Part 14

Kalpi is looking gorgeous in her royal blue saree with silver border. Kamla puts black mark on her against evil eye.

V: OMG meri rajkumari...you look like a real princess from Cinderella. He places a kiss on her forehead and hugs Kalpi.

Pakya: What baba? Don't I exist? See I'm looking so hot! All the girls will be after me.

Kamla, Vithhal and Kalpi roll their eyes and Kalpi throws a cushion at him. "Eww, dada cut down on the perfume! Or you will have girls with sandals after you or half fainted because of the strong smell".

Kalpi's phone rings, she bends to pick the phone...

Rahul is on the other line, "Idiot, Ullu(owl), dumb, stupid, egoistic, stubborn..."

K: Hello to you too...and I miss you too, says Kalpi jokingly.

R: You are laughing, why you didn't tell me about chawl. Where are you guys? Ma (Yes, I will call Juhi aunty Ma, she gave me permission!) said chawl was in danger.

K: Ma bhi na, God know who, when and where she makes irritating people call her Ma. And yes chawl is fine; like I would let anything happen. I'm sorry, I couldn't call...actually I was about to call you after I sorted the matter which is now...but you called. I took care of it and didn't want you worrying in Dubai.

R: You are my family...you know that right. You should have called. I'm hurt and heartbroken...This is our relationship.

K: Enough Haan...I bet you are checking out some girl while saying this making it sound I broke up with you and she will be kind to you for sympathy. Guys...sheesh (rolls her eyes) .

R: Your fault, I don't have you around to keep me straight. You are okay right and everything else too? (He asked with real concern).

K: yes and it is hard to imagine you being so serious, giggles Kalpi, "Now go get her". Bye.

Raghav ends up wearing black pants, deep blue shirt with black waist coat, he was still disturbed about Kalpi's behavior and going to this party might help him find peace. Sammy is dressed in white shirt with jeans.

S: I'm surprised you agreed. Not that I'm not happy but curious what made you change your mind.

Raghav just shrugs his shoulders. "I don't want to go there too early, I prefer being fashionably late and your so called CP won't be there until later, knowing her."

S(surprised): You went through my messages? My password...

R: I was bored and seriously your birth date as password. Anyways knowing pookie she won't be there till after an hour. Anyone with an eye can tell you have a crush on Pakhi. Let's get coffee.

S: Hmm, Okay but it is still not done...I will get back at you for this.

R (cockily): Try, no shame in trying but you my friend will fail.

At Coffee House

Raghav orders himself some coffee while Sammy declines and looks for juices. He asks waiter about their famous juice.

Waiter: It's sugarcane juice...its hygienic of course.

Flashback

Raghav and Kalpi were still miles away from Mumbai. They both were sitting opposite each other; one lost but won't admit in the alluring beauty before him. Other lost in thoughts of her aii, her concern for her home and Raghav's favor on them. Suddenly, Raghav has a coughing fit; Kalpi makes sugarcane juice from sugarcane and puts them in a glass. She gives one glass to driver and one to Raghav.

R: I can't believe you made me drink from such a filthy glass.

K: You were coughing, I didn't see a bottle of mineral water laying by. Do you?

Raghav glares at her and suddenly Kalpi starts hiccupping. Raghav gives her his half glass of sugarcane juice; she refuses but he makes her drink. He comes close to her standing form, put her hands behind her from one hand and makes her drink. He comes closer until their faces are an inch apart, then moves towards her ears and smirks," I have heard scaring someone helps cure hiccups".

Kalpi is trembling with fear, her pulse hitched and for the first time in her life she felt tongue-tied not knowing what to say. Nevertheless, her hiccups died or excitement or scared even she did not know.

K POV: OMG, what is he doing? Why is he getting so close? His warm breath on my face...it feels so nice...why...He looks so handsome.

R POV: She is so cute, little ball of fury kitten. So innocent, wish I could touch her hands forever...Raghav what is wrong with you...you supposed to scare her for hiccups and leave...not patronize her...

Present

Raghav is smiling and Sammy is astounded to see such a genuine smile on Raghav's face.

S: Dude, where are you lost? Did you meet someone? What made you smile?

R: How many questions you ask while knowing I won't answer a single one. You crush should be waiting for us. Let's go.

Paakhi is dressed in pink dress. The party starts with Pakya and his gang dancing, Manda Tai's chikni chemeli when Raghav and Sammy enter. Kamala does aarti for both and invites them in. Vitthal then sings and dances with Kamla on Kya bolti tu?

R POV: The nerve of this girl...she calls and is missing from all this noise.

Paakhi is up next and drags Sammy with her after Raghav rudely brushes her off. They dance on Drama Queen...lights go dim and Kalpi descends the stairs in her Saree.

Raghav's jaw is hitting the floor, along with rest of the guys except Sammy and Pakya.

Paakhi: Kalpi is looking so beautiful...guess I should have worn a saree, people would have looked at me like that too but Sammy is so sweet. He is probably the only guy who has a brain and not giving her the look.

R POV: She...Kal...Kalpi ...Godess..She is looking so beautiful...no... innocent like an angel...even better than she did at the festival behind the mask...He then notices everyone cheering for Kalpi and Raghav for saving their home. Kamla requests both to join the stage. They both receive gifts and prayers from everyone.

