Chapter 8

"Your one sided love toward Kalpana made you beast, Sammy mumbled to himself. Then Sammy came outside taking two guards along with him. He saw Prem laying on the ground with pool of blood.

Sammy: enough

Hearing Sammy shouted guards stopped to beat Prem. Then he ordered two guards he brought along with him to help Prem to reach his place safely.

On the way going back to the palace Sammy stopped near the outhouse. He saw Kalpana crying through the window. Seeing Sammy Hema came out.

Sammy: whatever happened outside don't let Madam know

Hema: ji.

Then Sammy left from there.

Standing in front of Vikram's picture, Ragahv said, "No one is supporting me. They think that I am wrong. But you know your son very well. Can your son do something wrong? After a little pause

At night

The next day morning

Seeing Raghav entering into the court room Sammy said, "You woke up?

Rag: did I miss anything?

Sammy: a meeting.

Rag: sorry

Sammy: good. At least you have realized that you made a mistake.

After a little pause

Rag: can we talk about the meeting?

Sammy: I know you don't want to hear anything about Prem. How about Kalpana? She is not happy either staying here. You are very selfish. To make yourself happy you are making her unhappy

Every time maids came with foods, Kalpana sent them back.

Hearing her Kalpana got up from the bed.

Kalpana started crying even more. Hema walked toward Kalpana. Handing over the letter

Hema: Read it.

Kal: I can't

Placing the letter on the bed Hema walked to the door. Kalpana sat on the bed. She gathered courage to open the letter. She read slowly with teary eyes,

Your father was not sent to the cell. He is doing well in the custody.

Kalpana was relieved. She wiped her tears out with her both hands.

Hema: Madam

Hearing Hema, Kalpana looked at her.

Hema: do you want me to serve your food on the table?

While serving food Hema was smiling thinking about the letter Ragahv sent.

At night

Kalpana was going to bed in the mean time Ragavh entered into the room. He sat on the bed. Showing the space beside him on the bed

Kalpana was hesitating. Ragahv noticed it. Few seconds later Kalpana sat making space in between. He looked at Kalpana.

Rag: I would be happy if you would wear the clothes and jewelries I sent for you. Anyway...

After a little pause

Rag: but I have something that will surely make you happy.

Then Raghav took out a necklace from his pocket. Showing it to Kalpana

Rag: this is yours.

It was that necklace fell from her neck when Raghav kissed Kalpana for the first time, Kalpana thought.

Rag: Are you ok?

Hearing him Kalpana came to her sense.

Kal: hm

Kalpana replied softly. Placing it on the bed Ragahv stood up.

Rag: Rest well. Good night

Then he left from there.

After Ragavh left Kalpana wore the necklace. Laying on the bed she recalled when Prem gifted Kalpana that necklace on her 20^th birthday. The necklace was not that expensive. But for Kalpana it was the most precious gift she had ever. It was not only a necklace but Prem's love toward her. Kalpana closed her eyes. A tear fell from her eyes.

The next day

Outhouse

Hema entered into the house taking a basket along with her.

Kal: what is this?

Hema: rose petal. For you. Royal women take shower with rose water everyday.

Kal: I am not one of those women in the royal family. So take it back.

Hema: so what you are not. But His majesty treats you like a queen

Then she walked to the bathroom.

Few minutes later Hema came back

Hema: come let me help you to take shower with rose water.

Kal: I told you. I don't need it

Hama: but you have to do it for His Majesty. You are here to serve him. You need to make him happy. You look good and healthy now. How long you will make His Majesty wait?

Kalpana understood. Before she came here she knew the meaning of serving someone. She came to her sense hearing Hema.

Hema: you need to get yourself ready for His Majesty every night.

Each and every seconds of the night Kalpana passed was miserable for her with this thought that how she will be able to get close with the person she hated the most? The night passed but Ragahv didn't show up. Kalpana was relieved.

This is how another day passed.

Two days later

I cannot spend my night with the fear like this, Kalpana thought. At the same time she also thought, whatever happened I won't let this man come close to me. In the mean time a guard came in and informed Kalpana that His Majesty would like to see her at his place.

Kal: you go. I am coming

Once the guard came outside Kalpana took the knife from the fruit basket and put it in the pocket of her gown.

Mansion

As Kalpana entered into the palace, she forgot everything for a while. She was in awe seeing the interior. She saw Mansions before from outside but she had no idea how luxurious it could be from inside. This is how she reached Ragahv's room. The room was as big as a small house. As her eyes fell on a Raghav's painting hanging by the wall she came to her sense.

Rag: Hi

Hearing Ragahv Kalpana turned back to face him. He was sitting on a chair.

Rag: can you close the door for me?

What he is up to? Kalpana thought.

Rag: Please

While walking toward the door she reminded herself that she had weapon with her. After closing the door she came back and stood far from him.

Rag: sit here

Showing a chair next to him Ragahv said. Kalpana slowly came and sat on the chair. Her knee was shaking. He showed some papers laying on the center table.

Rag: Can you sign these papers?

Kalpana signed one by one quickly without asking any question. Once she was done she got up and came back to the same place. Taking those papers in his hand Ragahv stood up and walked to the bed.

Rag: how come you didn't read before sign these papers?

Kal: I was brought here. What worst it can be.

Pointing a fruit bowl on the center table Ragahv said

Rag: Can you pass me that bowl?

Kalpana took the bowl in her hand. While looking at the papers Kalpana signed Ragahv said

Rag: I guess you already got to know why you are here.

He looked at Kalpana

Rag: you are here for me. I love you...

Ragahv stopped as he noticed Kalpana's hand was shaking. Before the bowl Kalpana was holding fell on her feet, Ragahv came and held it immediately.

Rag: be careful. You may get hurt

Kalpana looked at him with blank expression. His three words ILove You' were still ringing into her ears. Taking the bowl from her hand he came back to the bed.

Rag: where I was?

After remembering something he said

Rag: ha, I think you don't know how much I love you. And when you have decided to stay with me I thought to add you...

Before Ragahv could complete Kalpana shouted,

Kal: what did you add in the paper? What else you are forcing me to do? Give me the paper.

Seeing Kalpana coming toward him, Ragahv put his hand up with papers.

Kal: give me the paper.

Suddenly both fell on the bed.

Kal: how devil you are. Give me the paper

Kalpana didn't realize their position. Her all attention was on the paper. On the other hand Raghav was trying to control his laugh seeing her reaction.

Kal: do you really think I will come close to you? Never.

Rag: but you did

Hearing Ragahv Kalpana looked down. Seeing her on top of Ragahv she got up immediately.

Rag: you really thought I added that in the paper as a condition? (coming closer to him)

Giving Ragahv an angry glare Kalpana walked to the door. Seeing her leaving,

Rag: I will come to drink tea with you tomorrow evening

Without answering him Kalpana came out of the room.

Outhouse

Seeing Kalpana at that time Hema was confused

Hema: you came so early. I thought His Majesty will let you go in the morning

Kalpana didn't say anything. Her mood was off due to the incident happened earlier. After thinking something Hema said

Hema: it means nothing happened in between you and His Majesty

Kalpana looked at her angrily,

Kal: can't you stay quiet for a while?

While going to her bed Kalpana put her hand into the pocket frustrated. All of a sudden, she felt nothing was in there.

Kal: where is my knife?

On the other hand looking at the knife Ragahv found on his bed, he mumbled to himself, "was she carrying this with her all this time? after a little pause,

Rag: really?

The next day

Hema: come let me brush your hair. His Majesty may come here anytime soon

Kal: don't you have anything else to say? All the time His Majesty, His Majesty...

Hama: I work for his Majesty. I get paid for this

Kal: if I fire you, will you get paid?

Hema: no

Kal: then stop chanting about his name. Did you get that?

In the evening

Ragahv came to the outhouse to drink tea with Kalpana as he said. Pouring tea into a mug for Ragahv she came to her seat.

Rag: you don't want to drink?

Kal: no. I don't like this tea.

Rag: it means you didn't make it.

Kalpana didn't say anything. For a moment she was lost. She remembered how much Prem would like her tea, Kalpana, your tea is the best tea I had ever tested. After marriage you will make me three times a day. She came to the reality hearing RAghav.

Rag: no problem. I will test your tea some other time.

While drinking tea Ragahv's eyes were on Kalpana. Though Kalpana was not looking at Ragavh but she could feel his gaze on her.

Rag: thank you for the tea.

Hema came and asked,

Hema: your Majesty, are you coming tomorrow to drink tea with Madam?

Raghav looked at Kalpana who was still standing lowering her head.

Rag: I will drink tea with your madam everyday.

After a little pause

Rag: sometimes here. Sometimes at my place.

Few seconds later,

Rag: anyway, thanks for the tea again. I will see you tomorrow.

Then Raghav left from there

At night

The sleep was far away from Kalpana's eyes. Laying on the bed she remembered her dream she saw with Prem. They dreamt to stay with each other. They dreamt to have kids and raised them together. They dreamt to grow old together. As she closed her eyes a tear fell from her eyes. "I miss you, Kalpana whispered.

On the other hand, looking at the star through the window Prem mumbled, "Kalpana, I am missing you a lot. Why did you leave me like this? Don't you know we have one soul? How I will be able to live without you. a tear fell from his eyes.

On the other hand, looking at Kalpana's hairpin Ragahv whispered, "I love you. then he kissed it. "Good night, my jaan, Ragahv whispered.
