Chapter 21

In India

Once Kalpana reached India she directly went to Singhania Mansion. Seeing Kalpana there one of the maids greeted her with a smile, "Hello Mam. Without responding to her Kalpana walked to Kalpana's room. Gayetry was in her room. When the maid informed her about Kalpana she mumbled to herself confused, "but they are supposed to be here in India next week. Then she walked to Kalpana's room. The door was closed. Gayetry called her by her name, "Kalpana. Kalpana didn't respond.

Gayet: Kalpana open the door

When Kalpana didn't respond Gayetry said, "Is everything alright? all of a sudden she felt dizziness. On the other hand after packing her stuffs Kalpana walked to the door with this thought that she would tell everything to Gayetry before she left the house. As she opened the door her eyes fell on Gayetry who was laying on the floor unconscious. "Bua, the only word came out of her mouth.

After checking Gayetry, Dr. Avinash said, "She has a minor attack, and added, "This is not good in this condition. "What do you mean by that? Kalpana asked worried. He looked at Kalpana and said, "I think I should not hide anything at least from you. Kalpana looked at him confused.

Dr Avi: Mrs. Singhania, she is suffering from leukemia.

Hearing this Kalpana took step back and tried to balance herself. She still could not believe what she just heard. "Are you ok Mrs. Singhania? Dr. asked her. She looked down to see Gayetry who was sleeping on the bed. "Does Raghav know about it? Kalpana whispered.

Dr. Avi: no. None of the family members know about her illness. Actually I was just following order given by Gayetry Mam. Especially from Raghav. He is very attached to his Bua. He already lost his whole family. After bearing a big loss it would be difficult for him to live with this news.

Kal: I know but at least he could do her treatment

Dr. Avi: she is under treatment. I am their family doctor. When I found out about her illness I spoke to a doctor in Singapore. She agreed to go and get her treatment over there staying with her friend Mrs. Sabita.

Kal: Sabita Aunty?

Dr. Avi: yes. She knows about it. She and her husband took good care of her.

Kal: how did she arrange money?

Dr. Avi: Raghav bought her a house next to her best friend Mrs. Sabita in Singapore. She sold it for her treatment. Also she has money into her account. Now she can get the same treatment saying here in India.

Once the Dr. Avi left Kalpana called Sabita and spoke to her about Gayetry. Sabita told Kalpana to keep it as a secret. Seeing her family member unhappy she would also be unhappy. Let her live happily with her family member. Also not to give her any stress.

Sitting beside Gayetry Kalpana recalled her moment with Gayetry. She loved Kalpana like her own daughter that she never got it from Nitu. All of a sudden she felt Gayetry moving in her sleep. Before she woke up Kalpana wiped out her tears. "KAlpana, Gayetry called her by her name.

Kalpana made her sit on the bed.

Hearing his name Kalpana's smile disappeared and it was not unnoticed by Gayetry.

Kalpana didn't want to give her any stress that's why she decided to hide everything from her. She smiled and then nodded her head. "Let me bring soup for you, saying so Kalpana left from there leaving Gayetry worried.

In the afternoon Nitu and Prerna came to see Kalpana. They wanted to take her with them but Kalpana refused to go with them saying she wanted to stay with Gayetry as she was sick.

At night

Standing near the window Kalpana was lost in her own thought. She wanted to leave this house for forever but Gayetry's illness made everything changed. Neither she could stay with Raghav nor could she leave Gayetry in this condition.

One week later

After solving Simi's mater Raghav came back to India. One of his people who work for him already informed him that Kalpana was staying in Singhania Mansion and this news made him surprise.

When Kalpana entered into the Mansion taking medicine in her hand, her eyes fell on Raghav who was having lunch with Gayetry in the dining area. Seeing Kalpana Gayetry said, "Kalpana, why did you take too long?

Kal: I went to the library after I picked up your medicine

All this time Raghav was eating lowering his head.

Gayetry: come and sit. Eat with us

Kal: you both eat. Let me fresh up

Placing the medicine on the table Kalpana left from there.

Half an hour later Kalpana came back. Raghav's presents might make her uncomfortable, with this thought Raghav went to his room.

At night

When Gayetry went to sleep Kalpana came to her room. Raghav was doing some work in his laptop. Feeling someone's presence he turned to see the person. It was Kalpana who was standing at the door. He got off from the bed taking laptop in his hand. He looked at Kalpana and said, "You sleep here, and added, "Let me go to another room. then he took his clothes from the almirah and left from there.

Two weeks later

Since Raghav came in India, both Raghav and Kalpana kept themselves busy with their personal stuffs. They would get to see each other occasionally as Raghav would leave for work before everyone woke up and he would come home after they went to sleep. In one weekend Gayetry wished to have lunch with Raghav. She told Kalpana to make Raghav's favorite dishes.

It's been two hours both Gayetry and Kalpana were waiting for Raghav in the lunch but he didn't come.

Kal: Bua, you should start eating. You need to take medicine

Gayetry: Call him. He must be on the way

Kal: he won't come.

