Part 13

Sammy hears his phone ringing after he gets out of shower, towel around his shoulder hardly hiding his 6 pack abs.

S: 21 miscalls from CP (pakhi), awww She remembered me. I should ask her out for dinner. Sammy grins a puppy dog smile.

P: uff CC, pick up the call. Where is he when needed?

S: Hi Pakhi, you called. Are you okay?

P: Yes, I was wondering if you could drop by Kamla Ma's home. I have a feeling something bad will happen. Our stay order ends today and if Kalpi doesn't come with Raghav, the chawl will be demolished.

S: Don't worry, Kalpana will come on time. Don't stress out too much, I'm on my way, your knight in shining armor.

S POV: Where are you dude? I have been calling since morning. Pick up the phone.

Juhi Ma almost reaches the chawl and remembers she didn't take her medication. She remembers her phone conversation with Kalpi.

Flashback

K: Ma, I have to leave for Pune so I won't be there to remind you of your medications. You better take those on time or...or

J: Okay meri Ma (my mother) I will and stop doing or..or... I won't let anything happen to you. I knew you were about to say or something will happen to you.

Ma returns home to take her medication. While Kapoors get bulldozer in front of chawl. Everyone is locked out except Kamla being in the home where her life started. The bulldozer is about to move when Raghav's car blocks the way. Sammy seeing this is grinning ear to ear, hugs shocked Pakhi and says everything is under control. You owe me a dinner date. Pakhi is blushing yet still undecided on who she has a crush on... her hot boss CC or arrogant hotter boss RS.

Raghav gets out of the car from one side and Kalpi from other. Prem glares at Kalpi knowing something is fishy. So this must be the real Raghav SInghania.

R: Stop right there, you have no right to demolish this land. It is my land, Raghav Singhnia's land. So back off. He hands the papers to policeman who agrees this has to be Raghav's land.

Prem is furious at how things are going and he blames Kalpi. He moves forward to harm her but his intentions are read by Raghav who stands in the way and glares.

R POV: One more step towards her and you will be sorry. No you won't ...you will be unconscious for a week in hospital.

Prem retreats seeing police and Raghav's demeanor. P POV: Next time, when you don't have this guard dog; I will set you straight low life Kalpana.

The Kapoors leave but Neetu's heels fail her and all three fall in wet muddy puddle. The leave embarrassed, ridiculed with media firing them with accusations.

Raghav is happy with his win and turns to see Kalpi, only to see her praying to God and rushing up the stairs. Pakhi and Sammy turn to Raghav.

P: Sir, you are Raghav. How dumb were we? You were in front of us all this time. Sammy, you should have told me. I'm a great secret keeper.

Raghav hearing this rolls his eyes.

P (screams): Kamla MA. She, VItthal and Pakya rushes upstairs.

S: I will take out the car. (to Raghav)

Raghav on stairs observes,

Kalpi is on her knees with her arms spread out for Kamla.

K (tearily) : Aii, we...you ...

Pakhi rushes in and hugs Kamla and utters we won. She is joined by Pakya. Both of which ignore Kalpi and are twirling Kamla and receiving kisses from her. Vitthal is sad observing this and is about to retreat but Kamla hugs him. "We did it Vitthal! Our dreams, our life...it is safe".

R POV: Why are they all ignoring Kalpi? She saved them and no one wants to flourish her with love. Maybe that is why she has so many walls and cold attitude. He leaves restless seeing Kalpi like this. It is like he was in pain.

Juhi enters the chawl from backdoor and sees the whole scene. She feels the depth of Kalpi's pain and loneliness. She heard it from an 8 year old Kalpi but to see the scene unfolding brought tears even to her own eyes. Juhi too goes down on her knees and signals Kalpi to come forward and both share an intense emotional hug.

J: It is okay. You did it Kalpi, you made it happen. You saved everyone's home. I'm so proud of you my daughter. She then kisses her forehead.

