Rana was harsh on his punishment although he did check the details that can prove Kunwar chacha wrong . Before the punishment he tells Gayatri he loves her , next day the servant comes with the set of clothes Gayatri will wear and she continues to remove her royal jewelry accepting the punishment

Read all the chapters in 1 go...
Really good. Heart wrenching, the punishment part.

However, I'm wondering what happened to the maid servant whose hand was bruised in the 1st chapter.

Maybe, Gayatri might uncover the illegal going on at the servants quarters...That would be super good to read...

Chapter 4

Gayatri seemed to have vanished off the face of the earth for Ranaji once he had announced the punishment but that of course was the nature of the terms he had put forward for her. She wasn't to make herself known to any of the Deo family without good reason and she was doing just that. That one glance at her dresser of an upset Gayatri was the last Indravarden had seen of his wife for 3 days now.

He seemed to search for his Gayatri in every maid servant that walked past or confronted him. It was driving him insane, peering through the veil of a female servants saari was definitely not a very royal way to behave but he couldn't keep himself. The thought of his wife hurting haunted Rana he thought of her constantly these days even his routine sword fighting practice lacked conviction he gave in in half of the time he would normally have committed to the sport. A queen was supposed to be the strength of a king but here she was becoming his weakness and one could not concentrate when as disturbed as he was. Putting his sword down in a plate held out by a maid Rana notices something distinctive about the lady. The bangle she wore was the very one he had gifted Rani Gayatri.

He couldn't see beneath the ladies orange ghoongat but all signs seemed to look like it was his wife. The physic the skin tone of the hands.

He was sure that he wanted to see the ladies face.

"Apna ghoongat hataye .."(Remove your veil) It was something Rana Indravarden would never say to any lady but love did strange things to a person.

There was quite a pause and the King repeated himself twice before his intstructions were obeyed. The veil was removed and the lady behind it was not Gayatri imagine the kind of strike to the heart that was felt by Rana in that moment. Yet she wore his wifes kangan?

"Yey kangan aap ko kaha se mila ?" ("Where did you get that bangle from?")

The woman carefully responded aware she was speaking to her king. "Maha rani ne diya hukum." ("The queen your highness")

In his eyes that meant Gayatri was found of this lady, she was trust worthy.

Aap kuch khaaz lagti hogi unki.. ("You must mean something important to her") hamari rani ka khyal rakhyey ga aur unki khabar bhi ham aap se le na pasand karenge

(I ask you to look after my queen and also keep me up to date with news of her. )

The maid obeying to Ranas wishes leaves at his dismissal but Raj mehel always had numerous ears.

Rani ma's voice was an apparent witness to the goings on.

"Aap ka bas chale toh aap saari dasiyon se apna ghungat hatva kar rahkenge maharaj lekin yey ek raja ko shaubha nahin deta. Ranaji aap ne socha bhi ke us sevkia par kya beeti hogi.. kitni daari thi woh."

(If it were up to you ranaji you would have every maid get rid of the veil but that's not a very royal thing to do did you even notice how scared that maid was?! )

She was his mother and she was correct however Ranaji had his own say in the matter.

Praja apne raja se nahin dar ti rani ma, hah kuch aise log hai joh raja ke naam par praja ko darane ka kaam kar rahin hai yey hamse chupa nahin hai.

(My people do not fear me ranima but I am aware that there are those who are using the pretext of the king to kinder fear in hearts of my people.)

Leaving Rani ma to think on the matter Rana casually strolls away putting an end to the conversation.

... Later on in the day...

There was no stopping Seth Govind as he stormed past all royal guards and into ranaji's chambers at the Raj Mehel. Even though his wife had made him promise he would remain calm in the palace grounds he couldn't.

Gayatri's mother stood behind her husband wary of the fact that they were in the palace before the King and this was no way to behave in front of a man who ruled their life's.

Ranajis eyes welcomed his wifes parents. His father in law as expected looked severely unhappy whilst his mother-law looked very frightened and apologized at once. She seemed to only wish for one thing.

"Kya ham gayatri se mil sakte hai Ranaji?" (Can I see Gayatri your highness?)

One of the kings men showed Damyanti the way straight away on Ranaji's command. As soon as the room was vacant of Damyanti sethji waited no further getting straight to the point.

...