Gayetry: how do you know?

Kal: he is busy that's why he works over the weekend too.

Kalpana lied.

Gayetry: since he came in India he kept himself busy with work. He doesn't have time for us. At least he could make himself free over the weekend.

At night

When Ragahv came home he directly went to his room. After freshening up he came to the balcony. Unknown to him Kalpana was already in there. Feeling someone's presence Kalpana looked back and saw Raghav. Both of them were standing face to face after a long time. Few seconds later Raghav turned to leave but stopped hearing Kalpana, "Raghav. he turned back to face her.

Kal: Bua was talking about you. At least manage some time for her.

Raghav nodded his head. Then he left from there leaving Kalpana alone.

The next evening

Seeing Kalpana in her room along with hair oil in her hand Gayetry said, "Kalpana, what are you doing here? Go and study.

Kal: I will. But let me do this first.

Gayetry: I know you are not going to listen to me.

Kal: when you know me that well then why do you waste your time by asking?

Then she sat beside Gayetry and started putting oil.

Gayetry: Raghav is very lucky because he has you.

Kalpana stopped from whatever she was doing for a moment. "Look who is here? hearing Gayeetry, Kalpana looked at the door. It was Raghav who was standing at the door holding his coat in his hand. As Raghav walked toward Gayetry, Kalpana stood up and went to the dining area to serve food.

Gayetry: why did you come home early today? Don't you have work?

Gayetry: thanks God! I thought he is going to tell me that your marriage is not real. I almost had heart attack.

Hearing Gayetry both looked at her.

Gayetry: is dinner ready?

Kal: ha

While having dinner it was Gayetry who kept talking and both Raghav and Kalpana eating quietly. Seeing her happy after a long time both of them were happy.

After the dinner Kalpana went to her room to study. Few minutes later her phone rang. Without looking at the screen she picked up the phone.

Kal: hello. Who is it?

Rag: it's me Raghav.

Kal: ha. Tell me

Rag: if you want you can stay with your family during the exam.

Kal: I cant leave bua like this now. I meant to say she needs me

Raghav then got to know that Bua was the reason of her staying here for the time being, probably until her contact ended. He just said ok' and then cut the call.

Two weeks later

It was Raghav's family member's 1^st death anniversary the day Kalpana finished her exam. When Kalpana came home after the exam she saw few people wearing white clothes along with pandit ji coming out of the house. She heard one of the guests saying, "She is Mr. Vikram Singhania's daughter-in-law right? "Yes. She is. "Today is very important day. How come she didn't participate in this puja? "What are they talking about? Kalpana mumbled to herself confused. When she entered into the house her eyes fell on Gayetry sitting in front of RAghav's family picture. She sat beside Gayetry on the floor. Sensing someone beside her Gayetry opened her eyes and looked at Kalpana.

Kal: Bua, is today...

Gayetry stopped her saying, "Ha, today is Raghav's family member's death anniversary.

Kal: how come you didn't tell me?

Gayetry: I wanted to tell you but I don't know why Raghav...

How could he make me someone outsider, Kalpana thought. After a little pause, I shouldn't have any complaint about you. It was I who broke all the relationship with you. She stood up and came outside.

While walking on the street near the park all of a sudden Kalpana's eyes fell on Raghav sitting alone in the park. As she came near Raghav she noticed his puffy eyes due to crying. Seeing him in that state her heart skipped for a moment. She could understand his pain as she also lost her father. She wanted to go and talk to him. She wanted to share his pain with her. But what relation we both carry, with this thought she came back.

Since Kalpana came home she was thinking about Raghav only. Somehow Raghav was right, she thought, when someone lost his whole family how he could live normally.

The next day

When Kalpana was serving breakfast in the dining table, the land phone rang. She walked to the living room and picked up the phone. Before she could say hello' she heard Ragahv's voice as he also picked up the phone from his study room. She was about to hang up the phone but stopped when she heard the inspector saying from the other side of the phone, "Mr. Singhania, I been trying to reach you for a long time.

Rag: I am sorry. I forgot to charge my cell phone

Inspector: ok, there is good news. We got to know about Mr. Khanna's whereabouts. We are going to arrest him. I am sure he was also involved with Mr. Jadhav's murder case.

Rag: Inspector, I will go with you

Ins: this mission won't be as easy as you are thinking. You are not well trained like us. This is very risky

Rag: don't worry about me. If anything happens to me no one will be blamed for that. Now tell me when are you leaving?

Ins: once you reached the police station.

Raghav cut the call but Kalpana was still holding the phone. She was worried for Raghav if something bad happens to him. Few minutes later Raghav came down. Seeing a bag in his hand, Gayetry asked, "Raghav are you going somewhere?

Rag: ha

Gayet: when are you coming back?

Rag: I don't know

Then he looked at Kalpana who was still standing at the same place. He told Gayetry when his eyes were still on Kalpana, "Bua, you take care and take care of Kalpana. Both Raghav and Kalpana were looking at each other as if they would never get to see each other anymore.