K POV: He came...and is standing like Mr. Arrogant...A smile won't kill him...I guess he looks good...handsome even but he needs sparkles in his eyes, a smile that reaches his eyes. Kalpi...he is your boss...what is wrong with you and pinches herself.

R POV: Did she just pinch herself...I need a pinch too...she looks so pretty in this Saree. I wish I could hold her once more.

On the cue, a kid asks Kalpi to dance.

Kid: Didi, you dance too na. Everyone did. Please.

Kalpi didn't have the heart to say no so used no partner as an excuse.

Kid then turns to Raghav: Please dance with didi. I want to see her dance.

Raghav smiles to the hopeful kid and agree. Pakya wanted to put a fast track but by mistake ends up with Tum Hi Ho. Or was it Sammy's trick

Raghav asks for Kalpi's hand.

K POV: Mr. high and mighty, if he is doing this for the kid. Could he not like bend on his knee and ask properly. Kalpi, where is your brain...him and bending what a joke...

R POV: I'm so nervous, should I bend on one knee and ask...no I'm Raghav Singhania...I don't do that...She will just have to swing with it...it is one dance and that is it...me on my way and she on hers.

Kalpi accepts his hand and both start to sway with music. It was awkward at first but as soon as Raghav put one of his hands her waist and other in her hand. He felt home, something in the air. He soon realized other guys ogling her so he covered most of her bare waist with his hand to hide it and more possessively. Kalpi was feeling light headed, never been so close to a guy, it was very intimate for her. Her hands on Raghav's shoulder and on his hand while his was on her waist when he suddenly pulled her closer; their upper bodies brushing past each other and faces so close, they could feel the other's breath on their face. Both shared an eye lock that spoke volumes of longing and both having an unsettling feeling in their abdomen. They were lost in their own world caressing each other's body, what that world was something they didn't even know. So the song ended and everyone cheered for them for dancing so beautifully. Kalpi blushed after and stayed with the kids for the rest of the time. Raghav too was affected but no one dared to question him. He couldn't help but glance at Kalpi every few minutes and she too would shyly sneak a peep of him. After dances and dinner, the party came to an end and all returned to their respective homes.

Next Morning

Kalpi wakes up early having a restless night involving an infuriating man and the dance. She decided to visit Ma and relate the whole events of the party. They have a few laughs until it is time for Kalpi to reach office. Kalpi is on the way when she sees a little kid following his ball on the road. She reaches for the kid but he still got injured. Kalpi seeing blood on child is furious at the driver for reckless driving. She yells for the driver to come and make sure to take the kid and his family to hospital.

To her surprise, it is Prem Kapoor.

K: What is wrong with you? Road is public spot, if you own a car then you have a responsibility to drive properly and not endangering anyone's life.

A mob of people surround them. Prem angry at the child making him late, calls him a bas***d and holds Kalpi's arm with a force enough to cause her to wince in pain and tells her to shut her mouth or he will. She is a housemaid's daughter and should stay that.

Kalpi pushes Prem with all her might and slaps him real hard.

K: I told you next time you touch me, I would slap you. This one was for the kid and this one is from me.

Kalpi is about to slap him again when he grabs her wrist, twists it around and bring her closer. Prem then whispers in her ears, " Who do you think you are? I could get you kidnapped any time any place and you would never be found."

Raghav happens to cross by the place when he sees Kalpi slapping Prem and him manhandling her. He comes and punches Prem right in the eye. Raghav then frees Kalpi out of Prem's grip, "Are you alright?"

Kalpi is still digesting what he said, numbly nods and move on with clouded eyes to the kid.

Raghav knows Prem said something in her ear and is furious for not reaching before.

R: Don't you ever touch a girl like that...who knows someone might do the same to your sister. Raghav is about to hit Prem again but the parents of the kid arrive to handle the situation.

Raghav takes Kalpi's arm "You are safe. He is gone now." Without second thought, Kalpi breaks into sobs and hugs him tight. "Thank you" she mutters. He comforts her, gives her a tissue with a slight smile. She smiles back and they share an eyelock. He makes her sit in the car.

Raghav is silently looking at Kalpi worriedly.

R POV: I wish I punched the daylights out of Prem before he talked or touched Kalpi..How dare he...Damn it! Raghav catching the steering wheel imagining Prem and clutches onto it until his knuckles become white. How do I ask her...tell her she is safe...I won't let any hair on her be harmed.

Kalpi is lost in her world, Prem's words echoing in her head and sends cold shivers down her spine. She then remembers Raghav's punch and his concern; noticing his knuckles white and bruised. She feels like slapping Prem again for all the misery and trouble he caused. She hesitantly covers her tiny hands on Raghav's and releases the pressure of the steering wheel. "Thank you Sir for sav..saving me and the kid. I...I don't know how to return your favor so please could you pull over."

Raghav is shocked but does as she asks. Kalpi then takes cream from her purse and softly massages it on Raghav's hand. "It will soothe the pain and I will feel less guilty." Raghav was too stunned to retract his hands. She then covers his bruised hand with a white stroll of hers.

Raghav very softly asks Kalpi what Prem that left her so baffled. Kalpi gasps and starts shivering which makes Raghav blood boil. Kalpi forcibly smiles and assures him, Prem has nothing of importance to say. She then reminds him of the important meeting with the Mr. Mehta in front of all the builders and how she needs to make sure the presentation is flawless.
