Hello,
Don't blame you, Sush..don't blame you at all...!
Was so freaking mad last night..! I didn't sign up to watch a cookery show or one on 'Good Wives' ( no, I don't mean the Louisa .M.Alcott one..just borrowing her title to use as a phrase). There's Khana Khazana for the first and the entire gamut of saas-bahu shows that are hell bent on teaching us sanskaars for the second!
There were only two moments in the whole episode that I actually liked! One serious LoL moment was when Kunwar chachi wondered what the poor would eat since they were eating their food! Actually, the joke is lost in translation but that woman cracks me up at times! As much as she is irritating at others!
The second was the expression on Rana ji's face when Gayathri asked him how he liked the food, prefixing or was it suffixing that dreaded 'Ji! And then his grudging approval! That was cute!
That 'Ji' is so unroyal, Sush! Just not cool! I just hate it when she says it! Am sure Rana ji does it too secretly. Someday, once they are reconciled and all, hope he tells her to stop calling him that! He could teach her to call him 'Honey' maybe π Since it was made patently obvious to us that Gayathri is such a gawar that half the conversation at the table flies well over her head, unless it is about jeere ka tadka!
Yes, I liked the last outburst over how she had cost them the tax! It was done nicely!
But I am not able to understand characterization now! It is as if the dining table outburst never happened!
Rana ji is back to his pre SR mode, when he smiled in benign approval of her anti British stance. On Gayathri, I would rather not say frankly!
Chick, what did I tell you about the over-the- top? We saw that on ample display yesterday!
Agree with you on Laksh, Chick...the guy seems a good actor...he can do better than be embarrassed by his parents openly canoodling in his presence!
Even Rajmata was being the all approving mother-in-law, but I still get her. She is still desperately trying to sell the bahu to her son. Aakhir, pote ki muh jo deknhi hai!
Liked that part about foreign liquor and how they were adding to the British coffers. Nice touch that and just what would appeal to Rana ji! No wonder the man was smiling as he walked off! Got to give him that! However much he may dislike Gayathri, he does not put her down when she makes sense!
Again the only dialogue that I liked in the jeere ka tadka' scene was Ranaji's on being a soldier and not being able to afford the luxury of fussing over food!
The entire scene could have focused on how the food was being wasted and dumped, how she was trying to organize for its distribution to the needy, how they would have to adopt certain austerity measures in solidarity with their people and so on! She would have sounded like a Queen instead of like Sanjeev Kapoor or worse, Gopi or Akshara bahu!
If this trend continues, really wonder how long I will stick around!
P.S- I guess you are talking of the BFF and her last show, Chick?!
