Pardon me, I'm usually just a lurker but felt that I really had to say something on this issue as there are so many unhappy fans of EMA these days.
I don't think there's any point in ranting at the CVs as they will not listen to anonymous fans on the internet. If anything they get more defensive and strengthen their resolution to force their agenda upon the fans. We should work to bring the ratings down as that will be the only thing they will pay attention to.
Let's mobilize all of our resources to get everyone we know to stop watching EMA. We at IF are ready to quit but we need to get the rest of the watching fans ( the aunties etc) to follow suit. Let's start an organized and sustained campaign to do this;
1) Use our ready made technology to get the word out so that more and more people will quit watching. For example;
A) Use Facebook and other social networking sites to reach out to as many people as possible. We can use our own FB pages to post statuses that are public and also create a specific page for this. Get as many people as possible to join and like the posts and pages.
B) Create an organized twitter hashtag to ask people to stop watching EMA - something catchy and viral for example #StopwatchingEMA. Don't bother tweeting the actors, they don't have a say in this matter and we shouldn't harass them either. Just tweet to zee and the EMA creatives using this hashtag. Get as many people as possible on this hashtag!
C) create an online petition and get as many people as possible to sign the petition. Send the results to the PH, Zee Nd the advertisers.
D) use other ways, eg; text messages and word of mouth
2) At the same time we should bombard Zee with our dissatisfaction with the storyline. Send them emails and tweet them. Once the FB pages and twitter hashtags are up and running, send Zee the links as well as information on the numbers of people who have joined the campaign.
3) Write to the advertisers who choose to advertise during the EMA slot. If the advertisers are concerned about fan reaction, they may well pull out and that would affect the CVs.
Here comes the tough part. We will need volunteers to get this campaign going. Once it's up and running, it will get noticed by people. Bonus points if it's reported by the media as the CVs and PH will really squirm at the negative press.
Let's get the CVs and the PH of EMA where it hurts the most - the ratings! Any one game for this?
