Chapter 22
"Kalpana lost all the important persons in her life. First her father who gave her life. Then Prem came into her life and taught her the meaning of love. Then Raghav... Kalpana stopped. She couldn't think anymore. She realized that Raghav became an important part of her life. "If she wouldn't accuse him for her father's death he wouldn't put his life in risk. She wanted to know who was behind all this but she never wanted to... Kalpana stopped. It's been two days, neither had he come back nor did he call. She looked outside through the window. It was raining heavy. Without caring the weather her restless mind came outside.
In the police station
"I am Mrs. Kalpana Singhania. I am here regarding the case of Vittal Jadhav and Vikram Singhania, hearing Kalpana an inspector said who was on duty at that time, "Inspector Bosh is handling this case. He is out. You have to wait until he comes back.
Kal: I know he is out. Please make me talk to him. I can't wait that long.
Ins: mam please try to understand
Kal: what you are trying me to understand. My husband is with them. its been two days I couldn't even contact him.
Ins: so you already know they are in the mission.
After a little pause he said, "Mam you go home. Once I am able to contact him, I will tell him to call you.
Singhania Mansion
Kalpana was totally drenched. Seeing her in that state, Gayetry said, "Kalpana what was that urgent that you had to go out today in this weather? If I would get to know that you will go out then I wouldn't let the driver go home. "I had to go to the library to return book, Kalpana lied as she didn't want to give Gayetry any stress.
Gayetry: ok, go to your room and change your dress or you will catch cold.
It's been four hours Kalpana was sitting on the same position on the floor with her wet dress. She kept looking at her phone but no one called her from the police station.
The next day
When Kalpana came down she saw Gayetry was waiting for her in the dining table.
Gayetry: come and have breakfast with me.
She pulled a chair for her and sat on it. All of a sudden Gayetry's eyes fell on her dress.
Gayet: Kalpana you were with your wet dress whole night?
Hearing Gayetry Kalpana came to her sense.
Gayetry: Last night I went to your room. Seeing the door closed I thought you were sleeping that's why I didn't want to bother you.
Seeing Kalpana not eating, Gayetry asked, "Are you ok Kalpana? Kalpana didn't say anything. She just nodded her head. Gayetry came near her and touched her forehead.
Gayetry: you have fever. Let me call the doctor
Kal: don't worry. I will be fine
Gayetry: then take some medicine.
Kal: ji,
Then Kalpana went to her room leaving her food.
Two more days passed
Finally Kalpana's phone rang with an unknown number. Without wasting a second she picked up the phone.
Kal: hello!
Ins Basu: Mrs. Singhania, can you come to the police station?
Police station
Once Kalpana reached the police station she saw Ins Basu.
Basu: Come Mrs. Singhania. I was waiting...
"How is Raghav? Kalpana asked before Basu completed his sentence.
Basu: I know you were very worried about your husband. He if fine. I got your message. I am sorry I couldn't contact you.
While Kalpana's eyes were searching for Raghav, Basu asked, "Don't you want to know who was behind of your father's murder? Kalpana looked back to him.
Basu: Ms. Simi
Kal: Ms. Simi?
"Ha, after a little pause he continued, "When Mr. Khanna got arrested; he confessed that he was the one who kept passing all the information to Simi. When Mr. Singhania chose you over Simi she couldn't take it easily. Since then she was planning to harm you. Not only that she tried hard to make you and Mr. Singhania separate from each other. When your father got sick and got admitted in the hospital, Mr. Singhania tried hard to save his life the way he risked his life to bring those culprits out who took innocent persons lives. When your father was recovering simi sent someone to take his life. A tear escaped from Kalpana's eyes.
Basu: According to Mr. Khanna's statement we arrested Ms. Simi as she was staying in India.
"Why did you do that to my father? hearing Kalpana, Simi turned to face her. As Simi turned Kalpana slapped her hard on her face.
Kal: what was my father's fault ha?
Simi: it was not your father's fault. It was all your fault. You snatched my Raghav from me. I hate you.
Kal: why didn't you take my life instead?
Simi: do you really think I didn't try? I tried several times but Raghav was always there to save you. He didn't even care his own life. What do you have that he didn't find in me? I loved him a lot but he never loved me.
Kal: You know what Simi, you never loved Ragahv. You just wanted to get him using your so called power. If you would really love him, understand him then he would never leave you.
Then Kalpana left from there with a heavy heart.
Seeing Kalpana sitting on a bench in the nearest park quietly, Raghav came near her and sat beside her. "Somehow I am responsible for all this, Ragahv said and added, "What would happen if I wouldn't be happy with Simi, at least your father would be in front of you, alive. Kalpana didn't say a word. Her focus was still to the front. I wish I could set everything in place, he thought, but it is too late. Ragahv stood up and walked to his car.