Kalpi is clutching onto her like a person does for her dear life. Kamla seeing his is about to move towards Kalpi, only to be pulled back by Vitthal. She gives him a puzzled look, he replies harshly , "You are too late, she found her comfort".

Pakhi then tells Kamla, that RS is Raghav and it was he and Kalpi who saved the chawl. All except Kalpi and Juhi move downstairs. Vitthal lingers until Juhi signals him to go. Juhi then pulls a dull and lifeless body of Kalpi on the bed, she puts Kalpi's head in her lap and sings her a lullaby.

J POV: My poor baby, God knows how she spent the night, if she ate anything and here all are going RS, Raghav, Pakhi something . How selfish. But why does his name sound so familiar. Probably heard it through Kalpi.

Sadly to their dismay, Sammy and Raghav left. Downstairs all plan to party for their win and to thank Kalpi and Raghav.

Kamla: Kalpi, Kalpi. We will have party in your...

J: Shhh... (covering Kalpi's ears with her hands) she just slept. God know how hard yesterday was for her. Let her sleep.

Kamla feels guilty and puts her hand on Kalpi's forehead. "I am very proud of you". She then thanks Juhi for being there with gratitude. Juhi couldn't bring herself to show Kamla the mirror of how she treats Kalpi after such an interaction.

Party at Chawl

At the mention of party, Pakhi leaves to look her best. After much pestering from Sammy, Pakhi and Kamla on phone, Raghav still denied going for the party.

S: Let's go, it will be fun and you deserve some good happiness, dance, party, smiles. Bore!

R (glaring): I don't enjoy such useless, time wasting activates. I rather make Kapoors cry.

S: You did along with mud on their faces. All with Kalpana by your side...(winks at Raghav).

Raghav throws cushion at Sammy and retreats to his room. "pagal Sammy, speaking nonsense at all times."

Kamla is sad that Raghav isn't attending but she doesn't want to force him. Kalpi understands her mom wants to show him their gratitude for today.

Kalpi POV: Aii, I can't stand seeing you in pain. I wish sometimes it was same for you too. But thank you God for sending Ma to me. My Angel.Kalpana is broken from her thought by Juhi's voice.

J: I want to be there when you are being honored, I'm not leaving. Kamla see your daughter is kicking me out.

Kamla: Kalpi, what are you doing? Horrified

Kalpi laughs seeing Kamla's reaction: Aii, she is acting. She has to go home since she took medications and those medications make her feel drowsy. She won't at night let me drop her or dada. And I don't want her traveling alone with such a state. Okay, you want to see my honor right. Come downstairs!

Kalpi screams water is here, every chawl member gathers downstairs. Kalpi stands on tree, takes Pooja plate and ask Juhi to do pooja. Kalpi apologizes and tells them her Ma wants to see her honor. Kalpi then does pooja for her Ma, aii, baba and dada. She says this is her honor, her family. She then hugs crying Ma and whispers, " you my guardian angel". Next she goes to aii(who is teary), "you are what makes me strong and willful. Then to her proud baba, "you are my horse, my shadow, my heart and finally dada, "you keep me lively and humorous."

Juhi leaves but not until seeing Kalpi dressed for occasion in a lovely blue and silver border saree and her hair straight. "Steal the show tonight, sherni."

Kalpi then calls Raghav.

K: I know after yesterday, I'm the last person you would want to talk to. But if you came tonight, aii would be very happy and would feel the burden of your kindness decrease. So, if you have any respect for her please, I'm requesting you to attend.

R: hmm... No hello Sir? No respect but Please is accepted. You are a rather slow learner. Fine but that doesn't mean I will go soft on you tomorrow Ms. Yadav. I want all pending work to be done tomorrow even if that means you are stuck in office till midnight.

R POV: Take that, now you have to take your words back. I won to make you say please, sorry and Sir.

K: Okay Sir, but makes sure you come on time. Pooja's are done on certain time and if you are late, we superstitious people (according to you) would feel horrible if something befell upon you.

Raghav becomes tongue-tied again and promises to attend.
