Chapter 29
Ragav walks in nonchalantly, crosses his arms across his chest. With a develish glint in his eyes he glances across the room, looks dead into Sahil's eyes and says with a smirk, "who died!" Sahil watches the man he hates with every fibre, hate for the father translating to the son, unable to contain himself, Sahil lunges for Ragav. His intention to strangle him as he cries out, "why you... It was supposed to be you... You S.O.B"
The very next second, there are cops everywhere and Sahil is arrested, his rights being read for conspiring to kill Ragav. Everything happened so fast that other than Ragav and the surgeon, the rest are all realing in shock... Dazed as they try to grasp what is happening. The cops prepare to take Sahil away, when Ragav intervenes and stops them saying with empathy, "let him meet his daughter first", understanding the pain Sahil must be going for he could well imagine how he would feel if something happened to Kalpi... That split second fear he had felt when he had heard the bullets was something he would never forget.
Kamla maa and Neetu turn to look at the surgeon, accusation in their eyes. Looking uncomfortably at Ragav, the surgeon turns back towards Kamla maa and Neetu, saying, "I am sorry for my part in this. Mrs Kapoor, we were able to save your daughters life. However we will not know for certain the extent of the damage until she regains consciousness." He calls out for the nurse to wheel Pakhi in and continues, "Mrs Kapoor, the next 24 hours are very crucial and I must warn you that there is every chance that Pakhi will be paralyzed for the bullet grazed her spinal cord."
Hearing this Sahil drops himself onto the floor, covers his face with his hands, tears falling, he cries out, "I did this to my daughter." Neetu and Kamla maa rush to pakhi's side, both mothers on either side... Like angels... Caressing her with one hand, while the other seeks out to grasp one another... Seeking support and strength from each other. Neetu looks at Kamla, her gaze blurry from her tears, says in anguish, "Kamla... My baby", her gaze falling back to Pakhi.

Kalpi frowns, looks at Sammy and says, "where is Ragav? Why is he taking long? He just nipped out to get coffee", trying to control her racing heart and wild imagination as she thinks that Ragav might be laying somewhere injured. Shaking her head, she mutters, "get a grip... It is not possible. We are in a hospital... Filled with people. Nothing is going to happen to Ragav."
Moments later Ragav walks in empty handed. Seeing him, Kalpi yells, "Where have you been? Why did you take so long? Where is the coffee?" Surprised by her strong reaction, but understanding the root of it, he hugs her and says, "Sorry I did not realise how much time had lapsed." He then proceeds to update Sammy and her on what just happened.
Aghast, Kalpi rushes to the nest room wanting to be by her mother's side. Instinctively knowing that her mother would need her right now. She calls out hesitantly, "Aai." Kamla maa turns, sees Kalpi and rushes to her, hugging her as she cries brokenly, "Kalpi, my Pakhi... look at her, she is sleeping so peacefully. Kalpi the doctor said that she may be paralysed. Oh Kalpi my Pakhi will never walk again." Comforting her mother, Kalpi glances towards Pakhi, tears falling as she recollects the memories of Pakhi always being full of life, never still for a moment. Always busy doing somethin or the other. Her gaze falls to Neetu, who is standing by Pakhi's side looking lost and vunerable, silently crying as she holds her daughter's hand in hers.
Kalpi opens her arms and Neetu walks in and hugs hers too. All three women hug and cry, their gesture stating that in these trying times they will be each others support system.

Two weeks later
Ragav's apartment
Kalpi walks up to Ragav hands him a cup of tea and says imploringly, "Ragav please." Angry, Ragav says furiously, "No." then adds, "We have discussed this all week. We have argued over it. I am not going to change my mind", not wanting to see her tears, he places the cup of tea into her hands without drinking it and storms out of the house. Kalpi sighs as she looks on sadly, weakening as she thinks, "Damn it is the third morning he has left for work without breakfast." Strengthening her resolve she mutters, "Well I am not going to give up. If Pakhi wants to live with us then she will and you are going to agree to it."
As Ragav heads out of the building, the building security stops him. Angry and impatient, he glares at the security guard and snaps, "What?" Hesitantly the security guards says, "Sir your breakfast" and proceeds to give him the tiffin Kalpi had had delivered earlier in the morning.
Ragav stares at the tiffin, mutters, "Damn her" and heads back into the building and back to Kapli. Opening the door, he just looks at her sad face and growls, "Fine you win. I will do what you want." Happy Kalpi runs to him and hugs him saying, "I knew you would eventually agree." He hugs her back saying, "I am still not happy about it. You owe me"
He lifts her into his arms, she squeals and says, "What are you doing?" as he carries her to their bedroom, he replies cheekily, "I am collecting what is owed" and shuts the door.
