Readers I have respected your wishes and not written or described the battle Pakhi has gone through. I only bring her in now because she will unite RagNa.
Chapter 17
Ragav looks at Maya with frustration, "please maya. I know you are in touch with Pakhi." Shaking her head in negation, Maya says, "sorry Ragav. I am not helping you... There is no way I will help you." Pacing to and fro in Maya's living room, Ragav runs his fingers through his hair, stops, glares at Maya and says, "damn it. You don't understand. Kalpi wants..." Interrupting him, Maya says protectively, "I don't care what Kalpi wants. I care what my friend needs!"
Forcing herself to keep calm, Maya continues, "Ragav you don't know the emotional upheaval Pakhi went through when she realised she would never become a mother... When she realised her husband loves another. She has just picked up the pieces... Just yesterday she smiled through her eyes. Do you know how difficult it is to see your best friend feign that all is well and yet when you take a closer look her eyes are lifeless. I can't have you ruin all her hard work.
Ragav looks at Maya guiltily, says, "I never meant for any of this to happen. I never realised that I had fallen in love with Kalpi until it was too late." Taking a deep breath, Ragav continues, "Maya, I need to speak to Pakhi... The child Kalpi carries is Kalpi's and mine. I need to explain..." Hearing a shark intake of air... Ragav stops... Turns and calls out, "Pakhi are you here... Please pakhi I need..."
Pakhi steps into the room, her gaze drinking him in... She had not seen him since the night she had walked away. Seeing the vulnerability in her eyes, Maya walks towards her concerned. Pakhi gives her a weak smiles and says, "I am fine. Please give us a moment."
Ragav stares at Pakhi... Feels awkward... Helpless and guilty over the pain he caused. He says softly, "I am sorry." Pakhi grins and says, "relax. I am not made out of china... I won't break easily. We have always been friends first." Relieved he tells her everything... The role Neetu had played and the plan she had hatched to become a grandmother. Smiling Pakhi says, "look at the irony of the situation. Had she known you were in love with Kalpi she would have not needed to do all this. You must give her the credit for speeding up the pace to bring you two together. Knowing you... You would have waited until we eventually broke up." Feeling guilty, Ragav says, "Pakhi, I..." "I am fine Ragav," Pakhi says, "I can handle the truth. When do you want me to meet Kalpi?"

Kalpi waits nervously for Pakhi... She looks about Maya's living room anxiously... She was both happy and sad... Deep down she knew Ragav would know where Pakhi is... She needed to get this over with before she changed her mind. Seeing Pakhi walk in, Kalpi gets up and rushes towards her... Giving her a tight hug. Surprised by the gesture Pakhi hugs her back.
Breaking their hug... They sit side by side... Kalpi leans forward... Takes Pakhi's hands into hers and says with tears eyes, "come back home. Nothing has changed." Placing pakhi's hand on her womb, Kalpi adds with a heavy heart, "This baby is yours... Ragav is yours."
Pakhi stares at Kalpi in disbelief... Pulls her hands... Realising them and exclaims, "oh my God! You are in love with him." Hearing the words aloud, Kalpi denies them, "no I am not. Why would you think that? I only agreed to become a surrogate for both of you. I want you both to be happy." "The baby is yours Kalpi," Pakhi says. Wanting to reassure her, Kalpi says, "my intentions have not changed." "Wow. I never saw this. You love Ragav so much... No don't interrupt... Kalpi you love Ragav and want his happiness. I love Ragav and want his happiness. Do you know where Ragav's happiness lies?" Kalpi nods her head affirmatively, Pakhi smiles sadly and says, "no you don't. Ragav's happiness lies with you. I left because Ragav loves you very much."
Kalpi stares at Pakhi for several seconds than bursts out crying. Pakhi comforts her and says, "don't worry it is pregnancy hormones." Moments later Pakhi asks, "can I be a part of your lives?" Her gaze rests on Kalpi's womb with yearning and says, "this baby is the closest to a child I shall ever have." Nodding Kalpi hugs her, whispering, "yes of course." Pakhi whispers back, "thank you." Breaking the hug, Pakhi says with forced cheerfulness, "better rush off to that husband of yours. He ,just be sick with worry wondering what we are concocting." Smiling Kalpi leaves.
Once Kalpi leaves, Pakhi turns... Sees Maya by the entrance... Runs and hugs her tight... Seeking comfort as she weeps away.
