam asaan kardi!Jaldi jaiye,isse pehle ki koi aur aake mauke ka faidaa uthale..

[Praji you are here!We have made your work easier!Go on fast,before someone else takes advantage of the situation..]"Jaggi said,and exchanged a smile with Balli,as they both were grinning from ear to ear..

Baldev frowned and stood straight..

"Ki gaal kar rahe ho kharboojo?Ki kia tum dono ne..?

[What are you talking about?What have you two done..?"

"Praji humne na Parjaiji ko laddu khila di..

[Praji we have fed laddu to parjaiji..]"

"To ki hua..?

[So what happened..?]"

"Aap samjhe nahi Praji..Bhaang wale laddu..!Aur parjaiji to khaate khaate pure box hi haat mein lekar gaye..!Pata nai aab ak kitne laddoo kha liye honge..

[You didn't get it Praji..The laddu had bhang in it..!And parjaiji took the entire box with her while she ate from it..!Who knows how many laddus she has consumed already..]"

Baldev felt he was just struck buy thunder,and angrily he pulled both of them by their collar with his both hands..His face a mask of anger and worry..

"KI?!!GADHO!!!Ye kya kia tum dono ne?!Inni ghaatiya kaam karne se pehle mainu bataya kiu nai?!Dimaag to hai nai koi kaam ki tum dono ki paas,to bin bataye aise kaam kiu kardiya?!!

[WHAT?!!STUPIDS!!What have you two done?!!Why didn't you tell me before doing such a disgusting act?!You both have a useless brain,so why did you do such a stupid act without letting me know?!!]"

"Praji hum to aap nu kaal hi batane wale the..Par aap hi nahi sune-..

[Praji we were both trying to tell you yesterday..But you did not listen-..]"

"Kis taraf gai wo..?Jaldi bata mainu!

[Which way did she go..?Tell me quickly!]"

"Kaun Praji..?

"ARREY GADHA, MERI VEERA!AUR KAUN?!!

[UFF STUPID ,MY VEERA!WHO ELSE?!!]"He hissed out angrily almost hitting Jaggi in his impatience..

Balli quickly pointed the direction and Baldev ran that way..

His heart thudding like a maddened thing in worry and fear for her..

Oh my goodness Tehsina...I love this update! I've only seen holi in movies too...and your take is more romantic than that...my favourite part, which I pictured perfectly, LOL...was this one:
