Chapter 2b:

She was right on time for the meeting. She believed time is money and she considered every second of it as important as breathing was to her. Elegantly she got down from the car and was greeted by the head of Builder's association of Mumbai. He was startled to see this young petite girl who had gained immense popularity in the last 5 years of in Delhi. He knew nothing more about her other than the ladder of success she had climbed in such a small time. She was now in Mumbai and he wanted to use this opportunity to partner KJ group with one of the top builders in Mumbai. His personal favourite was Singhania group but he was not sure if Raghav Singhania would agree to this. He had always been mystifying to him so he could not bet on his approval. Nevertheless, he had a backup in form of Kapoor Construction who would never disappoint him.

It was a proud moment for her to be recognised somebody in the same land where she grew up as a nobody. She could suspect the plan the Head was cooking up in his mind but little did he know she was the mastermind behind all this. She knew it was the time for the Kapoor's and Singhania's to payback for every misery she had to go through. The Head accompanied her inside the hall where a small formal function and lunch buffet was arranged. The first person to spot her was Sammy. Yes, he was still working with Raghav. A small smile curled up forcefully on Kalpi's lips while Sammy watched her in bewilderment.

Though Sammy wanted to rush to her as soon as he watched her it felt to him as if he was being chained by some guilt. Unquestionably he cannot be blamed for anything that happened. Yet, he could not forgive himself for helping Raghav make Kalpana fall in love with him. Meet 'The KJ' the Head said to Sammy and that was enough to make Sammy taken aback. It was not that he doubted her credentials but was sad that he had lost the one genuine person he had ever known in this battle of Singhania's and Kapoor's.

Chapter 3a

Before Kalpana could talk to Sammy it was Prem Kapoor who tapped on her shoulder introducing him and bragging about his company. His eyes were left wide open the very moment he realised that KJ is none other than Kalpana Jadhav. This sudden bolt of lightning that stuck him very hard and he needed a moment to accept the reality. He excused himself and went out to get some fresh air. A little smirk appeared on Kalpana's face. 'One down' she murmured to herself with a winning grin.

She was enjoying the function mingling with people but you cannot literally call it mingling. Yes, she was physically present their but all she was doing was listening to them. She was not the same old Kalpi who just could not stop talking. She was a woman of few words. Sammy eagerly waited for Raghav to show up so that the long overdue confrontation between Kalpi and Raghav could take place. The moment he tried calling him he saw Raghav entering the hall. He signalled Raghav to come to him but before they could talk the Head asked Raghav to come with him.

Sammy knew Raghav was not ready for this and stood at a distance with his fingers crossed. 'There she is' said the Head pointing to KJ who was standing with her back facing Raghav. He felt weird but then just shrugged off this thought and walked towards her. Kalpi had practiced this same scene over and over again in her mind- she would just treat him as a stranger. But, the moment they came face to face it was as if the time has stopped. She could not just gather the courage to say anything and he was just staring at her as if he was dreaming. He blinked his eyes twice or thrice but she was still there right in front of him. 'Kalpi' he said slowly. His voice was enough to bring her back to reality.' And who is he?'- She enquired. This left both the Head and the Raghav surprised. The head introduced Raghav to KJ and all she said was 'Hi, nice to meet you' and turned back to engage herself in the conversation she was participating before. 'Arggh you Kalpi. It had to better than this'- she said in her mind clenching her teeth.