Singhania Mansion
Hearing everything from Raghav, Gayetry felt bad for Kalpana. Wiping her tears she asked, "Where is Kalpana?
Rag: I already informed her family. She is with them. Let her stay with her family.
Gayetry: nowadays I became very attached to Kalpana. She just left and I started missing her.
Rag: try to grow your habit to stay without her.
Gayetry was looking at Raghav confused while he was walking toward his room.
In the evening
Seeing Kalpana in the Mansion Gayetry walked toward her. She hugged Kalpana.
Gayetry: I don't know what to say beta after whatever happened to your father. Why this happens always with good people.
Kalpana broke the hug and wiped her tear. Then she took Kalpana to the couch and made her sit on it. Placing her hand on Kalpana's Gayetry said, "Ragahv is blaming himself for all this. Kalpana placed her other hand on Gayety's and said, "It is not his fault. He tried his best to save my father but God had some other plan for him.
Gayet: if you want you can stay with your family for few days.
Kal: I am fine bua
Gayet: you are not kalpana, not even Raghav. Since few days neither you took care of yourself nor did Raghav. Go and take rest
Kalpana nodded her head and then left from there.
While going to her room passing guest room she stopped. She saw Ragahv was not in there. Then she walked to her room. As she entered into her room her eyes fell on Ragahv who was sleeping on the bed. He was looking very tired while sleeping. She noticed there was no pillow under his head. She slowly walked toward the bed and sat on it beside him. Taking a pillow in her hand she leaned toward Ragahv. She placed her other hand under his head and pulled him toward her. Both of them were few inches apart. She looked at him. Her eyes filled with concern. Placing the pillow under his head she was about to take her hand out Ragahv woke up. Seeing her very close to him he was confused. Then he realized that he was sleeping on Kalpana's bed. "Oh, I am sorry. I thought you will stay with your family that's why I came to sleep here, saying so Raghav was about to get off but Kalpana stopped him saying, "You can sleep here. Let me sleep on the couch.
Rag: no you can sleep on the bed.
Kalpana held his arm and said, "Its ok Raghav. Raghav looked at his hand Kalpana was holding. Taking a pillow in her hand she walked to the couch and laid down facing her back. As Raghav turned to face his back Kalpana turned back to face him.
In the morning
Hearing the knock on the door Ragahv woke up and walked to the door. Once he opened the door, he saw Gayetry. She said with concerned, "How are you feeling now?
Rag: feeling better bua.
Gayetry: Is Kalpana sleeping?
Rag: yah, she is...
Raghav stopped as he remembered Kalpana was sleeping on the couch. Before he could say anything or stop her, Gayetry entered into the room. "There she is. Still sleeping, hearing Gayetry, Raghav turned back and saw that Kalpana was sleeping on the bed. "I think she is tired. Let her sleep. she said and added, "Once she wakes up you both come down. We will do breakfast together. Then she left from there. Few seconds later Kalpana opened her eyes and sat on the bed. Ragahv was just looking at her confused.
Kal: When I heard Bua talking to you I came here on the bed.
I ruined her life but she is still thinking about my family. A sudden wave of guilt aroused in his heart. He met her eyes with sad eyes for a moment and then moved as he could not even meet her eyes.
One week later
One of Raghav's clients Mr. Rajesh Mehta came to invite Raghav and Kalpana for his company's success party. Kalpana and Gayetry were also present there. We are together for one and half month then what is the point of showing it off? Recalling Kalpana's word Raghav denied saying, "I am sorry Mr. Mehta. We won't be able to make it. Kalpana was making coffee for the guest. Her hand stopped automatically. She knew very well that she was the reason of him denying.
Gayetry: Mr. Mehta, Raghav and Kalpana will attend the party. I have high blood pressure that's why one of them always stays home for me.
Looking at Raghav she added, "Raghav don't worry about me. I will keep one of the maids with me. Gayetry wanted RagNa spend some quality time together. After Ragahv came from the mission, he made a distance in between them. Gayetry barely saw them to talk to each other. Raghav looked at Kalpana who nodded her head.
The next day
On the way in the car while going to the party Raghav apologized to Kalpana saying, "Because of Bua you had to agree to attend the party. I am sorry. "Don't be, Kalpana said and continued, "Bua matters to me as much as she matters to you. After all we are a fam..., Ragahv stopped Kalpana saying, "I know you love bua a lot that's why you couldn't say no' to her. After today no one will be able to force you for anything. What did he mean by that?Kalpana thought confused. "Our contact is ending tomorrow, Hearing Raghav Kalpana said in her mind, how time flew, I didn't realize it. She took a deep breathe. Is Raghav letting me to go from his life? There was a mysterious silence in the car. None of them had a single word after that.