Gayatri's mother was led through corridors and rooms until she finally came to face with her daughter who was dusting one of the rooms of the raj mehel in maid uniform.

She never imagined to see her daughter this way, her eyes showed dismay but also a sense of relief of laying eyes on Gayatri.

"Gayatri" -- Gayatri was shaken from her task, a part of her happy to hear her mothers voice but another very conscious of the situation. Hiding what she knew would upset her mother. "Maa ..aap?, Woh shaahi kamre mein kuch syaadha hein dhur lag gayi thi toh ham." (mom!?, the royal suites were getting a little dusty so I was just... )

She couldn't lie to her mother that was for sure. She knew all and her mothers embrace was all Gayatri needed at this moment in time.

...

On the other hand Rana was being challenged by Seth Govind the father of wronged daughter but Indravarden calm and collective response baffled Seth Govind.

...

They spoke for some time. Damyanti could see the void in Gayatris eyes as she sat beside her perched on the bed of a royal suit her daughter was cleaning, she was hurt but like a mother she too had given her daughter an ear full for handling things the way she had done but like a mother she was quick to forgive her daughters mistake but couldn't believe the severity of Rana's punishment. "Woh joh chahe kar sakte hai maa woh Amerkot ke maharaj hai"

("He can do as he pleases ma he's the King of Amerkot.")

A strong distinct voice sounded from a distance and a pair of smiling eyes from beneath some spectacles looked towards Gayatri.

"Aur tume yaad rakhna hai chutkaniya ke tum Amerkot ki maharani ho .." (and you're to keep in mind that you are the Queen of Amerkot angel. )

Govind Seth's love for his daughter was the only thing that came out of their interaction, he didn't mention anything other than being pleased to see Gayatri.

Damyanti noticed the calm in her husband, whatever conversation he had with Ranaji seemed to have gone well. There was no upset no anger nothing. Govind Seth seemed to know something that had taken off a huge distress off his shoulders.

...

Gayatris reunion with her parents had given her a new lease of life although her anger and general feeling for her husband was still very scattered, confused & hurt

...

As rana returns to the haveli after a day of helping rural famers homes in Amerkot he shrugs his feet out of his shoes and takes a much needed seat. Before he could even put mind to matter stood at the entrance of his room was Swarnlekha carrying a glass of water in a stray as ever accompanied by a smile.

Aap . rani bhabhi? Aap ne kyun takleef ki .. ("Swarnlekha? Why go to the trouble?".)

"Kyun ke jaab tak Rani Gayatri yaha nahin hai tab tak kisi ko toh aap ka khyal hona chahiyey naa Rana bhai sa." (Because someone has to look out for you whilst Rani Gayatri is away. )

Like always she spoke with a smile and he thanked for the gesture.

She asked him about his day to be polite & she was the only person Rana noticed that didn't judge him on his choice for Gayatri or was polite enough to keep her opinions to herself anyway.

Jaanti hai aap ham kabhi kabhi soch te hai ke agar ham rana nahin hote toh syaada khush hote majboorun aise failse nahin lene padte joh hame pasand na ho. ("You know I sometimes feel I would have been better of a norm then a king at least I would not have been forced to make certain choices that I dislike". )

She understood that and always thought of herself lucky enough to be a person the King could confide in that way.

...

Gayatri walked along Raj Mehel corridors in the evening going about her jobs careful to keep herself to herself behind her saari there was still a lot going on in her mind but as she walked past the Kings chambers no matter how she felt about him in this time her heart was still drawn to him. His room & the possibility of his presence and as she stood at some distance she watched a maid enter Ranas room.

Stepping that little closer to the doors of the room so her husband could be visible to her she watches the lady enter his chambers where he is sat back in bed reading what looks like paperwork, work is what he did when he felt restless and as the maid approaches and begins pressing his legs. It was a traditional service for the king and most certainly also Swarnlekhas doing after knowing her bhai sa had been on his feet all day. Gayatri watches as ever her husband is too modest to accept the treatment and refuses. With a very royal yet considerate tone of voice he free's the maid of her task. "Is ki koi sarurat nahin hai, aap jaa sakti hai" (there's no need, you may leave.)

A few minutes later as Rana lifts his gaze there still seems to be a lady at the end of the bed carrying out the task he had excused her of but something felt seemingly more familiar.