The party was held in one of the five star hotels. Once Ragna reached MR and Mrs. Mehta welcomed them with smile. When Mrs. Mehta kept Kalpana busy introducing with her friends, Ragahv quietly walked to the bar section. Taking a drink in his hand he fixed himself on a tool.
As the night went on, the air was filled with laughter, gossips. Couples were invited on the dance floor. In that crowded place Raghav was sitting on the same place all alone. He didn't realize how many glasses of drinks he finished as his mind was somewhere else. "Hey Raghav, hearing a female voice Ragahv turned to face the person. Ragahv smiled and said, "Hey Ana. Holding his hand Ana said, "Come to the dance floor. Before he could say anything she almost dragged him to the dance floor. When everyone was busy enjoying the party, Kalpana's eyes were only on Raghav. She didn't like Ragahv with any other woman. "Mam drink, hearing a waiter Kalpana took a drink without looking at the drink. She finished it in one go. Though the taste was totally different but she didn't care. "Can I have one more, Kalpana said looking at the waiter. "Sure mam, saying so he gave her the same one she had before. Taking it in her hand she took an empty seat for her to sit. She was very sad. Anybody could read her face. "Excuse me, hearing a male voice Kalpana looked up. "What do you want? Kalpana asked annoyed to the young man who was standing in front of her. "I am sorry, the man said and added, "I think your mood is off. I thought I will ask you for a dance.
Kal: yes my mood is off. You can choose someone else.
Before he could say anything he felt someone tapping on his shoulder. He looked back to see the person. "She is with me, hearing Raghav the man said, "Oh I am sorry. You guys enjoy. Then the man left. Placing his hand toward Kalpana Ragahv asked softly, "Will you? within a second her mood was changed. Kalpana smiled and placed her hand on his. Then he took her to the dance floor.
As the night went on, the dance floor was getting dark. Raghav and Kalpana were swaying like other couples along with the soft music. Kalpana's hands were around his neck while Raghav's on her waist. Filling all the gap in between them Kalpana slowly came close to him. As she placed her head on his chest Ragahv brought her more toward him and hugged her. For a moment RagNa forgot about the world, the people of this world. Only himself and her. All of a sudden his phone rang. Breaking the hug Ragahv looked at Kalpana and said with a smile, "I just will be back. then he went to the corridor to attend the call.
Rag: hello, hello who is it?
When he didn't hear anything from the other side of the phone he disconnected the call. Before he turned to leave a pair of female hands hugged him from behind. He looked back. Before he could see her face, she walked to the front facing her back. As she held his hand, Ragahv looked at his hand and then to the woman to the front. He smiled thinking Kalpana as she was also wearing black cloth. The woman walked to an empty room. Ragahv followed her behind. As they got into the room, she pushed Raghav on a bed. She came on top of Ragahv and started kissing on his neck, chest. Ragahv was feeling dizzy. He tried to keep his eyes open but somehow it was getting closed. When she came near his lips and was about to kiss, "Ana? hearing Ragahv Ana came little back.
Ana: ha its me.
"What are you doing here? Ragahv asked confused.
Ana: you came here with me willingly.
Ragahv pushed her hard and got off from the bed. "I thought Kal... then he started walking to the door. Ana stopped him holding his hand and said, "Let's spend the night. You know me very well. You will not regret. He released his hand from her grip and said, "Stay away from me ok. Let me go to my wife. Then he came out of the room. "Ragahv, hearing Kalpana, he turned to face her. Kalpana walked toward him and asked, "Where have you been? I been looking for you for a long time. Ragahv held Kalpana's hand and said, "Lets go home. While going to the exit, he said, "Kalpana, I don't think it will be safe to drive tonight. Lets spend the night here in the hotel. "Ok, Kalpana replied.
In the hotel room
Pointing to the bed Ragahv told Kalpana to sleep there and he came to the couch. Kalpana nodded her head and then went to the bed. Though Ragahv was leaning back on the couch, but he kept his eyes open as he didn't want to fall asleep now. He looked at Kalpana who was sitting on the bed. "Kalpana, can I say something? hearing Ragahv Kalpana nodded her head.
Rag: Tum bohot achchey ho
Kalpana smiled.
Rag: Can I say something?
Nodding her head Kalpana came to the couch. She sat beside him and was waiting for him to say further. He looked at her and said, "You are looking beautiful in black. She felt shy and then smiled.
Rag: can I say something?
She nodded her head.
Rag: you look more beautiful when you smile.
Kalpana smiled
Rag: can I say something?
Before she could reply or nod, he said, "I love you. Kalpana was looking at him. "Can I say something? hearing Kalpana Ragahv nodded his head. He leaned back on the couch as his eyes were getting tired. "I love you too, Kalpana said softly. She looked at his closed eyes. She came near him and placed her head on his shoulder. She didn't realize when she fell asleep.
